Did you mean:

WAIT!! Before you cancel that return request, know that once you do, EBAY will abandon you!

So you want to return an item because of a SNAD right?  Ok, just make sure you choose the right reason.

I don’t mean remorse, that’s on you.   I mean a snad.

Now Ebay lumped a bunch of reasons together so it’s easier for you to choose the wrong one.

REMORSE reasons should be a separate process.

Here are your choices. Btw, EBAY DOES provide any further description & once you choose one & go forward. That’s it.

* Doesn’t fit (meant for clothing, NOT a Tractor wheel like in my case)

*changed my mind   (remorse)

*found a better price  (remorse)

*just didn’t like it   (remorse)

*Ordered by mistake   (remorse)

*Doesn’t work or is defective   should be a SNAD

*Doesn’t match description   DING DING DING!!!!!  <<<THIS IS THE ONE YOU WANT   SNAD

*wrong item sent    You would think this one too, but no!   should be a SNAD

*Missing parts  should be a SNAD

*arrived damaged  should be a SNAD

*Doesn’t seem authentic.   REMORSE

So now that you have chosen the wrong return you will get a message (if seller elected) that you need to pay return postage.   This is because your choice didn’t fall in to the;

"Get the item you ordered or get your money back. Covers your purchase price and original shipping.”

Category.

If at this point you cancel the return process (ebay makes it very easy to do) you are now on your own.

The whole auction in question is now like a “read only” entry.  There isn’t much you can do with it.

You lose that guarantee stated above & you now have to go through paypal (who will make you pay return postage)

At first I thought that it was due to EBAYs outdated software platform & that they were just to lazy to fix it.  However, this is a calculated process by ebay to avoid having to honor their promise.

I guess if enough people complained about it, they would change it,  but folks blame themself & move on.  Just what ebay wants.

You’d rather try to change the rules for you then work with what’s readily available.  " {change in this case is needed and other than your one reason provided, [which is flawed] no one can explain why this is a good policy}

It's like you went down a one way road and realized it was a mistake.   You're insisting you should be able to go back up that one way road and an exception should be made for you.  Meanwhile there is a road just a block away that will get you to the exact same place....take the other road.   Quit blaming eBay that you can't get where you're going because of the rules in place and take your other options or sit there at the end of that road and get no where.

You  keep talking about outside of eBay there is no danager there you have PayPal still all you need in addition is for the seller to provide return shipping.    And considering you think eBay abandoned you I'm not sure why you would have the argument of not wanting to go outside eBay anyhow after all in your opinion they didn't do what they were supposed to do in order to protect you anyhow.

Yikes!  What a defeatist attitude.

1. You have a prounced sense of entitlement for ebay to be in agreement with your position.

2. You refuse to accept the reality of ebay world, and refuse to accept some of the good & wholesome advice which you have been presented.

3.  It may be advisable for you to consider how best to successfully address your feelings of having been abandoned.

4. Accept that it is best to comply with ebay policies and rules, accept what you do not have the ability to change.

Thanks for helping me make my point, kind of.   Ebay does this to catch buyers so ebay doesn't have to honor their promise.  The pilot error was trusting ebay would not pull what amounts to a used car salesman "fine print" scam.

So you have to go through all these steps...

  1. Home
  2. Help
  3. Buying
  4. Resolving Buying Problems
  5. Return an item for a refund

Then....at the almost very bottom they throw in, "It's important to make sure you're certain you want to cancel a request, as you won't be able to re-open a case once it's been closed."

So, WHY?  Why can't it be re-opened?  Who said it can't? What is the valid reason that it can't?   The reason is clear, they simply don't want to honor their promise.

mam98031's responce is typical of ebay supporters that blame the the buyer. Trying to place the blame solely on the buyer.  Not the case,  Ebay has a resonsibility & an expectation that they will behave in a professional & honest manner.

If it wasn't a trap  They would allow you to re-open it.

If it wasn't a trap, they would display their disclaimer at the point of entry

Sorry but I agree with Mam.  I'm a buyer.  Each side has responsibilities.  There is no reason for Ebay to fudge anything to avoid their promise.  They aren't paying for anything.  It seems you are not aware of the process.

You do, however, as a buyer need to be aware of how things work.  It's really not that hard; choose the reason that is applicable.  That drives whether you pay return shipping or not, but integrity means not choosing a reason just to avoid paying shipping if it is a buyer's remorse reason.

The onus is on you to open the correct case so you don't have a reason to re open.

The problem when the buyer lies and issue a returen, and claims that the product is missing parts! how can ebay honor the return for a false resoans, and they have no idea if the buyer is telling the truth.

They also have no idea if the seller is telling the truth.  Ebay will not get in the middle of a he said / she said situation.

You wrote.   "No you're making it way to complicated.  {Your opinion} Providing you the label or the money to ship outside eBay is fine.  {FACT}  There is zero issue with that. {FACT If the seller does so and then refuses to refund upon return you have PayPal you can file with and show you returned. PayPal will refund you if you do that.   eBay is no longer involved in the return process forget eBay worry about what you do have to use which is PayPal. "

So out of the frying pan & into the fire.   No thanks.

You have some things wrong SO I thought I would correct it.

I would like to agree with you on one point in this overly stretched out thread.  As someone who sells car parts, I agree that there should be a better definition to "does not fit".  If the person bought an item that was clearly described but, it didnt fit due to the buyer purchasing the wrong size, then "does not fit" is a propper choice.  They should somehow redirect people who buy an item and it doesnt fit due to description.

As a responsible seller, I personally just inform the person that I will follow up with a second refund so they can be fully reimbursed and/or send them the correct part.  That IS how Ebay wants us to deal with it.  Ebay wants the seller to work it out with the buyer.  You are just having issues grasping this.

Oh And BTW... You dont have to spend $60 on a tire to voice your opinion here.  The forum's are free to use and open to everyone with an account.
