Effective September 16, 2024, USPS will increase rates for package delivery to select zip codes. Although this increase affects a very low percentage of transactions on ebay.com, you may see a higher shipping label cost for some locations.
The increase is for weight-based and cubic packages up to 20 lbs. for Priority Mail, Priority Mail Flat Rate, and Ground Advantage delivery to these zip codes.
The eBay shipping calculator will automatically update on September 16 with the new rates.
Thank you for selling on eBay.

The link to the Zip Codes affected by this change is LONG. Almost 18 thousand of them.
The announcement does not tell us what the rate changes are. I'm trying to locate that info and will share it once I find it.

For whatever reason, the 'list' is basically EVERY WHERE in the USA...so there's that.
2nd; per the USPS Website (or Stamps or ??) Figure 8% increase is almost ALL shipments (7.8% exactly but that is an 'about')

Cannot stop laughing. Especially at the fact that it took you only two minutes to reply. 🤣

I looked at those sites and only saw the July increase. If memory serves me, what you are stating is also the increases we had in July.
We have over 48,000 zip codes in the US.

I goggled and found that the rates are going up, no one said by how much but looking into it. What is this the 3rd, 4th rate increase this year from the USPS and still have holiday rate increase if they don't skip it again this year.

Yes, I'm trying to get answers.
This would be the 3rd rate increase for 2024. We had one in January and again in July. Now this one that still lacks for details.

Did the math, it's approx 42% of US zip codes affected, but eBay's announcement said only a "small percent" of transactions will be affected. Which supports my initial theory:
On the thread I started over on the shipping board, I mentioned spot checking some zip codes on the list and they seem to be smaller population areas. Granted, I only checked about 6-10 zips at random so take that for what it's worth.
I read the announcement over a month ago when Stamps.com published it, but their announcement was much more vague than eBay's.

I checked a few of the zips and they are more rural areas.
Not high population areas.
But that's only from the ones I checked.

Logically, it is likely to be a rural surcharge.
But when did USPS ever do anything logical?

All I know is that I am and will likely remain gobsmacked when I see that a package that I mailed on a Monday from Virginia to a remote rural location, 50 miles from the nearest village, in South Dakota can be reliably delivered by Thursday for a mere $11.

Why would anyone be surprised by that? FedEx and UPS have always had a "delivery area surcharge" for areas where there is little to be delivered to cover the extra time, gas, etc to go to the boonies. But at least they will go there.
I've always been surprised that USPS didn't follow suit earlier.
The USPS will NOT deliver to certain sparsely populated areas demanding, instead, that the residents maintain a P O Box at the post office and come pick up their mail.

But on the positive side for those in Northern Nevada - the post office has cancelled the plans to close the Reno sorting facility.

If you make less than $400,000 a year, you will pay one penny from this USPS rate increase. LOL. Lie.
