Two different buyers, two different items, same exact tracking number on both HELP Please!

One item shipped and delivered international. Arriving at correct destination, all good. Next day shipped another item, yet still says usps still awaiting package. My item thats missing shows up on receipt. Checked tracking number and it brought me to an item I shipped day before. #1 receipt shows weight of 7oz. going to glendale heights 60139 dated 1/30. #2  receipt shows weight of 11lbs. going to Glendale heights 60139  dated 1/31 (this one is supposed to go to texas) Both receipts have exact same tracking number ...exactly! That explains why #2 does not show up as received by usps. I am unable to track it as it brings me to the first item. So I do not have any idea where second package is other than its heading to hub to be shipped internationally when correct buyer is in us.  USPS says I need to contact ebay as that is who I did my shipping labels with. I have tryed to no avail to contact a real person on ebay as everything just brings me back where I started. Both buyers know of the issue as I have contacted them at least. The buyer with missing package still wants item and willing to wait. Very understanding and patient.  I have kept him informed every step of the way. I could easily just refund his money and say heck with it and take the loss but I am more determined now than ever to find this item and get it to him! Its no longer about making the money, its the principle and what ever the cost to me, I want him to have his item. But I am so at a loss  on what I can do! Hoping someone here can help me, maybe head me in the right direction. I am hoping to intercept the package, have it returned to me and get it shipped to the right person. Thank you in advance for your time! newrevival

Perhaps others can answer the question. If item has tracking which is incorrect but "address" on package is correct...wouldn't package go to address on package regardless of tracking?

USPS told me the tracking number governs the address and receipt shows the second package going to same place as first package. Two different weights show, both correct. There shouldn't be same exact tracking number...I have no clue how it happened at all, none! So I can only assume both packages going to same place...I would have thought this would have brought up a red flag with post office, but obviously it didn't as they accepted the second package a day later. As far as I can tell, the weights showing on each receipt is the only difference.

Maybe let it play out. Just a thought. I wouldn't email the person who might not get the package again. See what happens and if a slight chance it gets corrected. The person getting 2 packages maybe....if they are nice might say something...or not and keep both packages.

As a worst case, you would refund one buyer as item not received.

Surprised the shipping was the same cost of both packages. Would one get returned as insufficient postage and return back to you since it's going International. Just a thought.

It sounds like on day 2 you printed your second label from the wrong item.  I would think your first buyer will receive both packages.  What receipts are you talking about?

Hi @newrevival . It sounds like you printed day #1 label on day #2 and used it twice.

Go to this page:

https://www.ebay.com/ship/labels/seller-hub

Do you see 2 different labels with 2 different tracking numbers? What happens if you go to actions>reprint for day #2 label - do you see the correct tracking number on the label?

If the receipts you're referring to are USPS receipts when you dropped off the packages, the receipts reflect the tracking # tied to the label you used.

Assuming you printed the wrong label and put it on the TX package, it will get to the eIS hub and you will probably never see it again. It will likely be liquidated.

My suggestion: refund buyer #2 and forget about it. Write off the loss when you file your 2024 taxes. If by some slim chance the eIS hub returns it to you, you can relist and let buyer #2 know they can repurchase.

If you bought a new label for day #2 but didn't use it, you have up to 5 days to void it which can be done at the link I posted above.

The receipts from the post office. When I drop my packages off I always get a receipt .  Not sure if I can add pictures here as I would show you.

Re: Two different buyers, two different items, same exact tracking number on both HELP Please!

Thank you..... I did what you said and it shows correct labels for each item. The weird part was when receipts had two different weights and I paid two different amounts but same track#. That threw me off and I got so confused over what may have happened. Guess it was my error for sure. eIS HUb  will Liquidate ? I remember the good ol days when we had "Return to sender".   I feel bad that I need to tell buyer I am refunding him but appears thats my best option at this point. Thank you for your help , much appreciated and a shout out to everyone else as well that took the time to come to my rescue! Thank you ALL!

UPDATE.....My "slim chance" happened.!! Buyer #1 contacted me to say he received Buyer #2s package and willing to return it..The only problem now is buyer#1 never received his original package. At least both buyers have been refunded!   Lesson well learned for me!

It's possible USPS realised one was a duplicate tracking # and it will end up back with you.

Nice to see you were able to take away a lesson learned from accidentally using the same label twice. Sorry it was not a better $ outcome @newrevival , but you did the right thing by refunding both buyers.

Based on the date of your post, neither item was the salt & pepper shakers, but it would have been pretty funny if buyer #1 got those shakers in error. 😂

Thanks wastingtime!!!   I went to see what s/p shakers you were talking about.😃🙄

OP, are you sure you are entering enough postage to ship some of the breakable items?  I noticed several that looked pretty low.
