So I listed this 63" x 44" x 2" mirror sign for local pickup, however I'm getting a lot of messages from people who are not within driving distance from me that would buy it if I offered shipping. However, with the size and weight ( I haven't actually weighed it, but I'm assuming it's around 40 pounds) I already know that shipping will cost an arm and a leg most likely. What would be the most economical solution to possibly shipping this, and through what service? I imagine UPS might be the best but I'm unsure. Also, should I consider shipping freight?

I'm going to say it's massively high risk.
I personally would do it for local pickup only.

Thank you so much!!

I love the sign but would never ship this.
What happens if they want to return it?

There is no special handling with the USPS. They went way of insurance instead.
Id stay that image is outdated.
Which they will most likely blame your packaging and will require your buyer to take it for inspection. Something buyers arent obligated to do.
You also don't want to add a signature required unless it's $750+.

DO NOT EVEN CONSIDER SHIPPING IT.
Not worth the hassle of the possible bad scenarios.

That is a tough one and would say don't do it. Keep it local.
If you do, i would suggest over packing it (double box if possible).
Uhaul stores at one time sold TV boxes that were good for certain art.
Pack the heck out of it and don't be surprised if something breaks.
It is a cool piece and it would be a shame if something happened to it.
Good luck

Absolutely not.

It would get damaged unless it was in a custom built shipping crate. That would be very expensive and the added size and weight would make the shipping very expensive too. Local pickup is the way to go.

USPS will probably destroy it. I worked for them and something like this would only be handled with care if you had an extremely high insurance amount on it.
UPS might be better, but I would probably just stick with local pickup to be safe.

At the size you have I would probably recommend freight shipping like a flat screen TV. If you can get a flat screen TV box you could probably retrofit it for a big mirror like this. Freight companies have experience with flat screens so should be able to get it to the destination intact.
If you don't have experience shipping via freight you can go to freightquote.com website they have a very easy process to get freight shipping quotes.

If there's one thing I would never ship this is it.

Last I knew, USPS length + girth shipping limit is 108" with additional outrageous, "we don't want to do it" surcharge up to 130".
Even with no box. 63 + 44 + 44 + 2 + 2 = 155
It is not going by USPS.

No chance I would ship this.
