I'm in Ft Worth, Texas
The Post Office has turned into a disaster for me.
Items don't show any movement for days, Items dropped off at the post office appear as not being scanned and then they show up delivered weeks later after I have refunded the customer'
Post office personnel tell me this is nation wide.
I've had minor problems in the past but this is now costing me money and I don't seem to have a plan "B"
Please tell me that this is not just me.

It is not "everywhere", but during the COVID-19 pandemic, there have been lots of examples of USPS branches and processing centers becoming clogged ... it is a combination of Christmas-season volume with reduced capacity of the USPS (due to disinfecting facilities, worker quarantining, etc.)

Excellent information and analysis of the current situation regarding the USPS. Thank you so much!!!

never just drop off at the post office without getting them scanned and a receipt.

I live in a small town and they are just wonderful here. I think it depends on the employees.

I truly appreciate your response. I know what caused the problem. I need to find out that if I take my packages to another post office would the same thing happen. I get 5-10 messages a day wanting to know where the package is or I want a refund. The post office offers zero solution or time table on when this might end.
Thank you for taking the time to respond

Yes, these delays have cost us some cash. But we'd prefer that to dead postal employees. The trick is to get your buyers to care about that too.
Good luck!

Thank you but I did not blame the postal employees. I said they were no help in telling me what's going on and what I can do about it. I don't want dead post office workers but thanks for taking the time to answer.

My small town Post Office employees are terrific and have been for 12 years. The Post Office management tell me that this has been going on for the last two months and can not fix it.
I am always nice and polite and always will be but that does not fix the problem
Thank you for taking the time to answer.

You might try the USPS alternative inquiry
missingmail.usps.com
No guarantees but I have filed missing mail packages there a lot the past two months and this does seem to find them and get them moving.

This is also happening in Portland Oregon. We are a state with comparatively lower COVID numbers (and i am also a critical care charge nurse) than your state. I send out a lot of packages via USPS priority mail. Seems that 10% get there origin scan 100-1000's of miles away from where I drop them off. I ship live plants and have a live arrival guarantee. Very nerve wracking. Packages hang in limbo and "go dark" for days. I have two packages I dropped off Monday (its Thursday) that still have label created status in their tracking. Average transit time for priority packages is now 4-5 days. I go to the slower post office in my area, and they have customers lined out the door. They are busy, I try to cut them some slack, because they genuinely appear over worked, short staffed.

No its not just you, I am in Dallas. I posted about this yesterday. I dropped off items to the post office in the morning of the 14th and they were not posted as accepted at point of drop off. Contacted USPS 800 number who validated they were not accepted but some of my items are showing up at the distribution center where the acceptance is entered. That was yesterday.
Today they are showing up but the ACCEPTANCE date and time are WRONG. I am lucky I ship early so I appear to be ok as far a ebay expectations go, by the skin of my teeth I must say.
The acceptance is very close and I fear will show as late. At least I have some documentation to prove I made the drop off to usps as evidence by speaking with 800 number at usps. They were very helpful and were straight forward about items NOT being appropriately accepted at the point of drop off. I commend their customer service.
I did ask them if they were having problems at my locations due to covid 19 and stated no. I must say this is the first I have experienced this delay. My hope its just a one time thing.
Someone correct me if I am wrong but I believe ebay was going to take this issue in consideration when evaluation our performance./?
Regards and good luck.

You are answering my question.
Thank you very much.

Hard to do when there is no proof that the post office even scanned them.
I sincerely appreciate you taking the time to respond.

This is just a general reply, not addressed to anyone in particular. By some of these comments, are people not getting acceptance scans when the package enters the mail system? Thats rule one for us, and we have receipts for every shipment.
YMMV
