I bought an item with my selling ID that was mailed First Class. The package arrived safely & in a timely manner. The seller has been selling about 1 year and is a TRS with no negs or neutrals with seller feedback of 300 or so.
When I opened the package I found the seller had used 2 free PM padded envelopes to package the items in. I messaged the seller 2 weeks ago and stated that I would not be leaving them feedback for the following reason:
"I was disappointed when I saw a First Class package & when opened I saw that you had used free Priority Mail shipping supplies to cushion my purchase. Free Priority Mail supplies are to be used ONLY in packages being mailed at a Priority Mailing Rate.
This misuse of supplies costs all sellers. If this keeps up, those free PM supplies will no longer be free. They cost the USPS money to produce. BTW, the post office has a habit of randomly opening packages for inspection. If you are caught doing this, you may get a visit from the inspector and/ or lose your ability to use the USPS for shipping purposes."
Silly me, but I was expecting some type of reply to my message. Maybe something along the lines of "I'm sorry, I did not know the rules about PM supplies." Heck, any type of reply acknowledging my message would be better than nothing!
So far no reply. I am now rethinking leaving feedback but I am afraid if I do that they may retaliate using another ID. I have blocked the sellers ID.
I was thinking of leaving this neutral feedback if I do leave it:
"Nice item. Misused free Priority Mail supplies as packing for First Class mail."
Opinions please. TIA.

many years ago i was bringing my packages into the post office and noticed the clerk using priority mail tape to remove stray cat hair from her uniform .... just looked at her and said "THAT is misuse of priority mail supplies"

LMFAO. I can not believe someone is actually complaining about this. you recieved your item in good condition but want to leave neutral feedback because they wrapped the item in a few padded flat rate envelopes. dude you need to get a life. im sure about 500 people already added you to their blocked buyer list

I just ran a sum of what I've spent with USPS this year. $24,376. They can afford to give me an extra box or envelope every now and then.

I recycle shipping supplies all the time, including PM and other bubble padded envelopes from items I receive. It only makes sense instead of throwing them in the trash. I always black out or remove at least the names and addresses, but sometimes it may look like new ones because I cut them to fit and the original labels are not there anymore. Sorry if I offend someone by recycling supplies that I did not pay for, but this is ebay and the sellers have to keep costs down to make their tiny profits. Now I do agree that if they were brand new, unused USPS items that were free, that is not right. But you probably need to let it go and stop worrying about it, and either do or don't leave your feedback, block the seller, and move on in the New Year.

I just want to know what the USPS is using cats for...

I think the bigger issue is why our tax dollars are being used to supplement Amazon shipping through the USPS instead of people using PM packaging supplies.

There is a law that prevents the USPS from agreeing to business contracts that cause them to lose money. So if they were subsidizing Amazon, I'm pretty sure Trump would be shouting it all over the universe, knowing how much he hates Jeff Bezos.
I think Amazon using USPS is keeping a lot of mail carriers employed. I'm sure they're happy about that.

A few years ago I got a package from a big retailer. Each item was wrapped in a PMFR bubble envelope. There must’ve been 20 or 30 of them. I called and complained but they said they do it all the time and they didn’t care to hear my complaint. It’s not just eBay at all.
why complain? your item came to you without damage correct? most of us here give the USPS plenty of our business (spend lots of money with them). Im sure they are not losing at all by a few people using envelopes as packaging material.

I only ship via Priority Mail; I do use the envelopes sometimes to wrap my items.
How do you get the PM tape? Used to be able to order it, now cannot.

Call 1-800-ASK-USPS and order label 106A. Can't get it online, and I don't think you'll be able to get more than 2 rolls at a time without approval by the higher ups.

Some people are the type to never say they are sorry, but I'm sure they heard you. Hopefully they listen.
This ^^^. You told them you wouldn’t but because they didn’t do something they didn’t even know you wanted (a response) you want to leave bad feedback now. I don’t think that’s fair
you don’t know why they didn’t respond. They may have read your message and learned and just felt no need to respond but to only take the information given
