Messed up returns

I sold an item so someone in Australia it was sent via GSP. Apparently the package was damaged in shipping also breaking the item so he started a return, eBay sided with him without even asking my side of the story. He sent the item back and eBay refunded him 3 days later when the item is still in transit back to me!  I don't even have possession of the package but yet they stole money out of my account. It wasn't a high dollar item, about $300.

I disputed the charge on PayPal and my next step is to contact my bank and file a claim for theft.

Has anyone had this issue before?

You are not responsible for items damaged using GSP. You should of contacted eBay and asked for whoever handles GSP cases.

Messed up returns

I did a few days ago when the case was originally opened, and I was told by the eBay rep "Sorry, there is nothing we can do, I understand your frustration, blah, blah, blah"

Does not sound right.

Damaged in transport should be covered at least to some extend when using GSP.
Have you called ebay?

Unfortunately you got a rep that didn’t know what she was doing.

Messed up returns

Seems like every rep I've ever gotten sided with the seller even after I provided proof that the seller scr**ed me on purpose.

I'm just wondering how eBay can steal money out of my account when the return is still on a ship in the middle of the Pacific ocean.

Problems like this are why I opted out of GSP a long time ago. I have found if you don't get the answer you like from CS try try again. I am a bit shocked they have a way to get our items back from overseas though. As stated above you are supposed to be covered in this situation. Personally I got tired of playing whack a mole and just opted out.

Call again or post on the eBay business facebook page for help with appealing the case. The rep you spoke with was wrong- which is all too common, unfortunately. The GSP is responsible for damage that occurs in transit from the GSP facility to the final destination.
