I **bleep**!ing hate the USPS

This year is a nightmare. Drop stuff off for shipping and the post office doesn't scan it in. I had packages mailed 12/1 that went from Baltimore to Hyattsville, MD that are just sitting around. I have customers wanting refunds.

eBay's response SILENCE.

IMPOSSIBLE TO SPEAK WITH ANYONE AT USPS.

CONTACTED USPS VIA TWITTER- NOTHING!

I AM TIRED OF THE COVID EXCUSE!

The USPS delivers more packages in three days than Fedex and UPS deliver in a year.

Including those companies' last leg deliveries.

Re: I **bleep**!ing hate the USPS

Those photos only show the inside of a buildings that might be designed to handle that volume.  What those photos don't show is the outside of the building, with a line of 18 wheelers extending out the driveway of the distribution centers and lined up on the shoulders of the access roads.  Earlier this week there were news reports of these backups of trucks in a queue that are estimated to be 12 hours just to reach the unloading dock (Rochester NY).  Imagine the queue in major hubs like Philly, Indy, Detroit, etc.  And they've gotten longer through this week.  Hardly any of the trucks in the 12 hour Rochester NY queue had USPS logos on them.  USPS has had to contract 3rd party shippers to handle freight between distribution centers.

Another news report estimated that USPS volume is up to 30% higher than any other holiday seasons.  Also due to fear of COVID people aren't traveling home to deliver family gifts, so they are mailing them.  Fear of COVID has allowed people to be able to take time off work if they have underlying health issues.  The people that actually do the work at USPS are in a Union.  No need to say much more about how easy it is to be granted time off for a USPS worker.  Those that are working are getting massive amounts of overtime.  Without a doubt, there are COVID work protocols for employee distancing that is also causing inefficiencies.   Another news report said that 1 hour in every 5 hours worked by postal workers is an overtime hour.   People are tired and on edge.

Still another report, Washington Post, said that FedEx and UPS have stopped taking shipments from some major retailors, who then have no choice but to dump them on USPS.

An Amazon Prime delivery person came to my door last night, he was at the wrong address, and literally threw a package addressed to my neighbor on the concrete walkway to my door.  The incident was recorded by my security camera.  You can hear the guy cursing.

I've had to say 1000 times what this picture shows in truth. No one is willing to accept the damage of covid-19 and living on a coronavirus planet. Here we are at the end of 2020. the virus is surging like a tidal wave and the vaccine is trickling in like a tiny mountain stream. What part of that is acceptable with our government?

Maryland is severely backed up. I have several packages sitting there (and all over the country).

I spoke with a postmaster in MD this weekend who said that the sort facility nearest them had lost 50% staff due to covid a month ago and was still operating with only 50% staff because of Covid sick leave. They worked through Christmas Day. They're working overtime when they're not getting paid for overtime. They have 131 tractor trailers backed up outside the facility waiting to be unloaded and processed. The sort center estimated the soonest they would be caught up is by MLK holiday.

We're all tired of Covid, but that doesn't mean it's not a true and valid reason this is happening.

If you're upset then you have choices-

- Use different carriers

- Stop selling until things clear up

- Create a well-written response for buyers to set their expectations while simultaneously offering understanding of their frustrations. You can use a form response and change small details as they pertain to each buyer.

- Write to your local congress representatives to express your dissatisfaction with DeJoy's management of USPS and how it's affecting your business

The day-to-day operations men and women at USPS are truly going above and beyond right now. Be upset with the top- DeJoy- that's where the failures stemmed from.
