Fellow eBay sellers,
Be aware of FedEx. I recently received numerous cost adjustments from them, totaling over $100. I believe they are intentionally doing this to take advantage of eBay sellers, or possibly other online sellers, to increase their profits.
I am switching to UPS. If you continue to use FedEx, don't just drop off your packages and leave. Always ask the FedEx clerk for a receipt of your packages with the weight and dimensions for your records, even with prepaid shipping labels.
I have attached some images. FedEx's reported weights of my packages are inaccurate. I believe there is potential for a class-action lawsuit against FedEx. I hope it happens!

one time courtesy FEE SHIPPING COST ADJUSTMENT ... IS THE EBAY CUSTOMER SERVICE AGENTS goto verbiage....
I have been cheated/ had My funds stolen by EBAY 10x and arguing with ebay for hours I was able to get a single 22.00 fee reversed ... within a day or two i had additional adjustments from federal with the funds removed during the night as I woke up to over 50.00 stolen from my account with no help from etbay "I had used my 1 time courtesy FEE " the fee that was reversed was not my mistake and the size and weight was spot on
but I lost my 1x courtesy FEE adjustment ...
Ebay refused to correct , fast forward Month or 2 and the admitted fedexebay glitch i received 2.99 refund but next morning i had woke up to a additional 30.00 stolen again ... i texted 3 agents including a manager noluck, so I called got transfered 2or 3 times till I was heard...
Ended up getting my adjustment refund approval ( Iwas told it would take a few days) I waited 7 days then started to call again ( agents say I can see ) but 15 buisness days is normal for refund. I waited the 3 weeks started to call agents again couple days of agents hangups and transfers with hours on the phone THE ONLY OPTION I WAS GIVEN WAS A 30 00 EBAY DIGITAL GIFT CARD ( WHICH I FINALLY AGREED AND THANKED THE YOUNG AGENT... FAST FORWARD 1 MONTH ( THE GIFT CARD DISAPPEARED FROM MY PROFILE, I REACHES OUT AND AFTER TRANSFER AND HANGUPS AGAIN
I was told it will not receive a replacement ....... to bad should of spent the card HANGUP.....
I RECEIVED A ups label price adjustment today so I am 29.00 for a 15 to 22.00 label
For a item that was delivered on the 3rd of this month * 2weeks ago *
I compare these actions to thief's and i feel as if I have been stolen from and ebay agents say You used your 1 time courtesy FEE adjustment so too bad....
Had to get it off my shoulders _ reseller salt Lake city UT.....

I just filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. I quit using UPS & FedEx for quite some time because of crazy - bogus adjustments that I could not do anything about. Most of the time I end up losing money on sales when they do this. For example I sold a $35 pillow, I paid $10 for the pillow, I paid $12 in shipping through UPS, a week later I get charged an extra $12.95. It stated I had 32oz on the label & it actually weighted 2lbs… by the time eBay fees & all the bogus shipping charges I wasted my time & money selling the thing! This is just 1 of many examples. I spent 45min (3 phone calls with UPS) for them to finally tell me to take it up with eBay as they sold the label & are contracted at the vendor. I have attempted to chat with eBay & the a.i. chat bot never can seem to understand what I’m asking about pertaining to shipping overages. No help. SCAM SCAM SCAM!!! I feel like if enough of us file complaints with the BBB it might get their attention. Seems like it could turn into a class action suit.

UPS is just as bad. I paid $8.95 for a 32oz label, a week later they charged me an extra $12.95 for an adjustment as it was actually 2lbs. Last I checked 32oz = 2lbs

I suggest starting a new thread @dabur-263 - moderators tend to lock old ones.
When you start a new thread, include a screenshot as outlined below. Also include a physical description of your package (box or bag, odd shape, etc)
There are many surcharges with UPS and FedEx that are not factored in until the carrier physically reviews the package.
In order to help you determine if your charge was legit or in error (and how to appeal), view the label details and expand the section on the bottom right that says see cost breakdown (highlighted below in green). Black out order #, tracking #, and buyer ID and post a screenshot.

I recently had a similar experience with FedEx back charging me an additional $36.92 on top of the original $22.12 shipping label cost from using the eBay shipping calculator and purchasing the label through ebay. There excuse was an additional handling surcharge( guitar was shipped in a standard 42x17x4 guitar box an the dimensions I entered when I bought the label, I also listed the dimensional weight perfectly, 17 lbs) Since the dimensions and destination did not change FedEx should be not allowed to change the charges after the fact. All the carriers seem to do this from time to time. I think the best way to fight this type of money grab is to change carriers for a while. I have used FedEx exclusively for about three years, maybe I decide to use their competition UPS for the next three years so they feel the loss of revenue for being less than honest.
Hello James,
My name is Jeff and I'm with eBay Customer Service. I'm following up with you to share some good news about added shipping charges. We are going to credit these charges back to your account! We have already submitted the credit for you. This credit will appear on your eBay account within 14 business days.
Tracking #: 281231867598
Amount Credited: $36.92
Here are the details as to why FedEx charged these added charges for future reference:
An Additional Handling Surcharge was assessed for packaging.
I appreciate you choosing eBay and allowing me to resolve your issue!
Thank you,
Jeff W.

I got the same charge for a 5lb nerf gun! My message said you paid for a 5lb package.. your package weighed 5lb and charged me an extra $36.92! After a month fighting with eBay they said Fed Ex charged it cause i used a poly mailer over the box!!! Not a weight issue even though message said it was. I can’t win. I had a few returns for packages left in rain at delivery. The poly mailers stopped that issue and Fed Ex updated their handling policy in August 2024. eBay credited it after the fight but now I’m worried about other surprise charges for any other package i had used a poly bag!! This is in all fed ex fine print that you have to dig to see.

Hello kyle@ebay,
We are having the same issue now, January 2025, as in March 2024. FEDEX has, through EBAY, charged additional charges going back 45 to 60 days. Package was 3x23x3 at 3 lbs. equating to $11.73. Just received FEDEX adjustment of an additional $31.95. Are you aware of these happenings to date?
