EIS issues

If I’m being stupid, feel free to tell me so. I was under the impression we were automatically rolled into the EIS Program, having used the GSP for years. We are now receiving ten messages from international buyers a day saying they can’t purchase. But we are still selling items to other international buyers worldwide via the program. We have shipped to the new hub in Illinois as per the program. Canada, Australia and the Philippines are where the problems are so far.

Am I missing something? Am I being dense as I’ve been known to be from time to time? Was there something we were suppose to do to change the listings? Big Chris is confused.

@onthescrews

It is not just YOU.  There are many other posts on this issue already.   Though I am not certain at this point, it is more of "all EIS" or nothing, and there are many exclusions to the program.  Hopefully, those with more experience in this newly established (forced) program can provide advice.

Re: EIS issues

Can you provide some item numbers that buyers say they can't purchase?

In what countries are these buyers located?

This info will help us to check if the listings (or biz policies) need to be updated or if it might be a country/product restriction @onthescrews.

These are 3 from the last 24 hours. I appreciate greatly that you’re helping.

We have also received this notice 5 times in the last 10 days from eBay concerning other international orders sent to the hub:

“We wanted to let you know that unfortunately this item could not be shipped internationally. As a result, your order can’t be fulfilled. This could be due to import restrictions or eligibility requirements. You get to keep the sale and we’ve issued a refund to your buyer.“

Re: EIS issues

None of those listings have international shipping enabled and your excluded locations do not appear to be extensive.

This leads us to 2 possibilities:

1. Item is blocked by EIS for international sales

2. Issue with EIS application to the listing.

To research the possibility a block, I examined other listings. The category itself is not blocked.

This listing 234915138540 does not have EIS but this listing 334723713557 does. Both are listed in the same category.

This might be an EIS issue we need to ask eBay for help, but before we do that let's first check your shipping settings @onthescrews. First, can you tell me if you use business policies or not? That will determine what we check next.

Re: EIS issues

We have shipping policies and the vast majority of our listings use the same one. Is that what you’re asking?

Re: EIS issues

Yes. So can you confirm if these 2 listings are using the same shipping policy? In addition can you confirm if package size is the same on both?

234915138540

334723713557

If they match then that rules out any issue with your shipping settings. And we can tag in eBay for help. Let me know @onthescrews.

Especially since you've had some packages unable to forward I'm leaning towards some kind of category restriction that isn't evenly/appropriately applied.

Are all of your international shipments - the ones you shipped out - getting the message about unable to ship internationally or is that just certain countries?

Re: EIS issues

234915138540 was missing dimensions altogether. Occasionally a listing that uses a template slips through the cracks on us. I corrected it. The two packages vary slightly in dimensions in that 234915138540 is 36” and 334723713557 is 40”. But like I said, the 36” was just entered a few minutes ago. I’ve checked and the listings we’re getting questions about have the dimensions listed. All our packages are from 36” to 48”.

i checked the tracking on our international shipments going back to Feb 1. All but two say they cannot be exported. I assume I will shortly be getting notices about being undeliverable on the rest of them. The two that got through went to Canada and Chile. Canada is one of the problem countries also. Big Chris is even more confused.

Re: EIS issues

Packages cannot:

  • Exceed 44 lbs. for every country except Canada (Canada’s max is 66 lbs.) - billable weight (not actual)
  • Exceed 42 inches in Length, 79 inches in Length + Girth

So, the 48" is out (for example)

Re: EIS issues

That would explain some of them. Unfortunately they’re allowing the sales to go through at those dimensions, and now buyers are understandably upset. Most of the issues/questions buyers have asked about have been in the 36” - 40” range.

What is the length + girth of rejected packages?

Of the 2 packages that are still pending?

Since many of your listings don't present an international shipping option and those that do are all being rejected when they get to the EIS hub, this is looking more and more like a category restriction that hasn't been correctly implemented.

We've been seeing a lot more category restrictions with EIS than GSP @onthescrews - from boat propellers to cosmetics. Things that shipped GSP without issue are being blocked by EIS. We're still working to learn whether there are errors involved or if they are category restrictions. Boat propellers and a lot of motors parts were confirmed category (and/or condition) restrictions. Cosmetics still waiting to hear. I think someone reported fishing poles were an issue (unless I'm remembering incorrectly)? Now golf clubs.

Hey devon@ebay - another EIS question. Can you ask them if golf clubs have a blanket restriction? If so, there are issues here since many of the OP's golf club listings offer EIS and others do not.

If the category as a whole is banned then the OP needs to know so they can make other international shipping options available.

It also presents a problem that many of their listings show EIS but packages are being rejected at the hub. They appear to have sold golf clubs successfully with GSP.

There's conflicting info in the eBay pages on package dimensions.

I just asked about it on this thread, post #28:

Re: EIS issues

The dimensions of all the post-sale rejected items are 48”, including the pending ones that I’m assuming will meet the same fate. The dimensions of the ones we are receiving questions on range from 36-48”.

Re: EIS issues

What about girth?

36-42" should be OK  if not exceeding 79" combined length + girth.

Anything longer than 42" will be rejected at the hub, if not blocked based on dimensions in the listing.
