Does anyone else have this problem? Here's what I see. Been trying to do this for the last week or so as my current phone number on file is dead. Can someone humor me and try it themselves and tell me what you see? Change it back to your original if you were successful. I currently don't get any calls ebay makes to me now.

You are not the only one experiencing this. This seems to be another ongoing GLITCH in e-glitch. This brings back some bad memories about 3 years ago when we were plagued by glitches...remember...when they were changing formats, like our purchase history page and the white all over our listings?

They are moving yet again to change formats over and this may be the reason for the glitches. Our old eBay "all selling page" is gone and the new version is just as "helpful" as every other "upgrade" that they tend to do around here.

...I don't DARE do as you request and attempt to change my phone number and then change it back...knowing e-glitch, I will be able to change it and THEN won't be able to change it back...I am NOT THAT BRAVE - LOL!!!

...I'm so over it...can you tell???

I get the same error message when trying to edit my registered phone number, though I was still able to verify my current mobile number via text.

I also tried changing my phone number on ebay.ca and got the same error.

@eburtonlabcan be brave...he can get himself out of most tech messes that I can't even begin to try - LOL!!!

Can you check on this............could be a real problem if/when ebay needs to verify something.

People will stop trying to put in the right number if it keeps on too long......

Yea, I need it to change my current bank account on file ASAP. It's asking for me to verify with a security code sent to my current phone number on file (which is dead).

If possible, you might try changing your phone number using the eBay app.

I got as far as verification, but was unable to proceed because my number was a landline that could not receive texts.

But if you have a number that can receive a text, you may be able to update your number that way.

Actually I just went back to the web site and tried to update my number again, and this time I did not receive an error message. I was able to change to a landline number, and then back to my mobile number.

Still doesn’t work for me. Do you think it will if I also try to change to a landline, then back to a mobile?

If so, now I gotta try and find a landline. Ebay shouldn’t make us have to jump thru all these hoops for a simple function.

It is possible that trying to change the number via the app affected things and allowed the web site to work, but that is only a guess.

Lol I don’t even have the app, as I hear it’s basically the devil for eBay sellers. I might consider installing it to check out this theory. I don’t know much about the app except from scanning the threads here about it... any chance logging into the app will unexpectedly change something else in my account/listings as a side effect and cause more damage?

The only ill-effect I can think of from installing the app on your phone would be that eBay browser links might be set to open in the app by default on your phone.

If that happens, you can undo that setting with the instructions here:
