Can't change my phone number on file

Does anyone else have this problem? Here's what I see. Been trying to do this for the last week or so as my current phone number on file is dead. Can someone humor me and try it themselves and tell me what you see? Change it back to your original if you were successful. I currently don't get any calls ebay makes to me now.

To which my reply was:  "I don't DARE do as you request and attempt to change my phone number and then change it back...knowing e-glitch, I will be able to change it and THEN won't be able to change it back...I am NOT THAT BRAVE - LOL!!!"

After further investigation, it appears that I can change my phone number if I use one computer on one network, but not if I use another computer on another network. The effect does not appear browser-dependent at all.

I am able to change my phone number using the app, but only if the new number is previously verified, or else a mobile number that can be verified by text. Trying to change to a landline results in a failed verification since the landline does not respond to texts. It seems the app assumes the new number is a mobile number, where the browser version makes me to choose either landline or mobile number explicitly.

Trying to change my phone number using a mobile browser in desktop mode gives me the same error message as the OP, even when connected to the network that otherwise allows me to change my number using another desktop computer.

Yup. Still going on for me. It's not like this thing is going to fix itself. @hurryagain LOL no need to test it anymore as I know I'm not the only one. I'll bet you'll have the same problem too if you tried.

I'm with you bigdeals.etc.   I'm not changin' nothin'.   I will use my laptop.  I like my mobile phone for hello and goodbye and GPS.  To hell with the mobile app for ebay.    My fingers are much faster on my laptop keyboard than they are trying to hunt and peck on the stupid mobile phone.   And I am not using my thumbs like I see so many texters doing.

@eburtonlabSo this is just an FYI, the problem obviously still exists. BUT I got lucky and was able to finally update my phone number. You know how ebay randomly asks you to confirm your phone number or your security questions? Sometimes the prompt/page will pop up when I revise a listing, end a listing, check my ebay inbox, or even check my awaiting shipment page. So I was clicking to see the details of a new return filed, and that page popped up to "please confirm your current contact number". I went and changed that number to my new number and they took it. I double checked in my business info and it now shows my new number... I just clicked to verify it and I believe it's a done deal.

brian@ebayThis problem still exists for many members... I asked personal friends with ebay accounts and they have that problem too. It's shows how broken ebay as a site is, when you are forced to wait for a random pop up to change your account security settings. Security should be top priority for ebay, but we see they are too busy with designing new page layouts and graphics. I wouldn't be surprised if eventually ebay will glitch out when you try to change your account password too... the horror.

This has been going on with me for about a week now. Cannot post any listings. Tried multiple different computers, networks and phone numbers. Zero help from support.

I had the same issue and couldn’t change my number using a web browser but was able to do so via the Ebay app.

Problems are still there, been trying for several weeks, different browsers, different PC's even tried the app on my tablet. Still unable to change my phone number. This means the site is a security issue for me and will result in my account cancellation.  It's surprising that eBay can be tbis sloppy in their security.

Hey velvet@ebay. This is an old thread, but it looks like some eBayers are still having problems updating their phone number. Can you please check if the ticket is still open and if it is, provide the ticket number that @rogtho-llgbpki7 and @nds93 can reference when contacting customer support?

I don't know if it still works, but upthread another poster was able to update their phone number using the app so if either of you has that option you may want to try it.

I tried the app, still no go. And haven't heard anything back about my issues except the common response,  "try agin in 48 to 72 hours" its been a few weeks now.
