Post dates out of order

Within a thread, why are the post out of order? Ex Oct 14, Oct 15, Oct 20, Oct 14 etc.

Is it part of the new and improved experience. 🙃

Admittedly, I didn't read @eburtonlab's link to a previous thread, in which I'm sure I voiced my opinion vociferously, but you should be able to choose the "Threaded format" or the "Linear format" from the Options drop-down menus on any board that has been transitioned into the new format. I know this board and the Selling board can be displayed either way, too, but I didn't check other boards.

According to a new Community Team member, there is apparently a need "to [put] some new energy back into the Community and . . . make Community a better experience for you." I take it the "Threaded format" isn't doing it for you, eh? It doesn't make you feel reenergized? Your experience has not been enhanced by it?

Once again, eBay's Community Team manages to fall short of its intended goal.

Re: Post dates out of order

I double checked and I have it on linear. The post are still out of order (threaded).

Yes, I’ve seen your posts and completely agree. They will keep messing them up until the next batch of people come in. 😩

Hate to even be the one to suggest this, but have you tried clearing your eBay cookies? (In Chrome, anyway, you can choose specific sites to clear, just so you don't have to clear cookies from all sites.)

It could just be hung up on a cookie . . . *fingers crossed*

You're right about "the next batch of people." We're already seeing long-time, reliable posters being replaced by new Community members (although not necessarily new to eBay), who have been giving less-than-reliable advice. *shrug*

@loveyourimagination49- In addition to changing to linear on the forum page- you also need to change it to oldest to newest within an individual thread. I think I posted that discovery on the linked thread, but that thread is kind of a mess and I don't really remember. Once you change it within a thread it will apply to all the rest. Pretty backwards, but that's how it is.

This board ignores any profile settings you have that already default oldest to newest.

Really it all begs the questions:

- Why is this board still in the threaded format when every single poster hates it?

- Why is the test of hidden quotes also still happening when everyone determined it  was too flawed and not working in a helpful way (which is why it was never rolled out to other forums)?

Oh, good grief. I forgot all about having to make that switch, too.

Do the threads on this board still show up only in threaded format for you? You can't make them display in linear format?

All mine show up in linear format now that I've selected it.

Re: Post dates out of order

I successfully changed to linear format after you told me about it. Before that all I found on my own was the sort oldest to newest.

I didn't go back and read it again, but I said the threaded reply discussion was a mess because-

- Every single poster expressed hatred for it while every eBay employee basically ignored that (evidenced by the fact that it hasn't been rolled back yet)

- eBay employees who rarely post were cheering it on- and they hadn't even seen it in action yet when they wrote those posts

- And- of course- the flashbacks from when it was out of order. Post traumatic stress. 😩

Re: Post dates out of order

I had already done that too. I did double check. I haven’t tried the cookie thing yet. I should say I’m on iPhone and haven’t checked my laptop yet.

Could it just be a phone issue? BB

It does the same thing on laptop. From the link posted above it’s 7/29, 7/29, 8/5, 7/29

Re: Post dates out of order

I'd say check it the next time you log in and the changes should show.

I'm definitely not going to advise you to try that right now while log in is still broken. At your leisure.

I've been logged out about 4 times in the last 10 minutes. Ugh this gets worse by the minute.

Re: Post dates out of order

The only other thing I can think of- revert to newest to oldest. Revert to threaded format. Log out. Clear cache/cookies. Log back in. First change sort oldest to newest. Then change to linear format.

I am sure not every single poster hates it, I don't.
