Re: Anyone else find this insulting?

We just moved from the North to Chattanooga, where a lot of the poor people who were forced from their homes stated their long walk, mostly to death. I find it very offensive being used in a flippant manner like that.

I thought it was bad as well, but have just stopped responding to that poster and their 3-5 threads a day about how horrible eBay and managed payments are.

I find it insulting that moderators seem to feel censoring that poster is beyond them while they'll slap people for much less.

The least they could is issue them a warning to give it a rest already (as they don't see fit to give us an actual ignore function).

Re: Anyone else find this insulting?

A little OT, but your post reminded me of a friend of a friend who relocated to the US from Australia 2-3 years ago. Anyway, this person would complain sooooo much about their job on social media. About how stressful and tiresome it is. One time, she wrote a post saying how difficult it is at work for her. And I quote, "Seriously, public accounting has been so demanding lately that it's literally worse than slavery."

My immediate reaction was "whoa." I never brought it up to her because I didn't know her well enough. But I'm PRETTY sure your white collar job at where you make a very decent living (where you get the occasional busy days) is NOWHERE near a situation where your entire being is owned by another human 24/7 and being forced to work for no pay until you die.

I thought hmm, maybe because she's Australian and doesn't understand much about US and slavery. But I quickly dismissed that thought. The unfortunate thing is that her post received plenty of likes and comments by others giving sympathy on how difficult her work must be. It's sad if no one puts you on check. Everyone (myself included) needs a kick in the butt to keep ourselves grounded every now and then.

Re: Anyone else find this insulting?

Already did.

I can't believe how low some people will go to post attention getting rants about the same subject daily for weeks.

Using the Trail Of Tears where thousands of Native Americans died in his latest rant about managed payments is offensive, disrespectful and cruel.

Re: Anyone else find this insulting?

It appears the Moderators have now removed that post on the Payments board.

Many thanks to the Mods for eliminating that incendiary post.

Hi,

Please always be sure to use the report tool, found under the three dots if you see inappropriate content. That is the best and fastest way to get moderation eyeballs on the content.

Thanks!

Re: Anyone else find this insulting?

I understand the history of the phrase, and I too believe it to be inappropriate in the sense of its use on the subject matter in question. When one wants to express their feelings and/or thoughts towards eBay, here, in "let's say" a poetic sense, well, it's a good idea to use one's own original expressions and the subject matter should be clear and readily understood by any readers of it.

With me, my dissatisfaction with eBay, isn't just the MP enactment, it's many things that eBay has pushed onto the sellers throughout the passing of years. And I could voice my dissatisfaction, with all of them at this juncture, but it'd merely be me repeating my own words.

And I've read many posts by "let's say" the eBay loyalists (and sometimes I use the word sheep, but not very offten, for I don't like being offensive towards animals; especially sheep) anyway, those loyalists posts pretty much say if you don't like it here, selling things, then move on, so that's what I did, but do realize by moving on, I also don't buy things here, very often, if at all, anymore.

And just a note: I surely agree that the reffered phrase was inappropriate, but I think the POTUS has somewhat cleared a path through the trees of proper reasoning, in which one might surmise such has possible enticed others to follow behind Him. But the point of this thread seems to say one should be wise with their expressions and try to present proper reasoning in those expressions, regardless of the path created by what seemly is a self-appointed King, per se.

The above is merely my opinions and I am not aware of any factual research to say otherwise.
