Re: problem with address

Don't be concerned.

Send it to the address on the ebay label.

You're covered.

It almost certainly is NOT an empty lot regardless of what Google Streetview shows you. If you can purchase a label through Ebay then it will have been validated as deliverable. Just ship it. (Why would anyone including a scammer provide a delivery address to a vacant lot? Its not as if the carrier is going to say 'Oh well - I guess I will just deliver it to someplace nearby instead'. 😄)

Re: problem with address

Google is not always up to date.

If you want to verify an address, use something more official than Google, such as USPS:

Re: problem with address

google is not always correct. For years googling my address would show a spot in the woods several hundred feet up the highway from my location.

If you google my old address, it shows you the empty lot at the end of the road on the Bayou.

Whenever I would have Uber Eats or other deliveries (and local sales pick ups), I would tell them "Do not believe GPS or Google Maps.  The house is bright yellow and it is on the left as soon as you turn the corner.  If you see the water, you have gone too far."

Re: problem with address

That would be an understandable assumption based on eBay's ability to vet all addresses as "verified". Unfortunately,  even a deliverable address by one carrier, can be undeliverable for another and yet still be verified. I have personally been scammed on two occasions by buyers who used a verifiable address that were undeliverable. One was the result of a commercial address with a residence above dropped off by Fedex, and the other sent by USPS required a security code, which then ended up at the local PO. On each occasion, the buyer filed an INR forcing the refund. Once paid, the buyer was able to obtain both the refunds and items.

Re: problem with address

Could you call that local post office to confirm the address?

Re: problem with address

Most brand new homes show up on Google as an empty lot.

Re: problem with address

In the future you will have so many sales that you wont have time to google each address/order.   😃

What exactly did the tracking say in each case? If they were scanned as Delivered (including Awaiting Pickup in the case of the security code - what was that?), then the buyer's INR should have gone nowhere.

Re: problem with address

My new subdivision took 4+ years to appear on Google Maps when I moved in.  Not just my house, the entire subdivision.  Unless you're paying for the live version, it can be woefully out of date & I don't live in podunk, I live in a city of almost 1M.  Just ship.

Re: problem with address

Years ago, hubby got a GPS. Just for kicks, I put in a destination address even though I knew the location.

I was directed to travel east on Bracken Road, then turn right into Spring Falls subdivision, follow curve keeping to the left. At first stop sign, turn right and continue east on Bracken Rd. I exited the subdivision at the same place I entered. Go figure.

Re: problem with address

@qatara

You can't be sure that this is correct.  Google maps are about 3 years behind.  Most internet type maps are.  So just a waste of your valuable time to do that.

The thing is, you can be covered by Seller Protection for an INR if you follow these rules on EVERY item you ship.

1.  ALWAYS ship to the address on the purchase of the item.  NEVER change it a buyer asks you, you must ship to that address.

2.  Ship with tracking and make sure it gets uploaded to Ebay WITHIN your stated handling time if you use a different site other than Ebay to purchase your shipping.

3.  If the total order is $750 or above, make sure you do Signature Confirmation upon delivery.
