feedbacks

After selling for over 6 years on eBay, I just received my first Neg. feedback from a buyer who left me 2 Neg feedback on two purchases that were made over 2 months ago without even contacting me to let me know of any issues, even though I contact them if they have any issues to please contact me first and I will make it right for them..NOTHING-No COMMUNUCATON, I know this should not upset me but first thing in the morning I turned on the computer and I see this, it was very hurtful. I did requested revision and explain myself and also responded to her feedback comment, still no reply.

I honestly do not feel it's right when a buyer does this without contacting the seller first. Further more I do not feel neg. or neutral feedbacks should be left for a WHOLE year, really? It's a constant reminder, like eBay is punishing us or something, and buyers should only have 30 days to leave feedback not 45 days, who came up with this number and why? The only update eBay has done with feedbacks in the past 10 years is allow us to write more words, that's it. It's upsetting and sad and just as hurt people hurt others so to feel better, until they break this cycle is the only way they can heal themselves. Still I must admit it has affected my day today and I can't seem to let go of it, has anyone felt this way? Thank you

They are unbranded, most of BJ  or any other designer jewerly would have a stamp on them I think?

I clearly indicate no stamp no upc code unbranded or inspired. I purchase them with tags from a seller on eBay from China.

You used the NAME Betsy Johnson, which is the brand...........  you are buying counterfeits.....

I do understand this and I did contact eBay and I was told I can use the word "inspired" and also indicate no Stamp as well, they are thousand of "inspired" jewerly on eBay and this word must be indicated on the listing which what I was told. I cannot use the word "Authentic" if they are not and I do not use this word. Thank you for your comment.

As others have explained it's not the word authentic that's the problem, it's using a designer's name.

Inspired is ok but not Betsy Johnson Inspired.. You could use Designer Inspired..

It's a violation to use the name of a designer brand for an item that was not made by that designer.

Re: feedbacks

I heard a lot of buyers buy from Temu which is in China and re-sell items on eBay because the items are or actually were very cheap.

Imagine the item(s) being marked up a few times.

Changing the title to 'Inspired by the Designer of...' might help.

Just a thought.

Re: feedbacks

"I understand you are right, I honest thought I was doing the right thing by indicated no stamp no upc code unbranded and so on, this is how I purchased them on eBay they are 'inspired" like so many jewerly "

If the earrings are 'inspired', you cannot put in the title that they are 'Betsy Johnson', thats copyright infringement, and can get you into real trouble with her brand.

Re: feedbacks

In addition to the fact that you can't list fakes, can't claim the designer in the title (it's called Keyword Spamming & is very much against the rules), you should also never ask for a Revision Request unless you have communicated with the buyer, worked it out with them & have their agreement to change the Feeback.  You only have 5 Rev Requests a year & you just blew 2 on someone who was never going to agree.

Also, you will get FB without any contact, that's life, move on.  But quit selling fakes, it's not okay!  You also can't say NOT Betsey Johnson, b/c that would also be KWS (keyword spamming).

Also, ignore the comment about it's obviously fake b/c it's made in China.  It's obviously fake in this case, but most of this cheap but REAL Betsey is made in China too!  Betsey stuff has been all over the discount stores for years.

The product is made in China, it is not "Authentic" it is inspired by this designer, I purchase my item on eBay from a seller who sells these and I re-sell them on eBay at a slightly over price.

You decided that the risk was worth it to use "inspired" by a certain designer instead of being crystal clear it is a knock off.  That was a choice you made in the hopes it would help you to sell more items.  YOU decided this was a good business policy for your little business.

You have every right to make that choice.  Others have every right to disagree with you as it is borderline deceptive.  You are aware that by wording it the way you do that some buyers will not realize they are buying a knock off.  But for the sake of selling more, you decided this was a path you wanted to go down.

We we make choices like this, then you also should be willing to accept and live with the ramifications of YOUR decision.

Now as I'm confident you know, Gemstones and Rhinestones are NOT the same thing.  Using "inspired" is deceptive and you are aware of that.

Gemstone = a mineral, petrified substance, or organic material valued for its beauty, rarity, and durability, and often cut and polished for use in jewelry or for display

Rhinestone = an imitation stone of high luster made of glass or paste often cut to resemble a diamond.

You do this on all kinds of stuff.

After reading your feedback and follow-up responses, i am afraid you are in the wrong here. If the earrings are “inspired by” Betsey Johnson, then they cannot be labelled as BJ. They are counterfeits or replicas and therefore not allowed to be listed with BJ keywords. It does not matter that you did not say they were “not authentic”. The listings are misleading. Neither listing indicates these are anything but Betsey Johnson products. You may see sellers trying to get around policy by using qualifiers or disclaimers  like “inspired by” etc. but it is a slippery slope. See the link below to the eBay policy.

You are so right.  This is actually Search Manipulation.  You can't use a Brand name in the title even if you say it is a knock off or is "inspired".  It is a breach of the rules.  And even have the designers name written on the earring card.  So darn deceptive.

 And more of them too.

  • Manipulating search results to gain unfair visibility of a listing is not allowed
  • Using keywords that are not directly related to the item for sale is not allowed. All the words in the listing need to be accurate and refer only to the item for sale
  • If the item is an accessory for or compatible with another item, "fits", "for" or "compatible with" should be stated before the name of the compatible item. However, "fits", "for" or "compatible with" is not allowed before the brand names of jewelry, clothing and accessories, or universally compatible items
  • Listings that make comparisons with other products are not allowed
  • Listings that promote other listings are not allowed
  • Listings can't include keywords with question marks, as this can be misleading for buyers. If any item details are unclear or unknown, they should be left out of the listing
  • Offering a choice of different products in a single listing is not allowed. This includes:
    • Selling different brands or models in the same listing (for example, an iPhone 6 and an iPhone 7)
    • Selling different items with different conditions in the same listing (for example, "new" and "used" items)

DON'T contact Ebay unless you are looking to get yourself into trouble.  You didn't go and take these listings down when you learned this here.  They are still posted.  So reporting yourself not likely a good idea for the health of your selling account.

How are you not aware they are knock offs.  You are using the word "inspired" because you are aware they are not the brand you are claiming they are.

Re: feedbacks

Buyers have 60 days to leave feedback, not 45 days.

And, obviously, eBay is the entity who "came up with this number".  They're not required to explain why.

Re: feedbacks

So ...........after all  this.........you list a batch of unbranded (noted in IS) Betsey Johnson stuff, using the name in the title and description on 4/22?  Description states no "stamp".

Would you tell us why you think this is ok?
