After selling for over 6 years on eBay, I just received my first Neg. feedback from a buyer who left me 2 Neg feedback on two purchases that were made over 2 months ago without even contacting me to let me know of any issues, even though I contact them if they have any issues to please contact me first and I will make it right for them..NOTHING-No COMMUNUCATON, I know this should not upset me but first thing in the morning I turned on the computer and I see this, it was very hurtful. I did requested revision and explain myself and also responded to her feedback comment, still no reply.
I honestly do not feel it's right when a buyer does this without contacting the seller first. Further more I do not feel neg. or neutral feedbacks should be left for a WHOLE year, really? It's a constant reminder, like eBay is punishing us or something, and buyers should only have 30 days to leave feedback not 45 days, who came up with this number and why? The only update eBay has done with feedbacks in the past 10 years is allow us to write more words, that's it. It's upsetting and sad and just as hurt people hurt others so to feel better, until they break this cycle is the only way they can heal themselves. Still I must admit it has affected my day today and I can't seem to let go of it, has anyone felt this way? Thank you

So you are going to take down the Betsey Johnson listings or revise them to omit the name?
whole other id with BJ stuff? These say BJ in the specifics but no mention of a stamp.........do they have a stamp?
Your feedback issue may be resolved, but the counterfeit issue isn't as long as you are using her name.
I'm not trying to "dog" you, but someone is going to report these the BJ and you're going to have problems.......

I'm really confused, honestly.
First, just to put this out there, it's business, not personal. Let it go.
But the feedback says "Not signed". On earrings, which were not advertised as signed, as far as I can tell.
Yet your response (which is not helping you) goes off on a rant about them not being advertised as "Authentic", rather than responding to what the feedback actually says, and also gives me big flashing warning signs in that nothing should be listed on eBay which is not authentic. You cannot list fakes even if you advertise them as fakes, and it's especially bad if they are fakes and you tried to disguise that fact and are now defending yourself despite knowing they were fakes. If that's not the case, then your response is just especially confusing.
Edit: you have a neutral feedback from the same customer with basically the same comment, and the exact same response from you. This is not looking positive for you in this case, regardless of the actual concern.

Don't let this ruin your day..
I'm sorry, I know how upsetting it can be but...
I read the FB and your reply to it and neither would prevent me from buying from you.
You still have a very good rating at 99.8% so don't let it throw you..
Remember your reply to feedback is a message to future buyers...

How can you claim they are unbranded when the card and title clearly says "Betsy Johnson". ?
Do genuine Betsy Johnson items have a stamp/initials?

Some buyers are like that...you also got a neutral on the same sold item.
My thought is what to do with current items for sale.
Who is Betsey Johnson...Is that a person from China?
Here's the thing...it states Made in China in description...so one can assume they are fake.
Do items say Made in China?...or do you just assume they are?
As for feedbacks...I agree...sellers are stuck with them for too long and it should be changed but then an employee would have to do an algorithm to change it...rather than figure how to make more profits for eBay.
I would not respond to the feedbacks until after asking for a buyer's revision...and then maybe respond with something funny if no feedback revision or don't respond to the feedbacks at all.
In any case, you sell quite a bit so I don't think feedbacks matter as much these days.
Just keep selling and block the buyer(s).
I have been looking at a neutral for almost a year now...I got over it.

Um, your reply to the neg states, "I clearly indicate on the listing that my earrings do not have stamp nor upc code, most of my earrings are inspired and I do not use the word "authentic" any were in my description,".
Do you understand that you are admitting to selling counterfeits, which are illegal? Using the Betsey Johnson name in your listing title and on the product card is a copyright violation. You can't use a brand name on an item that is not authorized by the copyright holder.

I agree with you and I also have had Negative feedbacks left by buyers who did not pay attention to my description or even look at all the photos. One of them even admitted in a message that he just glanced and bought it. Ebay would not do anything about it and told me to respect the buyers decision. How is it possible not to be upset when they just let buyers leave whatever feedback they choose even if they are at fault and ebay will still side with them. We - Sellers are the ones who get penalized for this, not the buyer. It makes us look bad. I think eBay needs to rethink these rules they have in place since the Seller is not safe anymore and without us listing our items on their site, THEY would have NO buyers. I'm done ranting now.

Thank you so much for your reply, I totally agree with your comments, I understand we need buyers but we need sellers as well, both are equally important , eBay should rethink these policies and place new ones that protect not only the buyer but the seller. Have a great rest of your day.

I do understand this and I did contact eBay and I was told I can use the word "inspired" and also indicate no Stamp as well, they are thousand of "inspired" jewerly on eBay and this word must be indicated on the listing which what I was told. I cannot use the word "Authentic" if they are not and I do not use this word. Thank you for your comment.

If you can't authenticate it's really her collection, I would think it's a bad idea to use her name. Maybe you should check with her website team to see if these actually are her collection, because lots of knock offs come from China. Her products are made there, but she puts her initials on them, as far as I know. Here's her website: https://betseyjohnson.com/?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=Betsey%7CGoogle%7CSearch%7C....
Your customer may have a valid point, so ebay isn't going to remove it. So sorry. Don't take it personally.

The product is made in China, it is not "Authentic" it is inspired by this designer, I purchase my item on eBay from a seller who sells these and I re-sell them on eBay at a slightly over price.
04-22-2025 02:19 PM
They are unbranded, most of BJ or any other designer jewerly would have a stamp on them I think?
I clearly indicate no stamp no upc code unbranded or inspired. I purchase them with tags from a seller on eBay from China.

Thank you so much for your reply this has helped me.
04-22-2025 02:21 PM
After reading your feedback and follow-up responses, i am afraid you are in the wrong here. If the earrings are “inspired by” Betsey Johnson, then they cannot be labelled as BJ. They are counterfeits or replicas and therefore not allowed to be listed with BJ keywords. It does not matter that you did not say they were “not authentic”. The listings are misleading. Neither listing indicates these are anything but Betsey Johnson products. You may see sellers trying to get around policy by using qualifiers or disclaimers like “inspired by” etc. but it is a slippery slope. See the link below to the eBay policy.

I understand you are right, I honest thought I was doing the right thing by indicated no stamp no upc code unbranded and so on, this is how I purchased them on eBay they are 'inspired" like so many jewerly
