feedback

Why is it the sellers responsibility to leave feedback first, I think it should be buyer first. I got tired of leaving feedback first then basically having to almost beg for feedback, so I quit doing it

Re: feedback

There's no set rule on who leaves feedback first.  It's not the seller's responsibility.  I often get it from a buyer before I leave it for them.  Out of courtesy I leave it for a seller asap when the experience has been positive.

Re: feedback

It is not.

I do, but it is not required.

Feedback to the buyer is a vestige of the past. Only + so means nothing.

Meh... feedback is voluntary so it's certainly not the responsibility  of either party to leave it... first, last or at all.

Wise, though, that you don't beg for feedback, as that can certainly backfire on you.

Re: feedback

If you get tired of leaving feedback first, here's the good news -- no one is required to leave it at all.

Re: feedback

Neither said has to leave any feedback, so it doesn't matter who does it first.

Have A Great Day.

There's no obligation to leave feedback at all.  I probably have around 30+ transactions over the years where sellers never left feedback.  Feedback for the buyer is a nice gesture, but as has been noted here, it's meaningless.  The only feedback I pay attention to, FWIW, is that which is left for the seller I'm buying from.

Re: feedback

As a new seller and the issues with floods, hurricanes and fires, I leave feedback when I know that the item has been delivered.

I never ask for feedback nor do I expect it. I leave it because it is a way to thank the buyer for their purchase.

I'm just happy that something sold and maybe the item went where it was meant to go.

Re: feedback

I leave feedbacks on cheap items first...and I get most of my feedbacks from selling cheap items.

Expensive items I wait for buyers to leave feedbacks first.

For me, I like to see a seller who has feedbacks before I make a purchase.

That's decides if I want to make that purchase.

Feedbacks are important to me since I sell a lot and buy a lot.

Some sellers don't care and some buyers don't care.

Never had problems with a seller usually...so it works for me.

If half of sellers and buyers 'read' the feedbacks of others there wouldn't be so many 'post' here of having problems with sellers and buyers...LOL

Re: feedback

WRONG thinking!

You are a seller. Thank the customer (automate it and you won't ever have to 'write one' or 'hear about it' again) and move on.

Like you go to the local corner liquor store and the clerk says "$23.45"; gives you change for $25.00, says NOTHING, turns and continues stocking the back shelf.

Re: feedback

When I get ready to do feedback, I like to do all of it at the same time, whether buying or selling.

It's just what I do.  And I know things.

Re: feedback

It's true that feedback either way is not required, but it's much more than a vestige of the past.

So if you're into having good customer service, then after the buyer sends payment, their job is over  and should be recognized with a show of appreciation from the seller. This often results in a satisfied customer and even repeat buyers.

I have my stamps dot com account send an automated positive feedback at the time my postage is printed and the details are posted back to eBay and my customer. The reason why I do this is that it is automatic and doesn't take any of my time even at eBay, and shows my customers that I appreciate their business.

Never expect to have to "beg a buyer for feedback"... it's tacky and not a good reflection on a seller who requests it. Whether the buyer sends feedback or not has no effect on my customer service, and I have a lot of happy repeat customers, to whom feedback from a seller is important as a simple token that makes them feel good. Don't you want your customers to feel good that they purchased from you?

Cheers, Duffy

Re: feedback

As a seller, when you "beg for feedback", don't you worry that you'll catch that buyer in a bad mood and he'll growl, "OK, here's your feedback" and leave something you don't want on your FB profile?

Re: feedback

As said, no one is required to leave feedback........ However some buyers are addicted to feedback and will leave negs if they don't get it from a seller.  I think of leaving it as a thank you and a preventive measure to protect my account. Long ago, I gave up getting mad because most buyers don't leave it.
