Ever since ebay changed view count on sellers listing, I've not seen any new views

this started happening this week I think Monday 5/16/2022

I wasn't sure it was an overall thing, like so many other sellers are having the same issue, ''I don't run a store, Not worth my while, ''I would be out of pocket even more, ebay has got worse over the years, and is harder to sell anyway, ''I spend a lot of time on keywords and go with ebay's SEO But now with the Introducing of the Promtotion, It's really dead in the water,  ''The items I sell are good quality items that have been slightly used but some are new end-of-line items but sometimes branded but sometimes not, ''Whatever it doesn't matter,  ''Still Zero interest in my items ''But they are all good quality but just end of year stock, if they were cheap stuff I would list at 99p but they are worth more than that, even the shoes are good quality, Not China Rubbish ''But my sales are down even more since this new promoting thing has been introduced, My sharing on Social Media Sites are not Worth it now as they were before, ''Your all saying it does not matter about the views, ''Well I disagree Because without the views there is no interest at all and no questions, about the item,  and there are no views even when I've paid for promoting the item, and still no views, ''I'm coming to the conclusion that This is the beginning of the end for Ebay, Because they are never satisfied with what the business is achieving and we can't carry on paying without getting any sales, ''So not worth the Promoting, As I thought that was the Whole point, but now, That is not working either, So REally at a loss?

More than likely you have not had any views in 7 days on your auction.   We do listings almost every day, about 50 new listings every week, with this new algorithm most of the items we list do not get views for the first three or four days.  I think if you are listing for 7 days, you may not see views unless you have high demand items that sell quickly.  You may have to do good until sold on these items and see if you start seeing views , it may take a few days.  The other answers are from sellers that are thinking that each time you relist the auction the views start over.  If this is the case, you are only seeing 7 day views, with good until sold you would see the past 30 day period.  Hope this helps.

Your answer is very helpful, also the BOTS are not counted, so this helps reduce the amount of views from lookers that just want to know if certain items are selling. There are some people mentioning that they have more watchers than views, I had this happen with something I listed yesterday, I think you can scroll over an item and click on watch without actual viewing the full listing.  Hope they buy it!  Thanks for your good help and advise on current events at EBAY.

It is easy to click on watch as you scroll through listings and not actually click on or view the item, counts as impression, usually done by sellers with similar items seeing if yours is selling and at what price it sells for.

I have been selling on Ebay for over 20 years.  From my experience, ever since Ebay changed the view tracking, almost ALL my listings get less than 5 views in a 30 day period.  Most get zero.  Even silver coins or bullion which usually get lots of traffic are not getting viewed.  So, I decided to start searching for my listings and found that most of them do not show up in the search results.  Just one easy example...I listed a silver dollar.  Titled it "1900 Morgan Silver Dollar Excellent Condition - You Grade".  I searched "All Categories"...1900 Morgan Silver Dollar....nothing.  I filtered to Coins and Paper Money....nothing.  I filtered Coins and eBay automatically adds "Morgan 1878-1921"....nothing.  I revised my listing and deleted the last four terms in the title....nothing.  I contacted eBay agent....told me I needed to search more generally.  She suggested I search for "Silver Dollar".  Absurd suggestion...270,000+ results.  Told her my title...she searched "Silver Dollar You Grade"....listing shows up.  She feels issue has been resolved.  I responded that that is an absurd approach and that anyone searching for a 1900 Morgan Silver Dollar is going to use those terms.  I also tried filtering for "ungraded".  Didn't show up.  Then I went into my listing and found that you have to click on "show additional options" in the "Additional" section to find the "ungraded" box to check.  Seems kind of dumb to have an "uncertified" AND an "ungraded" descriptor.  Her final recommendation was for me to promote my listing.  Another absurd suggestion and in my view...ebay is intentionally making increasingly more difficult to make a sale so that frustrated sellers will promote their listings...more revenue for eBay.  Ebay needs to fix Cassini as there are major problems with the search function.  Interestingly, while I was chatting with the agent, I searched again with "1900 Morgan Silver Dollar" and it miraculously appeared.  The agent said she was going to put a ticket in for my listings to be "reset"....whatever that means.  Thanks for letting me vent.

if they are cheap auctions and dont get alot of wtchers in the first 24 hours they are completely pushed to the way back. Ran 207 auctions 2 Sundays ago and went thru the categories they were listed in and only 48 showed up. Thats not what I pay ebay for. It has become absolutely horrible lately.

I list some rare maps and as of lately when i do they get no views. If I dont end items and relist daily)as well as add new I would get no sales and no views). ebay seems to just show the top sellers in each category now. There is no even playing field as there use to be. They are making money hand over fist with PLA and they dont care about anything but that.

The numbers DONT always match. I download the report often and have found that Ebay has often inflated the view count for items. Downloaded a report the other day where it said 1 item had 10 views for one day and when i went to that item and looked at the views it had 3 total views for that day. If Ebay says Ive gotten 200 views on my items in one day I download the report and it says otherwise. 200 views in reality is usually 30-40 views. I assume they do this to give a seller some hope and not just close shop like so many others have.

It’s definitely not working, no matter what anyone says. When you have more watchers than views, something isn’t right.

It is entirely possible to get more watchers than views as there are several ways a buyer can put a listing on the watch list without opening the listing (which would create a "view").

Ok great point thanks. However, I used to have 3 watchers per 50 views on average and now I have 3 watchers and 1 view for the same items. Are we saying that because most are now mobile users, views are rarely recorded now? Or just that it’s possible?

No, views are (should be) recorded if/when anyone opens the listing.  That has never changed........what's changed is the bot thing........wherein bots are no longer recorded as views.  They still crawl listings, but just aren't recorded.  In other words, we were getting false view numbers for "real" buyers......and that's what has  changed.

This won't be "popular", but I think it would behoove all of us to pay attention to impressions (how many times ebay shows the listing).......versus views/watchers.........  Granted that we don't know whether they show it on page 99 or page 1.........but if there are alot of impressions and no views/watchers, perhaps we should revisit the listing to see if it can be improved (price/pictures/title/shipping cost.....which is all a buyer sees during that impression).........

I’m having this issue, every time I copied my link to an auction and advertised it on Twitter and Facebook my views would increase by 5-15 but now it’s staying zero for most of my auctions. Please fix this issue, I can no longer tell how many people I’m reaching!
