I do not have good knowledge about how non human traffic works on internet.

I think that non human traffic somehow attracts new human watchers by showing sometimes ebay items on Google, etc.

But probably it is not free for ebay. So they decided to save and instead reduced sales for themselves.

I do not care how many watches shown and during what period, but after this change my monthly sales dropped drastically in comparison with previous months.

Exactly. I have another buying account I sometimes use to watch my selling accounts items etc. So I know I should at least have one view and one watch from using that account. It only shows one watch. I am sure this is a widespread issue but it is very frustrating.

Don't use auctions. Every year less and less buyers even bother to look at auctions. I myself filter them out whenever I am looking for something I actually need, I only every consider them if I am looking to get a collectable WAY BELOW MARKET and I often succeed at that because so few buyers even look at auctions anymore.

The views are the real views now. I have plenty of items that sell on one of the first 3 views.

My personal opinion is that it isnt even about the bloody views.

I think, as with all other ebay inventive schemes, they regularly sit and think of ways to just frustrate and harass sellers. Its as simple as this.

Its typical oppressive business strategy really. Keep the main root assets downtrodden. If they realize their power, even for a second, we are done. So constantly harass. Constantly frustrate. Constantly change good things and make it more harder and difficult to deal with.

You will always find some "less intelligent" people who will explain away or try to justify it, but at the end of the day, it's just normal eBay seller harassment.

This is a garbage place to sell on. Not good for sellers at all. I make money just barely by practically bending backwards, sideways and broken ribs just to sell. I used to sell in other categories, but realized you WILL NOT live if you sell in certain places, so I adjusted.

Now, I give ebay thousands of dollars in fees a month. Ebay couldn't survive without us, yet they harass us every chance they get.

I will NEVER pay ebay more than I have to for promoted listings. All the money they have STOLEN from me over the years in buyer refunds and scam acceptance, with CLEAR evidence of scams to no avail.

Nope. Keep your views. I would have preferred the old way, but I dont care anymore.

I care about my sales.

If I was all you folks out here, I would wait patiently for next month for them to come up with a new way to harass and frustrate sellers.

You KNOW its coming.

Views are way down.  Item that got 150 views a week now might get one.

I agree. I even have items with a new watcher, but it still says 0 views. I have to believe that if they're watching the item they must have looked at it.  I've listed some really neat things the last few weeks (IMO!) and no views on them. 😞

Yes! I have had the same issue. The majority of items I have listed since the change have 0 views and it is very upsetting. I always get views on each item within the first day! I’m even over promoting these items as well. I hope they fix this soon because my sales r down

I don't care if my item has 10,000 views.

I'm more concerned about sales.

The change has nothing to do with getting more views.

It only changes the way the views are reported to you.

Not sure how this pans out as for cause and effect.

But historically when things that dont sell like fire the views would say to me i got fish swimming around....then monthly as my 30 day average of views moved green i most often observed a parrallel with my gross sales...

I also notice whatever the change views more or less no matter since the change...sales down....down hard.   Im also hearing this from many other sellers...

In short no matter how you voice it or reason it...the change corresponds to a slash in sales.

How do we get views less than watchers....or how can 30 days go by with no views.   That had over 8k views over 3 years.......is it a bug? Will it get ironed out then we will make more sales in the future.   Or is it a push towards promoted listings.. but if we all pay 3 percent that the new and the fee of promoted listings means nothing ...unless a seller pumps up the percent...

Is this just ebay doing end around to raise fees??

Yes, @luckythewinner has the correct answer

@ao_stuff ,
If you want to test the system, Ebay had a way that you could see a ton of statistics via an exported excel sheet/report. This report is meant for sellers to have a deeper at their listings and hopefully be able to make educated assumptions that lead to changes resulting in sales. The excel sheets are not pre-formatted in a user-friendly way and a tiny percentage of sellers actually used them. The good news is you can still get these type of reports and create custom reports specific to what you are hoping to learn (page views within the last 30 days being one of many categories reported). Generate a report and see if the numbers match. They will match but it's helpful for you to experience it for yourself.

These days businesses want to be seen and their products seen so everything is about metrics.

It all comes down to eBay’s new ‘product forward’ algorithm. I’ve been doing research with case studies since I rejoined and the results are very clear.

My rare and limited items go through the roof with high views and a lot of watchers, while my average items that would normally sell in open markets get low to no traffic views or watchers.

The new algorithm is equal to a brick and mortar store selling items to customers through a glass window on the store front while moving around the front doors; And in the alleyway is a community of shills writing on the walls that everything is fine since the building is standing.

The modern day eBay programmers are either micromanaging the inputs with selective traffic, or they simply don’t know what they’re doing when brainstorming algorithmic integration.

I give eBay corporation the benefit of the doubt as a huge saturated environment.

Yes. I am experiencing the same thing.

I am a small seller, typically only have between 6-25 items for sale at a time. I sell CDs almost exclusively and though I don't list a large quantity, I grade accurately, ship quickly,  and price VERY aggressively so historically sold at least  1 or 2 listings a week.

I have noticed a huge drop off in both views and sales in the past few months. Items used to get double digit + views a week - now many don't get ANY views. Occasionally an item will have a watcher with no views.  I also have not sold anything in months, regardless of how low I price it.

Additionally, other sites (Discogs, for example) have WAY lower fees and don't charge a percentage on shipping to boot.  Something has definitely changed on eBay, and not for the better.

It's not accurate.  I listed an item this morning, it has no views, but 3 watchers. Since I listed this item less than 2 hours ago, it falls within the 30 day range.
