Would you block a repeat buyer for this?

Have this repeat buyer who’s been buying from me for a couple years. Usually around 2 or sometimes 3 items a week most months. Higher priced items around $50-200. Yesterday he decided to open a return on pretty much half of the items he purchased within the last two months with the message “don’t want it” on every return. 9 returns all at once. Which is going to be a fairly large blow to my business. Some of these items were purchased nearly 60 days ago, some around a month ago, some just last week. Hard to believe he would wait 1 or 2 months to return items he didn’t like if that was really the case. Kinda seems like he probably found something else he wants to buy and figured out he could take advantage of free returns to get the funds. I have free returns enabled for better search placement. And I know getting rid of free returns would encourage false INAD. So nothing that can really be done there. I’ve made a lot selling to this guy. But not sure if the risk this buyer now poses is worth keeping this buyer. Would you block this guy?

Re: Would you block a repeat buyer for this?

I had someone who only said 'I wish to cancel my order' with no explanation....after the item got mailed and it  was 'a promoted' item...and a repeat buyer. Sorry, but to return a payment after item mailed...that's a block buyer for me. Did I ask why buyer cancel...no...I heard enough of sad make-believe stories.

Yes, the sooner the better I would say.

Could be they ran into money trouble and started looking around the house for items they could shop back for quick cash.  Can't know for sure but something must have changed for that to happen.

Re: Would you block a repeat buyer for this?

I would stand with the posters who ask why, and wait a reasonable time for an answer before blocking the buyer.

I would make my message non-confrontational and professional. Given the nature of the merchandise the OP sells I'd want to know.

I'd make my message non-existent, and avoid waiting any amount of time for an answer before blocking the buyer.

Re: Would you block a repeat buyer for this?

More importantly- can't you say NO for all items OVER 30 days?

Oh, never mind- Why IN THE WORLD would you do 60 day returns when NOBODY is required, for ANY reason, to do that??

@vintagecraze50

Just to be noted.

 Per eBay policy ........................ when an ID has been blocked, they can no longer communicate with the seller. That includes ID's that have had a recent transaction with the seller.

Re: Would you block a repeat buyer for this?

It sounds like a hardship case - suddenly lost their job, maybe.

I'd contact them. Friendly if not concerned.

We block a lot of times but not sure in this case. It might matter if they're paying for return shipping or not.

^OMG, THIS^ !!!
Now I'm embarrassed that I didn't say it and can't believe nobody else did before now, in case the OP doesn't know!  If they have (for instance) already blocked the buyer but also wrote to ask why they're doing all these returns, the buyer could write a reply (including a wild card GOOD excuse -like what if he has a dirtbag druggie son who stole his stuff and got his login or something, I mean WHO KNOWS!) ....and send that message, get no notification from eBay that their message is blocked .... and the OP just thinks the buyer didn't reply at all!

I can think of items that could fail to keep working, spoil, discolor, etc. in up to 60 days but aren't supposed to, thus being a big disappointment and worthy of a seller to guarantee that far ahead.
But what .........
.......on god's green Earth......
......could be more stable than ............ FOSSILS????

Whoa, hold up!  When did that change?  Used to be a recent buyer could still contact a seller, they just couldn't purchase.

Re: Would you block a repeat buyer for this?

I was going to state to only honor the returns which fall within Ebay Moneyback Guarantee, but you have 60 day returns selected on your listings.

My recommendation: do away with 60 day returns.

@southern*sweet*tea

Many months now.

Does not matter if we checkmark the " do not allow box" or not, and as posted "all" are blocked from any communication by default. (default of eBay)

Also, unless there has been a change................... the buyer is not told that their message is blocked. They think it was sent.  Community members tested the process.

Protests to eBay have fallen on deaf ears. They know what is best for us.  A "coverall" fix. Possibly for sellers that did not have the wherewithal to know enough to checkmark the box if they wanted no communication.

While I understand the frustration of a single buyer doing multiple returns, 60 day returns are within the parameters of the listings.

Re: Would you block a repeat buyer for this?

60 DAYS IS way to excessive and encourages buy and try and return. Absolutely ridiculous.
