You answered your own question here:
FB = FREE = Local exposure
eBay = Fee's = World wide exposure

I'm guessing nobody told you that making money is against the law, only the Bureau of Engraving and Printing, under the U.S. Department of Treasury, does the actual printing of cash for circulation.
Everything else has to be earned.

How long/how many items have you sold on Marketplace? Have you not had oodles of flake-outs, people saying they'll buy but then not show up, or did show up but then decided not to buy after seeing the item in person, and you had to set aside that time (and maybe drive to a meeting place) for nothing? Have you not had interested parties that gave you some kind of 'creep factor' concern about meeting them in person?
You will. And maybe worse, like someone just grab-n-dashing with your item, paying with well-made counterfeit bills, or doing some kind of retaliation for angering them, in ways they couldn't do without seeing what you look like, what your car tag number is, or pretending to be a different person the next time they contact you about an item, to be in your presence again. No kind of business is 100% annoyance-proof, scam-proof, or safe. But I like how close to perfect ebay is, so yes I find it well worth the fee amounts I pay. As downunder-61 indicated, you get such a larger customer base on ebay, that I guarantee you can get more money for any kind of item by selling it here, that it can well exceed the 'fee amount' difference from the amounts you can get from selling locally.

Why come here and start something? If you don't like it, you know how to log out.
We sell where the money is. And it's not there. Just cheap people who want it cheaper without having to do any of the work.

Whoa. There's nothing about their question that indicates they are trying to "start something." They certainly could be, and maybe I'm naive but I really assumed they were asking in good faith. There are people who sell both on Ebay and Marketplace (maybe depending on the item type, which they could elaborate on if they see this thread), or people transitioning from one to the other.
I think the question is at least POSSIBLY a truly good-faith one. It is truly free to sell items locally on Marketplace, whereas it definitely costs fees to sell here. It makes logical sense to ask if the advantages of selling here are worth the fees.

No.
Why would I want people knocking on my door, or to drive to some “safe” location for a single item sale?

Facebook has nowhere near the customer base that eBay has for one. Yeah, they have a lot of users. But not shopping. So you get more exposure with eBay nationwide and worldwide.
eBay has customer service. Not great customer service, but I can at least get a hold of them. Whereas, it's a tad more difficult with Facebook.
Can't do returns on Facebook. Yeah, great for the seller. But for stuff that isn't local, it will be a consideration when buying stuff.
Even selling locally for pickup is a bigger hassle than shipping. Lack of fees barely make it worth it at times. Even having people come to my home you have to deal with people arriving late, not showing at all, changing their mind last minute, etc. Can always do porch pickup, but probably not feasible with everything you sell. Not to mention the sale price will help determine if you'll do that or not.
And then you have to deal with a lot of tire kickers. Not a huge deal. But can get annoying.

Some items i list on other venues, and have successful transactions on all three you mention. But use eBay for the global reach it affords.
