Why aren't sellers preparing for these changes ahead of time?

The Seller Hub has been out like 4 or 5 years now and we were told, eventually, everyone will be using it.
We were told 3 years ago that they would be replacing Pay Pal with Adyen.
You've had 4 or 5 years to learn to use the Seller Hub, and now that it's time to use it, a bunch are complaining about a change you knew was going to happen at some time.
Managed Payments, you've had 3 years to get ready and now sellers are complaining because they don't have a checking account, or can't get one.
What I don't understand is, why aren't sellers preparing for these changes ahead of time?

Have a great day.

@hurryagain OMG!  I haven't used that page in years!  I had totally forgotten about it.  Thanks for the pictures, as no one has posted that.

Don't feel bad.

I started using the Seller Hub when it was released and I didn't know the Classic page still existed until all the complaints started last month or two.

Have a great day.

EVERYBODY knows that when the new comes out, and when you click on the old and are told the NEW is here, they should start looking at it while the old is still up. Not wait until old is gone and then complain.

Actually I did that a couple years ago.  I tried my best to like the hub over the classic page.  I worked with it for a few weeks, but since the classic was still available, I went back.  I saw no reason to stay there since I had the option.   PLUS, I have no proof other my questionable memory, but somewhere along the way I read on the chat that the classic would remain for anyone (especially smaller) sellers that preferred to use it.   That person is probably no longer employed. 😛

I don't know what chat you're talking about, but eBay has said for years that Managed Payments would be accessible through Seller Hub exclusively. With the intention to enroll all sellers in Managed Payments, there was no reason to pay for the maintenance of My eBay. I was surprised that eBay built in a version of My eBay into Seller Hub. The money that went towards that build could have gone towards adding features to Seller Hub instead. eBay obviously felt it was worth the investment for the small sellers that still used it. Regardless, eBay did keep a version of My eBay around so, speaking without knowing what chat you're referencing, that rep from the chat wasn't necessarily wrong in what they said. My eBay is still here, but it's been integrated to the Hub with some features gone or moved around.

Re: Why aren't sellers preparing for these changes ahead of time?

Ok but some of us have been seller FOR ONLY A YEAR, not 3 to 5 years like you've been saying so some of us legitimately did not know until we got the email. Like me, so don't put everybody in a box and assume everyone's been selling for 5 to 10 years. And it doesn't make it a better system than we had with paypal. It's all **bleep**  it's all been made to make things 100% more difficult for Sellers and I honestly have been thinking about pulling all my listings because what I'm encountering is buyers do not read, when you have a listing that is local pickup only and they buy it and  figure out "oh it's local pick up only"and they ask you to ship and you tell them no, and now you have to cancel your listing, lose all your watchers and wait to refund the buyer before you can relist it. All because the lazy buyers didn't want to read. After this happened to me today, I pulled and ended all my local pickup listings. Because since they took PayPal away for sellers, I'm not going to have all my listings tied up and refunds pending because people don't read. With PayPal before, cancellations were very easy and refunds were processed quickly. Not with this horrible managed payments. Ebay will cave and go back to PayPal for selling. Mark my words.

Re: Why aren't sellers preparing for these changes ahead of time?

eBay have a contract with Adyen now, so no, they will not go back to paypal for sellers.

They are now starting to roll out MP in China - another contract with Payoneer - so again, no they will not got back to Paypal

As you said you have been selling for only a year, 'mark my words' - eBay will not rescind a decision made and contracted with 2 payment processors, sad as it may make many.

Re: Why aren't sellers preparing for these changes ahead of time?

Yeah, but not all change is good, or even necessary. I'm thinking atomic bombs, communism, income taxes,

to name just a few. Also consider that the more complicated a " thing " is, the more prone it is to problems or even failure. So maybe that is why most people are resistant to change and someone coined the phrase " if it ain't broke, don't fix it ".

Hey, nuttin

1. It's not the buyers who are complaining

2. I've been using credit/debit cards on Paypal forever.

Perceived loss of control?? Do you have school age kids? Do you like movies or sports or running or any of a hundred other things like eating out? And I suppose you want a gold star for being so diligent with your taxes.

In my rather long life I have observed that 98% of people only complain when you give them a REASON to and it has very little to do with how they were raised.

...Oh Yay!

I so hope that they are also forced to use the all new selling page or seller's hub or something very similar to it...YESSSSSS!

I had instantly adapted to both the hub & the new page but that does not mean that I prefer it or that I would not want to go back to the classic page.

If something better comes along to replace my cable internet service, I’m sure I’ll adapt. But I don’t see anything on the horizon.

That's the thing, what if something comes along which isn't better and you have to adapt anyway?

Isn't that true of alot of things in life?  Microsoft abandoned XP or whatever it was........Netscape browser is no more......the groc store no longer carries my favorite brand of X............we adapt everyday (or so it seems) to stuff.....why should ebay be different.? They have their reasons for doing what they do......their big failure to me is that they don't explain WHY..........though when they do, many still won't accept it as a reason acceptable to them........

Then I’ll adapt anyway. My internet TV service decided to shut down last year, and gave us 3 months notice. That was plenty of time to find a replacement, which is a bit more expensive. It was a tantrum-free transition.

So will I, that's not my point.  You mentioned you would adapt if something better came along and I merely am saying, for me, this is not something better.   Of course I will adapt, I have no intention of quitting ebay.
