When do you leave feedback for the buyer????

Ebay has its ups and downs when selling. I find 99% of my business is easy and a good experience.

But dam that 1% that is just a pain in my ebay.

So what I have been doing is leaving feedback when I ship.  Kind of a thank you to the buyer for quick pay with quick shipping and good feedback. This has worked for me for years except when there is an issue, then I regret it.

So as a seller do you hold off giving feedback, or give it right away?

Going forward I think I may be leaving feedback after 10 +- days after the item has been received.

Let me now what you think.

When do you leave feedback for the buyer????

HI @thebestgoldleaf

I leave FB for Buyers the day the item ships, mainly thanking them for their business.

In 9 years of Selling my customers have left FB for me 50-60% of the time.  Very consistent.

-I don't ask for it or mention in my listings like some sellers do (THAT is tacky as all get out, we're NOT selling Feedback here).

-I don't put little notes in my packages about it (I've gotten some of those over the years, very tacky)

-I don't message customers asking for it, I let it happen or not naturally

I don't leave feedback until the buyer has had the item a couple days.

Have a great day.

When do you leave feedback for the buyer????

I have Ebay automatically give FB to the buyer.

Feedback to the buyer is meaningless but some buyers are feedback needy and will waste your time with a message if you delay.

Mine is set to automatically give it upon payment.  Buyer feedback is rather meaningless, but some still like receiving something and I do appreciate payments.

I leave FB when I ship, no sense in waiting because you can get in trouble for leaving a positive negative FB. If I have a problem with a buyer they get blocked and if I get a negative, I'll leave an constructive business response.

I don't sell high dollar items so there's nothing I can't lose and is a write off for taxes anyway. Until ebay backs the sellers, high dollar items get sold local.

I give feedback when I ship the item, thanking the buyer and letting them know. I don't base 100% of my business practices on the 1% negative experience or on what might happen.

When do you leave feedback for the buyer????

@thebestgoldleaf

For most of my 20+ years on Ebay, I've left it after the buyer has left it for me.  But I've changed my method recently.  I now leave it when I ship.  Honestly I don't think it matters anymore one way or the other about the feedback.  It doesn't mean as much these days, since buyers can only get positives. Very few of my buyers are leaving feedback at all.

I personally think 10 days is too long to wait after the buyer receives their item.

I wouldn't wait for the sky to fall.  If they receive the order, I would just go ahead & leave it.

I agree with @mr_lincoln 100%.   NEVER ask for feedback.   I have never asked & never will.  To this day, sellers still ask for feedback.  I find it annoying.  One seller asked me to leave it because 'business was bad."

I wouldn't overthink the feedback thing, I would do what feels the best to you.

yep, buyer feedback is a pointless exercise but some buyers like it, no downside to just leaving it auto when they pay

I leave automated feedback as soon as the buyer pays. Buyer feedback means nothing until you get negative feedback from a buyer for not leaving feedback.

When do you leave feedback for the buyer????

I leave as you.........as soon as the item is "accepted" by the PO.........

It's done/over...........if there is a problem, buyer is going to let  me know one way or the other........but, they won't be in a hacked off mood because I haven't left them feedback.  Some, especially buyers who have been on ebay for a long time, are very sensitive to "their" feedback.....I've seen plenty of negs simply because sellers haven't left feedback for them.

I leave feedback when the buyer pays. Telling them they are a wonderful buyer with fast payment. Even though I have BIN's with immediate payment.

Yes I know it's all pointless.

When do you leave feedback for the buyer????

I only have one definitive policy about leaving feedback and that is to not leave it until AFTER the order has been shipped. How long after is not defined, in theory I would leave feedback once a week but sometimes I just don't get around to it so in some cases buyers might have to wait more than one week.

It's pretty rare that one of my buyers asks for feedback, if they do I will give them their feedback asap (this usually prompts me to leave feedback for all outstanding orders).

I basically have three types of feedback comments, one for new to me buyers, one for multiple item buyers and one for repeat buyers.

Waiting 10+ days is the worst possible choice you can make.

Leaving that late feedback reminds the buyer of the transaction. Reminding the buyer of the transaction can lead to a claim, return or bad feedback in a situation where the buyer would have otherwise completely forgotten about it.

That isn't just an idea either. I used to leave feedback in huge batches long after delivery. Everytime I did it within a few hours someone I just left feedback for would come up with a problem.
