When did Ebay stop allowing sellers to send invoices?

Had a sale this week, and for the first time Ebay will not allow me to send the buyer an invoice. Invoices are only allowed if there are changes to the shipping charges now. Why? This does not make any since.

20 years ago sending invoices was pretty much required they haven't been needed with the single exception of an adjustment for more than 10 years.

Yeah, I don't think I've sent an invoice that wasn't related to a shipping cost adjustment since, oh... 2003.

Based on experience I don't trust ebay to calculate the combined shipping correctly, so I no longer use the rules. I'd rather just send an invoice.

International?

Are you one of these "shipping not specified - contact seller for details" people?

There is no difference in the need to send an invoice domestic or international without an adjustment.

Since Ebay sends an invoice, maybe they dont want the buyer annoyed with another one.

eBay @bonjourami never sends an invoice to a buyer. And only for a shipping discount, a seller would send an invoice.

I can't make the eBay flat rate shipping tables work for me either so I also send invoices for combined orders with discount. eBay is not removing that option.

Re: When did Ebay stop allowing sellers to send invoices?

If you actually looked at what I sell you would know...I list all shipping prices. I don't use a second eBay account for talking on here... do you?

International for multiple items will need an adjustment for eBay does not combine items for a shipping total.

I usually have to refund the buyer. Sounds like you stopped selling years ago...Just an opinion.

And you're still allowed to send an invoice for that. Nothing has changed on that front.

Re: When did Ebay stop allowing sellers to send invoices?

ebay useless "improvements" and an effort to manage our business. Some comments say that people may get irritated by receiving repeated invoices. However, ebay states that they will send the buyers reminders to pay. So ebay reminders will not irritate the buyer?

There is even a worse improvement. ebay automatically charges the buyer after the seller accepts an offer. I gaet tons of offers and buyers send me message upset about the practice. They have to pay the postage for each accepted offer.   I have been doing nothing but issuing shipping refunds recently. Don't quite understand what was wrong with the old system. I wouldn't mind immediate payment but not with postage for every item.

"As a collector/buyer only, I don't know why EBay continues to complicate everything in the name of progress.

That's why a seller wrote after I tried, in vain, to answer his question, why he had to pay postage three times after I accepted his offers.

Re: When did Ebay stop allowing sellers to send invoices?

International...No...will need to refund buyer for combined shipping...which I do every day...too hard for eBay to correct it...maybe in years ahead.

And I get buyers who are upset they cannot add all items to shopping cart.

And we have those on iPhones I think are the ones who cannot add to shopping cart...for payment....but, hey, I prefer not to argue with anyone.

Your "sounds" are incorrect, since 1999 with up to two months off in the summer and about 40% of my sales are international, used to be over 60%.

Hopefully for the last time; if you need to adjust then sending an invoice is ALLOWED, eBay knows this, you will probably always have the ability to send revised invoices.

@martin2001

Have you removed the buyer requirement for pre entry of payment options?

All you need to do is disable this option in your buyer requirements.

Thanks for pointing this out, I had heard this was added, but didn't realize I was opted in on these requirements. I've fixed it so anyone can bid and make offers. I don't tend to have big problems with non-payers, happens sometimes when I run auctions, but not all that frequently.
