Wants to cancel order after it has been shipped.

Newbie....maybe......wants to cancel order because she claims she already owns the item. It has already been shipped. I said she could return the item but I would not refund the shipping charges to return, only the original shipping charges. She is threatening to report me, post bad feedback & on & on. Am I doing this wrong & what recourse do I have if she actually does everything she has threatened.

Re: Wants to cancel order after it has been shipped.

I'm not refunding until she returns the item. I am not spending extra money to recall a package. This was her mistake, not mine. And she did not cancel in the am. She wanted to cancel in the aft. I ship next day. A lot of sellers ship next day. It is usually preferred by 99% of buyers. So like in a business, she has the option to return the item. I am looking at it through the eyes of the buyer. I buy a heck of a lot more than I sell. She has options. She can use them like most decent people would without threatening messages. And $25 is a lot of money to some people, including a seller. Thanks for all the help. Some people on here were very helpful.

She is now threatening a chargeback. Is this even possible? I have been buying on this site for 25 years & have never been threatening or demanding. Whay are some people so freakin unpleasant.

As for being a newbie & starting with me.....I will do everything within reason to make a buyer happy but there is a limit, new or not. Once an item has been shipped I should not be asked to refund because "she already has one." Ridiculous.

I want to share this with you.  If this buyer files a Chargeback for this transaction, I urge you to come back here and let us help you through the process.  In the meantime, just stick to your process, Please return for refund.

Also, make sure you collect all the info you have on this buyer and what has transpired.  Make an electronic file and collect all the emails [yours and theirs] in there along with the tracking any anything else you may  have on this transaction.

We will do our best to help you through the process if the buyer goes that route.  Just from what you have shared, it appears to me that the buyer is in search of you offering a partial refund.  They are trying to bully you.  Please don't fall for it.  Stand strong.

When this is all over, you really need to report this buyer to Ebay.  But we can go over that when the time comes.  No need to overwhelm you now.

Cancel request was not through ebay. She bought yesterday early aft & I shipped early this morning. She asked to cancel within the last 2 hours. Why? Does that matter even after the item has been shipped?? Am I really going to be "penalized" for fast shipping?

I call her a "newbie" because she has a 0 feedback rating but we all know how this is questionable. Just saying.

You are doing great.  There is something you should check, even though they have zero feedback.  Go to their Feedback page and click on the tab that says Left For Others.  See if she has left any feedback for other sellers.  Often this is very interesting and says a lot about the buyer.

No, you won't be 'penalized' but you should just look at it through the eyes of the buyer.

Bought yesterday (Sunday- most sellers are NOT available/at work) and asked first thing Monday morning- so I would either do a recall or refund all and NOT have sent them a message that basically tells this buyer negative things (I'm NOT refunding the return postage).

All this over a $25 item just isn't worth it. If it sold once, it will sell again.

Interesting observation.  But time zones are important too.  What is first thing in the morning for one person is not the same thing for another.

IMHO the buyer is trying to bully the OP into submission.

Re: Wants to cancel order after it has been shipped.

Before anyone accuses me of being upset because I am not getting the responses I want....give me a break. I wanted good, fair advice. Thanks to the people who gave that to me. To those who think I shipped too quickly (what nonsense), did not give the buyer a long enough time to cancel before shipping (more nonsense), who thinks I am making a big deal out of $25 & who suggests I should spend money to recall the package.....not happening  & wow, just wow.

I have learned to never mention not paying return shipping. Good advice & thanks. This will play out some way, somehow & I will deal with it when it does.

You offer returns.

A buyer can return for any reason.

Remorse............ they pay return ship.

NAD............... you pay return.

Initially responding you should have stopped short of telling them they had to pay return. (that is already there in listing)

That depends on the type of Return policy the seller has.

With that said, the OP does have a Return policy that requires the buyer to pay for return shipping IF and only IF they file a proper Buyer Remorse Return Request.  And if the buyer does that, when the seller refunds the buyer after the item is returned, if the seller had separately stated shipping, they can withhold the original shipping from the refund as well, but they can't do that if it was Free Shipping.

My reply was to this seller based 100% upon their return policy.

Re: Wants to cancel order after it has been shipped.

I hope the item was not of great value.

The rules last time I checked stated that anyone threatening a seller with bad feedback, could have their feedback expunged at the seller's request.  It has been a few years, but I used that once to remove feedback.

I found that quite obvious. Just thought I'd let you know.

Re: Wants to cancel order after it has been shipped.

Sorry to hear about the grief your going thru. Should have handled it this way and they wouldn't be a upset customer and you would have no stress either- If you sent it USPS- Tell them not to open box and mark on the box return to sender. Then there will be no 2nd shipping charge. When you receive it back then you refund it. Yes, it is a cost of doing business but at least your not paying for a negative feedback.

I am not sure how your post could be taken out of context or misunderstood.

Re: Wants to cancel order after it has been shipped.

To me sounds like Ebay showed her another sellers item that was cheaper and that was the reason she was trying to cancel your sale. Some people are really cheap and if they can save $1 it's worth it to them.

Re: Wants to cancel order after it has been shipped.

In addition to the suggestions already offered by others you could advise the buyer to simply refuse the delivery. USPS will return the item at no additional cost and once you have the item back you can fully refund the buyer since you are offering to cover the initial shipping cost anyway.

Eliminates the need for anyone to pay for a return label.
