I know how to use the variations listing tool, but I don't understand why each variation can't have its own unique (shipping) weight. Am I missing a way to specify the weight for each one?
Also, don't know if this is eBay or ShipStation error, but the order is not being exported/imported into the shipping program with the correct image for the specific variation chosen.

No, no way to specify each or to use calculated shipping on each/all........ I've always thought it was because ebay shipping can't be set up to come up with the proper total.....

EBAY not setup to allow different "weight & measurements" for variations.

Not sure what you're listing under variations that would cause the items to be a different weight but, my understanding is variations is for similar items of different size(s) & color(s) like shirts or pants.

Yes, most commonly different sizes can greatly affect the weight and dimensions of the item. Some sellers either end up charging more for the item price to cover for the postage differences. This is a pain because you have to constantly monitor and change them as postage prices change, ugh.
The other thing sellers do is split the item into two listings. i.e one for standard sizes, one for plus sizes. The downside to this is you also split the performance and exposure of said item.

It is for an item we are offering in various quantities. But @iamalwaysright is right. (Imagine that!) Obviously, an XS pair of jeans might be eligible to ship first class, but an XL pair could exceed 1 lb and have to ship using a different service.

I also have the same problem. Each of my variation has different weight and size. So I cannot choose customer pay calculated shipping cost. I have to list all items of my variation with Free Shipping. If there is a solution, please let me know.

Because that's not how ebay has set it up.
