Well, I may have to give up selling on Ebay. I just spent 30 minutes typing in a description on my listing. This all started when the AI option came about. I hate those stupid AI descriptions, so I don't use them. So, typing in the description of the item myself is slow as molasses! It takes forever for 2-3 letters to come up on the screen. And, why Is that? Is it to deter us from not using AI? Anyone else experiencing this?

As others have mentioned it does sound like your computer is running slow or something.
Something you could possibly try doing if this only happens when you are using eBay is you could type the description into a different program like Microsoft Word or Notepad and then copy and paste from there into the eBay listing.
Hope this helps!

That sure sounds like a computer issue and not a ebay issue.
I'm not experiencing it.

No. The AI option has been around for ages now. More to the point, when you type a letter, it doesn't go all the way to California and back before it appears on your screen. Text entry is done locally on your phone or desktop first, and then periodically the whole draft is backed up on-line, but that's just copying what you have done so far; it's not delaying your current typing.
So something on your device is corked up. If you're on a phone, check what other apps you have running in the background and clean out whatever is not needed. On a desktop or laptop, reboot if necessary and again get rid of whatever's running in the background to slow things up.

I listed a dozen items this morning and I saw absolutely no delay or lag in typing a description.
I was on a laptop using eBay on the Chrome browser.
I suspect your issue has nothing to do with AI or eBay trying to secretly manipulate you.

What happens when you type your description in a desk top document, then cut and paste it into the eBay form?
I suspect the problem is your computer.

Nope not having that problem, no lag time or delay, I use my laptop, It sounds like it could be a browser issue.

Sounds like your computer is low on memory. Try closing some applications perhaps.

@jodieblue57 : AI is quicker because it is being generated at the Ebay end and not on your laptop - which seems to be having continued problems as you have been reporting about this same issue over the past few months.
It might help if you could tell us exactly what laptop operating system and browser you are using. I saw people asking you that in past threads but did not see an answer.
If you borrow someone else's laptop or desktop to compare I think you are going to see that the slow editing problem is not on their machine. Yours has some kind of an issue with response time when editing.
If you have multiple windows going then it could be that one or more others are waiting for some kind of a response from the keyboard. That could mean that 2 applications are competing for the same keystrokes.

@a_c_green has the most detailed explanation of what is probably happening. I suggest getting a new laptop or phone, whatever you use to make your listings. If you hurry and buy it in 2024 you can use it as a tax deduction against your 2024 eBay earnings.

try doing a hard reset on your browser to clear the cache.
Google how to do this since I do not know what browser your using.

It's an ebay problem. I've had this problem for several months and others have posted the same. There are some threads on it and I got tired of giving the same updates of "no change."
The severe lag in typing is only on the ebay listing page, no where else on ebay or the web. No problem on this message board.
However, some users have not experienced the problem at all, hence the it's your computer answers. They just have not experienced it.
I tried deleting cache, turning off and on computer, different browsers (Firefox, Chrome, Edge), different computers having different operating systems, even went to the public library and logged on there, used desktop and phone app (on wifi and then cellular on the phone), changed browser settings, tried incognito browsing, nothing helped.
It's an ebay problem.

I totally agree that it is an EBay problem. I have tried different browsers and deleting cache, as well. Doesn't change the situation at all.
As I said, probably just going to quit listing. Tired of fooling with it.

I agree with @a_c_green I think you have programs running in the background and not enough memory. Clearing the cache and changing browsers will not fix that. Try looking at your task manager when you things are slow.
