The new Picture Requirement on returns ... doesn't eBay know .......................

........................ that some people have no clue how to take a picture and upload it to their computer or have no camera or smart phone to do it with ... or simply lack the knowledge on how to do it or figure it out??????

I have a customer trying to process a return and they can't get past the picture requirement ... so they asked for my address so they can simply send the item back through the mail ... errnt, not going to happen.

While I understand the reason for the picture I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that there is a good % of Buyers who simply cannot do that ... is there no work around????????????????

That happened to me awhile back. I had to post a pic of a music box “not working.” LOL

It’s new-ish, and part of the flow. It crops up on the buyer’s side. It was probably in beta awhile ago, not everyone seemed to have buyers uploading pics. No clue if it’s everyone now or spotty. No announcement that I’m aware of.

I thought the 'picture' was only for those opening a 'not as described'??

If you advised the buyer to used "changed their mind" as the reason for wanting to return, doesn't that reason require that the buyer pay return shipping?

Um, why not? You have a return address on the package, right? Just tell them to send it back there, then kick out a refund when it arrives.

I have read this entire thread, and I understand you've already gone back and forth over this attempt at sending a photo, with the total price in question being all of $20, and no one has suggested any red flags at work here, nor are you suspecting a scam here (again, from what I read), so I would give them the benefit of the doubt and tell them to ship it back, either with or without the eBay-supplied return label (if one cannot be generated). Life's too short, and all that...

That's it.  Computer/cell phone..................

You should see me when I pick up my wife's cell phone.

This is nice, but what do I do with it?

I have one of her old ones that I was trying to do things on. I was trying to turn it off, and took a picture of myself 🙂

Thing here is.................  from reading some past threads it does not seem that it makes any difference what photo is uploaded.  Still boils down to the eBay he said/she said process.

If they can't adapt to the late 1990s then who cares if they can't figure it out?

I would prefer they never do.

For crying out loud get off the internet.

I had a cell phone in the late 1990s and don't recall being able to take photos (though it had an early primitive browser on it which was nifty).  My solution to this is not to worry about not having a photo - I've stumbled along lo this many years without the requirement and think I can probably continue.

ETA:  They could attach a photo of their pet or something to fulfill the requirement - I'd like that.

Hell is empty. And all the devils are here.

@soh.maryl   I have 30 Day Free Returns on all my listings, Returns are set to be automatically Accepted by me ... so to me the picture requirement is moot and just an annoyance for those kind of return settings.   Sellers set up their listings to either pay the return shipping or have the Buyer pay ... in the latter scenario the Buyer would pay the return shipping if they use the Changed their mind setting.  They would NOT pay the return shipping on an NAD or Arrived Damaged (if memory serves).

UPDATE:

Was gone for 10 hours today .... returned this evening and the Buyer successfully attached two pictures of their train collection to the return claim and it is now being processed.  The pics are great by the way LOL!

If they are navigating shopping on line, clicking and up loading a payment method, mailing address etc. they should (key word should) be able to navigate taking and uploading a photo.

I agree, honestly. My mother is 82 and she knows how to take a picture with her phone and then attach it to a text or an email. She shops online 99% of the time these days and is quite savvy when it comes to ordering things online.

That's the thing...A PICTURE, not THE PICTURE.

If they can't navigate that, how on earth did they find out about ebay, and set up a payment and figure out how to search for items?

That stuff is 100 times harder than a right click.

Is the requirement only for not as described? If buyer opens return for other reason then picture is not required?
