The new Picture Requirement on returns ... doesn't eBay know .......................

........................ that some people have no clue how to take a picture and upload it to their computer or have no camera or smart phone to do it with ... or simply lack the knowledge on how to do it or figure it out??????

I have a customer trying to process a return and they can't get past the picture requirement ... so they asked for my address so they can simply send the item back through the mail ... errnt, not going to happen.

While I understand the reason for the picture I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that there is a good % of Buyers who simply cannot do that ... is there no work around????????????????

Am betting they would need to have e-Bay call them.

Hint:  ANY picture works.  Can they just upload anything into the box??

I'd tell the buyer to call ebay.........and tell them they don't know how......and what to do.........

It's something sellers have wanted for years..........and I think will help overall with return problems........ but there are those few it will hurt.........  There are still sellers who have no printer.....

My 89-year-old mom couldn't do it, nor should she have to. No worries that's why people just get it taken care of direct with credit card company. 100% agree that there needs to be a work around.

Re: The new Picture Requirement on returns ... doesn't eBay know .......................

Would a technodolt be able to help?

I take the picture on my phone camera.

Then I send it to myself by email.

Then I open the picture from the email and put it on my desktop.

Then I drag and drop the desktop picture to eBay.

Which is why I try to sell only flat things I can scan.

My thoughts are as @katzrul15's. Do you think they could right-click/save one of your listing photos and add it?

@katzrul15   That's EXACTLY what I told them ... I said ANY picture on their computer will work for my purposes LOL ... we're talking something for less then $ 20 here ... I can tell the Buyer was FRUSTRATED.

@dhbookds   There is no longer "call eBay" ... its request a call back AND it is not a simple process, I know, I've done it but know how to get to the page ...

The issue here I think is more the age group my Buyer is from ... sure they have a computer but knowing how to use it is a different issue altogether ...

@reallynicestamps   Already way too many steps for a certain age group ... I know because I know people who have absolutely no idea how to take a picture with their smart phone ... they are older than me and I will leave it at that.

Although eBay wants a Picture, any Picture (regardless of what is it a Picture of) will work.

"
See if your buyer can copy and past any Picture from the original listing into the return so
at least it will be of the item.

This is another reason why ebay should have an option where the seller can initiate the return process. Some other marketplaces have that option.

Re: The new Picture Requirement on returns ... doesn't eBay know .......................

Sort of a catch 22.

Slows down the amount of returns.

Might tend to help keep honest buyers honest when they see they have to add a photo.

eBay does not lose as many FVF's.

Perhaps eBay loses a few buyers over this.

Not fair to the non techie buyers.

My 97 year old neighbor just brought a return package over for me to drop at the UPS joint I use. Labeled and ready to go. He still drives, just saving himself a trip.

He just upgraded his iPhone this year. He could handle uploading a photo.  Sends me a photo every time he kills a copperhead.

Can't even imagine living until 97 or beyond.

@dhbookds   My bad  ... I just cringe when I know someone has to call Home Office ... its not easy and how many threads on The Community are titled like, "What is eBay's phone number?", "How do I talk to a Human", "Why does eBay make it so hard to talk to someone?", "Etc".

@lakefor94

Yes, some elderly are in tune with technology but your neighbor is the exception that's for sure ... I suspect my customer is not that old but certainly retired but not a heavy Buyer on the site ... so simple tasks to some are mountains to climb for others ...
