I had a Buyer win an auction, pay and receive the item the week before the 4th of July Holiday weekend ... the same Buyer won another auction on July 3 and as of this writing, July 7, the item remains unpaid ...
So now that it is day 4 after the Auction ended a UPI is possible but I am thinking maybe they are away or otherwise tied up this week ...
I sent a courtesy message Monday evening the 5th to all unpaid item customers letting them know we have a regular AM shipping run from our weekend sales for completed purchases.
I'm thinking of waiting until early next week before making any decisions on a UPI ...

Unpaid is now automated; no need to report or send; ebay will file an unpaid after 4 days for you (whether you want to or not); then you can relist item. See 'announcements' for more info

You should check the new settings to make sure it does not cancel automatically if you want to give him more time. Here is the NEW settings page for items awaiting payment:

If what @stainlessenginecovers said (and others have said) is true then the UPI should have occurred already, we are now a half hour past the closing of the Auction ... yet it is still sitting in the Awaiting payment file in Seller Hub. Prior to this new change I had my UPIs set for Manual, not automatic ... so does the setting above mean I still have control on when or if I Cancel the sale? I think it does because again, nothing has happened on the item Awaiting payment ...

It looks like you have the automatic setting turned off. That is good. I did that too so I can handle them manually on a case by case basis.

Yes, better to leave it on manual then you have control. Also a good idea to give the buyer some room, probably away...tis that time of year.

A seller can cancel an unpaid transaction after four days (four 24-hour periods); i.e., on day five. An auction won on July 3 can't be cancelled for nonpayment until July 8.

@itscalledapostingid Yes, I never used the automatic setting before this change so it apparently carried over and remains off.

@eleanor*rigby Thank you for the reply and in practical terms that is correct, I suspect like the older system they were specific to the minute, meaning one minute past that 4 day window then it can be cancelled. In my case I never turned the automatic setting on so it is still set to manual for my account ...

@stainlessenginecovers This is true unless that UPI feature is not turned on ... which in my case it is off so until I manually force a UPI claim the item will simply remain Unpaid.

Basically what eBay did was add a 4th reason for a seller to cancel a transaction.
I'm canceling the transaction because the buyer hasn't paid. This 4th option is
(hidden from the seller) until it is appropriate to do so. When eBay uses the term
you now can simply cancel the order on the 5th day they don't make it clear that
that's what you need to select so the buyer gets an UPI strike and the seller
doesn't get dinged for canceling an order.

Only if you have it set to do so. You can opt to do it manually if you prefer, many times a buyer asks to defer payment for various reasons.

@eunster1313 The wording on their setting to me is not that clear either ... which I have found to be eBay's M.O. ... for myself I was fine with the older UPI process to be honest. I think there has been some miss-understandings surrounding this new feature ...

Several posted on here that you re-set it to an additional 4 days if you send the Buyer an invoice as a payment reminder. Tested it a while back, it changed to show 8 days vs 4.
No idea if this was a glitch or intentional, but confusing.
