Subscriber Discounts - NOT keeping pace with inflation!!! Not happy here!

devon@ebay , elizabeth@ebay kyle@ebay

The eBay Branded Supply folks finally got the box size in I prefer ... so when I went to buy my normal 2 cases of 25 boxes my Subscriber Discount came whoafully short of giving me any purchasing advantage.  1 case would mean left over unusable coupon value and 2 boxes would push my Price per box over $ 2.00 ...

I used to be able to get the same thing for 22 cents per box and then it climbed to 47 cents per box ... at $ 2 per box it is worthless and not using the entire coupon is worthless too, I would just rather get $ 50 off one month's Store Subscription and then I will get my boxes elsewhere ...

When is eBay going to man up and raise the Subscriber discounts to offset inflation increases???  I was pretty disgusted when I went through the process this evening and simply closed the page.  Not helping Sellers is NOT contributing to "enhancing the Buying experience" (eBay credo) in my view.

So am I unhappy about this, yes, no sense trying to hide the truth.

And no, I am not interested in buying stuff I don't want, would never use, just to fill out the coupon value if I only buy one case of boxes instead of 2 ...

The $ 50 per quarter Premium Store coupon needs to be raised to somewhere between $ 75 and $ 100 AND be done before the end of 1st quarter this year.  That would NOT break eBay's pocketbook and would be a nice show of support for Sellers ... i am surprised this hasn't already been done to be honest.

I agree with you 100% and the responses!!! I do use the coupons for the boxes/envelopes once a quarter but thankfully most of my items are smaller that I ship from here. Sometimes it's worth it if it is only over like $5 to get 100. Honestly, I cover their name with the shipping labels. I'm not in this to advertise for ebay. Staples are way cheaper so they are my go to for my off quarter supply needs. Who would have thought that a large chain like Staples was cheaper than someone that is supposed to be helping me grow my business?

You may want to look into Fetpak and Papermart. They give discounts on volume purchases.

not arguing that it may be better $wise to buy elsewhere.........but I'll never understand the "not here to advertise ebay"...............why isn't advertising ebay to YOUR benefit?

Hey @mr_lincoln thank you for your detailed feedback.  We'll be glad to pass this suggestion along to the appropriate teams for consideration.

kyle@ebay   My sincere thanks ... although my math was a little off in the OP the subject is still viable as far as eBay keeping up with inflation and offering Sellers more than the current eBay Branded supplies coupon value.

I agree. Advertising for eBay is also advertising for me, you and everyone selling on this site.

And then there's the issue of increased cost and lowered quality control.

I'm tired of getting batches of boxes which haven't been cut, folded or glued correctly.

@mr_lincoln

My biggest issue is QUALITY along with the increased pricing. It has dropped significantly.

The box weights themselves are less and the quality is terrible compared to a couple of years ago. The weight is lighter. The number of ridges between the outer shell is far less so not as strong, despite the fancy stamp on the bottom. And don't even get me started on them not being square anymore, not glued or arriving in terrible shape, even though the outer box is in pristine condition.

Padded mailers are not as thick, the sticky is not sticky and you sneeze at them in the wrong direction they rip.

I can sort of live with increased prices, everything is more expensive, the drop in quality, not so much.

When you are paying a much higher price for something of far lesser quality, I have an issue.

Totally agree. You are not the only one that has noticed that. Reminds me of the places that used to sell clothing rejects. (one sleeve longer than the other, a pant leg wider than the other, etc). I think of it every time I pull out of these misfit boxes. I think they are buying them as the misfits to widen their profit margin.

The other peeve I have with this particular supplier is that they pulled the original 6x4x4 boxes from sale (which were ideal for under 4 oz FCP) and replaced them with heavier 6x4.75x4.75. Yet they still offer the originals on their other ID where of course you can't use the coupons.

Re: Subscriber Discounts - NOT keeping pace with inflation!!! Not happy here!

Cardboard and other materials they use in the packaging went up, not to mention the shipping fees.  I still consider the mailers a good deal with a $50 off coupon.

I was buying cardboard bins for my inventory and the price almost doubled on what they were  a few months before.

Inflation touches everything everywhere.

LOL  @chapeau-noir   its one of those words I've always had trouble spelling!!!  I was so ticked off I just let it fly for the OP ...

I usually don't poke at anyone for grammar/spelling, but this one kind of cracked me up, because I had a vision of someone sadly slowing their horse...whoafully slower...which is kind of what is happening with the supplies discounts.

Agreed.

Also, IMO that "clown tape" is an anti-theft device.  Imagine a porch pirate approaching a porch with boxes from amazon, ebay, wal-mart, and target. If he/she can only carry so many boxes, which would be left behind? Sure ebay boxes could contain high-value items, but if I were stealing, I'd go for the boxes more likely to contain new merchandise.

@chapeau-noir   I have an excuse of course ... our property boarders on an Amish farm, I see horses every day or hear them clip clop by the house pulling a bugging or see the evidence of their passing ... yep, have to dodge that stuff on the road on a regular basis ...

@luckythewinner

I know, but there should be a limit on how much they can charge sellers, the more sellers prosper, the more eBay prospers. You can't choke sellers with unlimited fees and expect revenues to increase year after year, sellers will start to move on to other places. eBay needs to balance things and not go after seller's money like there will be no sellers tomorrow. There are more sites taking a bite out of eBay, you wonder what gives them an advantage over eBay.
