I currently have 30 INR cases opened with shipments dating back to Dec 8. Do you think I should I start filing lost claims with the USPS or wait a little longer?

I don't think you can file an insurance claim for 30 days.....if that's what you are talking about. If you are talking about missing packages inquiry........that might help.......if there is no movement showing.

The mail is overloaded. Every seller is having the same issue. You just need to explain to your customers that you are doing everything in your power to help them. I have been checking my tracking numbers several times a day and I have been letting customers know this. It seems to help.
Also, you can thank Covid for this mess.

I'd start filing claims now on the ones that meet the timeline criteria.
You could also opt to file a missing-package trace rather than a full-blown claim. Sometimes that will get a package moving again.
Missing Mail and Lost Packages
Here's a good USPS page on filing claims. Apologies if you've already visited the page . . .

KEEP in contact with these buyers and let therm know that everyone who has packages coming from USPS are waiting a long time for their stuff to get there. Call Ebay and get the 10 day extension on the INR cases right away so you have more time to figure out what you are going to do. You may need to start package intercept to get your items back especially if they are expensive items. After the 10 day extension you will have to refund the buyer and your items may get delivered after that and they will get it ALL for free. Get on this right away.

Apologies........you are absolutely correct.............don't know where I got the 30 days....
I wouldn't file unless it's stopped moving for the 15 days.......I'm guessing they will hold the claim for some unknown amount of time just because of the slow delivery times......

I have been filing claims on all of my packages once they hit the 15 day mark.
For Priority, I am filing insurance claims as well.

- The Packages Will Arrive...Eventually....I would Not File USPS Claims or Send Refunds..
- I would Write to All my Buyers to let them Know that the USPS is having Serious Shipping/Delivery Issues due to Overload and Covid..and Items will Take 2-3 Weeks to Arrive ...and They Need to be Patient...I have Done that and No One has Filed an INR...All the Packages I Shipped in Early December Have Finally Arrived...3 Weeks Late...No Claims Filed and No Refunds Needed...

30? Dear god! I don't ship much using USPS but if it were me in this instance, Id be filing all kinds of stuff now. It is absolutely inexcusable. The really infuriating thing is knowing the potential damage caused to your business and reputation through no fault of your own. Add to it that eBay won't do much to help and I'd absolutely lose my mind. Good luck.

OP will not have to send "refunds".
If action is not taken on the INR disputes eBay will refund using the sellers money if the buyer asks eBay to "step in" at the 3 day point if no movement is shown on the tracking.
Messaging the buyer may help with some. Others do not feel it is their problem, and will press for the refund.

Hello, Sorry you are having such trouble with the usps. So am I, media mail is taking 3-4 weeks delivery time on the 2000 boxes that I mailed. None of the boxes are lost, they are all being delivered 21-25 days later. They are all stuck at a usps sorting facility for weeks at a time. It's been all over the real news: Stacks of undelivered boxes as high as the eye can see in usps sorting centers with 8 people working on 8 million boxes. It is going to take until the middle of january for all the boxes that we sent in december to be delivered. No one is willing to wait. No one is willing to accept the consequences of the covid-19 disaster. We are in the most mentally/spiritually unconscious time in the history of humanity.

I shipped an item November 21st and it arrived to my customer December 28th. It is still insane out there in the shipping world.

I have a package going to MD from NJ, its literally been two weeks. I shipped it the day it sold and the guy wants his money back. I put in a trace with USPS, but what else can I do?

Wait. Packages have been breaking loose and moving. I had something I bought 1st week in Dec delivered to me today which had been stalled in tracking since day 2. Several others I shipped 2nd week Dec. moved during the night last night including one in PA that was my oldest one.
We know that a true "lost" package is rare and that in all likelihood all will be delivered. Having filed claims will complicate things. Resist as long as possible. YMMV
