Send a watcher an offer???? Clarification?

@Anonymous

On this video......

https://www.facebook.com/eBayForBusiness/videos/222851305076068/

about 6 minutes in, Jennifer mentions sending offers to watchers......seemingly from Seller Hub or the listing itself.........  I've searched and can't find anything about it.....some of the comments indicate some people have found it, others haven't.....can you get any info about it?  Test? altho she seemed to say it was a tool everyone could use.  Didn't sound like she meant sending an offer from  the email from ebay that was going around for while.......

thanks

@dcintennessee Go to any listing. See where it says "add to Watch List" ? See the tiny down arrow right next to the words? Click that. Then you can add to Watch List, Wish List, Research List, Gift List and Add to a New List (custom list)

Hope that explains it?

Re: Send a watcher an offer???? Clarification?

One note of caution: One reason I'm asking Trinton about this is because I have a feeling that all these separate lists , while they still exist on site and there is some functionality, have in fact been "sunsetted" by ebay, which means I fear they could vanish pretty much at any time with little or no notice.

So it would be good to hear what ebay has to say about them.

Re: Send a watcher an offer???? Clarification?

@my-cottage-books-and-antiquesI checked several listings, and there is no down arrow selection on any. However, if I go to my Watch List page, the arrow is beside the Watch List heading, and I CAN create other lists. Cool! Thank you. After creating a couple of other lists, I checked listings again...still no options at the listing level other than to watch. Hmmmm....maybe I need to log out of my sessions & log on again. I'll try that.

When you looked for the down arrow on the listings, were you using a PC or a mobile device? I suspect the arrow is not there on mobile.

OK, wait, what browser are you sing? I'm seeing it in Chrome, but not Firefox, so it could be a browser issue. This could be one of those things that ebay meant to get rid of, but never fully cleaned up (lots of that stuff on the site) That's why I'm asking Trinton about it---in Chrome, at least, I have this ability, but if it is something ebay doesn't really want to support, it's risky to use it, only to see it vanish when ebay gets around to cleaning up the site.

Hopefully, trinton will respond on this.

Re: Send a watcher an offer???? Clarification?

Yes, in My eBay > Watching, you can create custom lists of watched items, but I'm pretty sure ebay will still treat them as simply Watched items, even if you put them in a list called "research"...so the custom lists would be good for your own in house use, but probably wouldn't impact the pilot program.

It would be nice if ebay added functionality to the watch list, so you could choose, item by item, which ones you'd like to receive offers and which you wouldn't.

Trinton,

Again, I like the idea and would use it. One objection I see being mentioned here is that some people would not want to recieve such unsolicited offers. Sounds like buyers can opt out, so hopefully that covers that objection.

But related to that:  When I go to a listing I have a number of choices beyond the basic watch list. For example, many sellers put items on a watch list for research purposes, with no intention of buying the item. But there is a Research list that can be used for that purpose. (There are also Wish Lists, Gift Lists etc. And you can create custom theme lists).

So, my question:  If I put items on a Research List (not the regular Watch list) would these be subject to seller offers or not? Technically, such items are not on my Watch List, they are on my Research List.

I can see where I might be interested in purchasing some items, and would welcome an offer from a seller, but other items are just for research purposes. It would be great if I could be sure that items on my actual Watch List could result in offers from sellers (unless I opt out) but items on my research list would be completely private and not subject to such offers.

Can you check into this please?

Thanks @my-cottage-books-and-antiques, that is exactly what I asked in post #19. I use lists the same way you do. If this applies only to watch lists then I'm cool with that because watch list items are usually items I'm interested in purchasing but not at the current price. My research list is where I put competitors items.

Re: Send a watcher an offer???? Clarification?

@my-cottage-books-and-antiques, thank you again. I was using Firefox, then checked that function in Chrome and Edge...unavailable with all three. More odd is that with all three browsers, I can create custom watch lists, but I can't move any listings to them. So, I suspect you and others probably have a programming crumb that never got cleaned up, as do I, but mine is useless. I hope y'all don't lose this capability!

@dcintennessee- try this:

1. Go to your watch list.

2. Check the box next to an item you want to move.

3. At the top the "add to list" button will now be blue. Click on it.

4. A pop-up will appear and give you a drop down menu so you can select the list you want.

I just tested it and it works, but it does still leave the item on your original watch list so you then have to delete from your watch list.

I cannot find a way to move an item from one list to another. @Anonymous- am I missing anything here? Is there a way to move an item from your watch list to another list? Also why can't the above poster add an item to an alternate list from the listing page?

Re: Send a watcher an offer???? Clarification?

@dcintennessee That's exactly what I'm afraid of....and why I'd like some clarification from trinton. If this is something that could vanish tomorrow, I don't want to be relying on it for my research...

Re: Send a watcher an offer???? Clarification?

Thanks @Anonymous! You're right - that worked exactly as you said. I put a couple items from my Watch list to my Research list, and also as you said - couldn't move them from that list to another.

But, unless we can "protect" the other lists from getting offers, this cool function will become pretty irrelevant.

When @Anonymous weighs in, I'd like to know whether the "make offer to watchers" applies only to listings created with the Quick List Tool...which I'd never even heard of until I saw that info posted under the video. With great difficulty, I finally found that "tool" and tried to use it for a few listings last night. It works ONLY if you're listing something pretty identical to someone's existing listing, and even then, it seemed to toss me back into the detailed/advanced listing tool I always use. It appears the QLT can be used to completion, only if you're keeping essentially all the terms of the original listing you poached with the QLT? Or am I tossed over to the advanced listing tool because I'm a Seller Hub user? So - it will be unavailable to those of us who embraced Seller Hub?

Also, if this is new capability applies only to listings that already have Best Offer enabled, that seriously limits its usefulness, since lots of sellers don't fool with BO listings. I would use it in this circumstance only: Currently I have a few listings that are expiring EOM, with watchers, no BO available. I'd be happy to extend an offer to those watchers and hope to move those items out of here. Absent that capability, I'm about to lower the price (not using markdown manager!), which SHOULD trigger eBay emails to the watchers (including any competitors watching...) that there's been a price decrease. Frankly, THAT capability appeals to me much more than this "send offer" one, because it retains IPR. If sending an offer under the new program doesn't force immediate payment when the offer is accepted - I'll never use it.

@my-cottage-books-and-antiques  How in the world do you create these custom watch lists?? On eBay? There's a similar function on Amazon, but with eBay listings my only option is "Add to watch list." I'd sure love to have more than one watch list, and be able to indicate which of my lists can receive such offers.

@Anonymous,  in the comment feed for that broadcast, it said this capability was available ONLY for listings created with the Quick Listing Tool. Is that correct?

Hi @dcintennessee, that is correct! At this time, it would only be available for those using the Quick Listing Tool. This may expand in the future so stay tuned slight_smile

Hi @my-cottage-books-and-antiques, I've passed along the feedback for specific lists to have offers turned on/off and can also confirm that at this time, there is no plan to eliminate the ability to create other lists. For more information on Watch lists, check out our Help Page.
