On this video......

about 6 minutes in, Jennifer mentions sending offers to watchers......seemingly from Seller Hub or the listing itself......... I've searched and can't find anything about it.....some of the comments indicate some people have found it, others haven't.....can you get any info about it? Test? altho she seemed to say it was a tool everyone could use. Didn't sound like she meant sending an offer from the email from ebay that was going around for while.......
thanks

@Anonymous wrote:@dhbookds, what's even funnier is that Jen from the video had the feature. Does that mean she doesn't use Seller Hub? Wouldn't eBay encourage its employees to use Seller Hub?
I just give up on stuff........what's happening, either it's there for some who don't want it, not there for people that do.........just rolling out........blah, blah......everything is a labyrinth..........

Maybe that wouldn't be so bad if Bowie was hanging around.

If I ever get one email from a seller based on a watch list I will never buy from that seller again. Words have meaning and watch means watch.
If eBay ever sends an email to a potential buyer of mine based on their watch list I will leave eBay ... again.
There's an old saying ... if you have to beg someone to be in your life, they don't belong there.

Hi everyone,
I have received an update on this topic and wanted to share it here:
We are currently running a pilot where seller can initiate Best Offers to buyers. This feature will allow sellers to send offers to the 10 most recent watchers on their items. To qualify for this feature, the listing must:
- Already have Best Offer
- Be a single quantity fixed price listing
- Have been listed on eBay for 10 days or more
- At least one one watcher
Only one offer is allowed per watcher (for up to 10 watchers) and the offers will expire after the standard 48-hour duration. The message a buyer receives will clearly indicate that others have also received the same offer and the first to accept will get it. Once one buyer has accepted, the others will be notified that the seller's offer is no longer available. Buyer's who do not wish to receive these kinds of offers can opt out by changing their communication preferences.
After the offer has been accepted, the seller will be notified and receive the buyer's username. From here the transaction will proceed as any other.
While at this time the feature is only available to those using My eBay > Selling, we may expand this to those with Seller Hub in the future. Below we have included a screenshot of what this feature looks like for those who meet the listed criteria:
We are excited to begin offering sellers the opportunity to send offers to their watchers and are committed to closely monitoring this feature for any adjustments that may be needed!

Are you referring to your buying preferences? eBay sending you an alert? Alerts that I as a buyer can choose?
How does that have anything to do with whether or not MY buyers get emails for offers on items on their watch lists from me?
Clear me up, seeing as I must be misunderstood.
I was simply saying that as a buyer watching an item, I get email from ebay about the item: drop in price, ending soon, etc.
You Said
f eBay ever sends an email to a potential buyer of mine based on their watch list I will leave eBay
So I presumed you did not know that ebay does send your buyers emails based on their watch list.
Could I have 2 of those lights?

Trinton, I like the idea, and I would use it if it were available to me.
But I'll ask this perennial question:
WHY does ebay refuse to announce pilot programs like this? Why do you guys insist on sowing unnecessary confusion and anxiety among sellers? Do we have any hope that some day, you will realize how maddeningly frustrating it is for sellers? Especially when it would be so easy to post an announcement?
This is NOT intended as a rhetorical question. I would really like an answer. I do realize that there are situations where tests must be kept secret so as to not impact the test results. But stuff like this? Look, you just gave us the information. Nothing secret about it. Everything you said could have and SHOULD have been in an announcement when this was first released.
So, come on, WHY do you guys handle this stuff, well, no offense, but...... so poorly?

I agree. This would cause lots of unwatching. Most watchers are not buyers anyway. And I agree also with the fact that there are already way too many unwanted ebay emails. As a buyer I do not want to be bothered, pressured or approached by sellers. If I want to buy I will, if not leave me alone. Just my opinion but I think there will be a lot of very angry potential buyers that will leave and go elsewhere to have some peace. As a seller I would never in a million years use this feature.

Seriously I feel like I now need a block seller list more than ever. Apparently eBay cannot drive off buyers fast enough. No, just no.

Trinton,
Again, I like the idea and would use it. One objection I see being mentioned here is that some people would not want to recieve such unsolicited offers. Sounds like buyers can opt out, so hopefully that covers that objection.
But related to that: When I go to a listing I have a number of choices beyond the basic watch list. For example, many sellers put items on a watch list for research purposes, with no intention of buying the item. But there is a Research list that can be used for that purpose. (There are also Wish Lists, Gift Lists etc. And you can create custom theme lists).
So, my question: If I put items on a Research List (not the regular Watch list) would these be subject to seller offers or not? Technically, such items are not on my Watch List, they are on my Research List.
I can see where I might be interested in purchasing some items, and would welcome an offer from a seller, but other items are just for research purposes. It would be great if I could be sure that items on my actual Watch List could result in offers from sellers (unless I opt out) but items on my research list would be completely private and not subject to such offers.
Can you check into this please?

Buyers can contact Sellers anytime they want, and they do, to discuss price and of course in most cases a lower price ... I think I will stay away from that one ...

@my-cottage-books-and-antiques How in the world do you create these custom watch lists?? On eBay? There's a similar function on Amazon, but with eBay listings my only option is "Add to watch list." I'd sure love to have more than one watch list, and be able to indicate which of my lists can receive such offers.
@Anonymous, in the comment feed for that broadcast, it said this capability was available ONLY for listings created with the Quick Listing Tool. Is that correct?
