I don’t know why I even bother selling and listening things on EBay! Vinted and Facebook are so much better. Every item I sold on EBay it’s lost 50% of sale to selling fees, listing fees , promoting fees, postage, vat, and who knows what else…
it takes forever for items to sell, than each week prices drops down, even than it’s impossible to sell, so u reduce it to minimum value just to sell and then on top of it I loose half to fees! It’s just not worth it! I had to pack items, I need to send items, wait to arrive to buyers… waiting nervously will they be happy or will they return it??? So much stress and hassle for 1/10 of value of my items. EBay is good for buyers but not for sellers! I would advise anyone who wants to sell do not use EBay!!!

First of all, you are in US and non of this applies here in UK!

Well maybe in US but not here in UK !
Item cost £30
Buyer protection £1.75
Postage £3.10
Vat £0.62
Transaction Fee £2
Add fee £3.30
Earnings should be £19.20
All I got paid is £15 ???
Now you tell me is it worth it?

I’m in UK , my feedback is 100% in last 20 years of selling and buying. Now I stopped selling as I am not happy with EBay fees and charges.
Item prices £30
Selling fee £2
Transaction fee £ 2
Add fee £3.5
Total earnings £ 21.70
All I got £15
Non of it is adding up ?
This is not once but 6 times
Luckily I am not business seller but just for personal use getting rid off unwanted stuff but it’s not worth.

Sorry don’t agree with you!

On Vinted I listed £30 and got £30
On Facebook Marketplace £30 on collection £30 received
Here is your simple example

Item price £30
Transaction Fees £2
Postage label £3.50
Seller fee £2
Add fee £4.50
Total earnings £18
All I got paid £15 ???

Well it looks like you sold 95 items on eBay in the last 25 years. My guess is you haven't kept up with the eBay changes in policies, procedures etc. Hard to play ball if you haven't kept up.

If you have issues that you would like to discuss with other members here, it might be better to start your own post. You should not have hijacked @zana007dean's post with your long-winded opines because those have nothing to do with the OP.

Ebay isn't for everyone........and if you don't understand why/how you are being paid........probably best to find a place where it's understandable to you.....
Understand though, you are posting on the board primarily for US sellers.....we don't know the terms of sales in the UK....... If you want those answers, might do better asking on the UK board.......

If you are in the UK, then why are you posting this on the USA message boards?
Here, we discuss Ebay in the US. So some of these fees you are talking about may not apply here
Post on the Ebay UK boards for better information that applies to your area, please

Not so! I’ve been doing this for 25 years on eBay. Most people don’t remember what it used to be like. Every single item you listed would sell. There were millions of buyers and not so many sellers. It was a wonderful place to do business. Now you have so many sellers thinking they will start selling and make tons of income, underpricing the next guy again and again until there’s not much to be made. Millions of sellers around the world. So EBay obviously can’t honor every single seller. What they decided to do is make the most money possible off of the back of sellers by increasing fees, charging fees on shipping, sales taxes, adding more fees to promote listings and if you want your items to pop up in outside searches bang punch big fees ( your listings used to show up on google searches at no cost) they don’t care about loyalty any more only MONEY to be made. It’s working against them. They are losing quality , honest sellers with perfect feedback. I decided to buy a couple of Christmas gifts on eBay this year. Of the 2 items I bought one was a scam. The seller had a perfect feedback so I trusted it. They had a tracking number sent from a real company. Once the item showed delivered and I got nothing I called the post office. They sent me a copy of the label. An empty package was mail to someone in my town not my address. Very dirty scammers. My sales have been the same for 20 years I made $40,000 a year. Last year I made $24,000. I know what sells I’m good at this job. Why? Because I won’t promote and pay all those extra fees and lose money that’s why.

If you love Fakebook marketplace, then you have never had an issue with it. I've been in online retail for decades and FB almost destroyed my business in November because of a fake INSTA account. They created a fake insta, stole my identity on my fakebook BUSINESS page and META took all of my accounts, including my personal page and marketplace listings down but not before the thief got all of my payment information, which they also used. Credit cards, paypal, and bank accounts. Everything tied to Facebook for ads, and payments and expenses. Facebook has ZERO protection for sellers. Facebook has ZERO customer service; you can't talk to anyone about your stolen identity. It took months to clean up my finances.
Moral of the story? You get what you pay for. Be very careful with them. I'll stick with ebay. Ebay, believe it or not, DOES have your back.
