Anyone deal with this situation? I sold a new sealed router and it was delivered to buyer 3 days ago. It was a no return auction. Today an eBay request for return from the seller was denied by me, reason for return request was the buyer needed technical support and the company charges for that service. Within hours the buyer filed a claim with his funding source saying the item was returned and the credit not processed. The buyer has yet to inform me (the seller) that he has returned the item for which he was clearly denied a return exception to a no return sale. I received no further messages from the buyer and within a few hours I receive a notification from PayPal indicating the buyer opened a case. I replied back to PayPal who will present my responce to the funding source. The buyer opened a new item from a no return sale and returned it without approval. Now he files for a refund with his funding source saying he returned the item and no refund given. He could not have sent it back before today so I have not gotten it yet.

This is not true at all, I've had 4 chargeback cases filed through PP and they all had to return the merchandise, only one actually did and they were the only one to get a refund once I had the merchandise in hand.

I have won all three of the 3rd party chargebacks that filed but did not return the merchandise. I've always stipulated that merchandise must be returned and refund will be issued immediately upon return. Persistence pays off and PP is much easier to deal with than eBay.

I have had the exact same situation happen and I won also, plus PP removed the $20 fee. It's discouraging when people here say "you can't win" or "I've never heard of anyone winning a chargeback", etc. when it's just simply not true. Yes, you have to dot your i's and cross your t's and be very persistent and polite but you can win, especially when they're trying to rip you off.

Thank you for posting the postive results of a seller winning a charge back and for you and several of them. Not as easy as some scammers think to do this. In today's environment where internet fraud is growing, many companies have emerged to help sellers with fraudulent chargebacks. It has become essential to assist businesses especially online with this problem. Also, the environment for legal issues is going to eventually catch up significantly as far as Police reporting. Internet fraud investigations and mail fraud issues. These legal issues are still in their infancy, but they must continue to be beefed up due to the threats of fraud for merchants on the internet.
