So, I have (had) 100% feedback for 1200+ transactions. I made one, ONE listing error and a buyer had the ability with his non-communicating feedback to drop me to 97.5%!!!! Really eBay??? How is that even determined??? I listed by MISTKE two available because it was a pair. I did not realize that I had done that. The item sold and I suddenly realized what I did. I immediately contacted the buyer and refunded him with what exactly happened. So far he is refusing to update the negative feedback after begging him. Great guy, NOT. I completely understand the reason for feedback, as in the seller or buyer got screwed over. That’s NOT what happened in this case!
Thanks eBay way to have my back!

Sorry this happened to you.
We must sometimes accept what we get when we make an error.
The buyer was less than pleased with the situation. It resulted in a negative experience for them.

If you click on the explanation mark next to the 97.6 it gives the formula for determining the persentage .

Feedback left by buyer can only be removed if buyer abused eBay's guidelines.
eBay do remove feedback if they are able to justify reasons for removal to them self first and if challenged then to buyer.
You can leave a response / explanation on the feedback left by your buyer and vast majority if not all decent buyers will understand that you made a mistake and owned up to your error.

How is that even determined???
Click the little i right next to the feedback % and it will tell you the math.....
The buyer did get "screwed over".......he bought an item he didn't get.......
We all DO make mistakes.......and the best thing to do is own up to it and apologize..........I see your answer.....not a word of apology. It's no wonder the buyer won't revise the feedback........

So yes, I referenced that in my post. Obviously I accepted that I made a mistake by immediately correcting with communication and refund. No harm done. How about a neutral response? Why try to hurt someone over a simple mistake? Makes absolute zero sense!

Oh, sorry. Thank you for your reply.

Buyer had a negative experience and left a neg. Live with it: your mistake not theirs.

As advised above a professional reply to the FB will go a long way..
Most of not all sellers & buyers realize that one angry buyer can ding FB scores.
It can be an unhappy buyer for an honest seller mistake or a buyer out to do harm, get revenge for seller not giving partials etc..
Speaking as a buyer here: That one neg would not stop me from buying from you..
I know it stings but it will drop in due time.. Try not to take it so hard..

Feedback percentage is calculated based on only the previous 12 months of feedback.

Your job is not to convince us that you don't deserve the Negative you received, your job is to convince your buyer. Did you offer a substitute, a future discount, etc. I hope eBay never has anyone's "back" when it comes to buyers leaving honest feedback. You earned the feedback, intentionally or not, so get over yourself and see if you can fix things with your buyer.

A refund doesn't correct the mistake; it simply reverses the transaction. The buyer still doesn't get the item they paid for. It's up to the buyer to decide if any harm was done.
Your feedback reply, where you state that you asked the buyer to "correct" the feedback, is not helpful since unlike the listing, the feedback was not left in error.
Your feedback % is calculated the same way it has been for many years. It only uses the feedback from the past 12 months, and does not count repeat feedback from the same buyer in the same week. So your % is (40/41) = 97.6%.

I think you are over reacting...
And I hope if you post a response to the negative feedback you don't use a lot of "!!!!" and over react this way or it will look very unprofessional to future buyers.
One negative is not the end of the world. Of course it doesn't feel good but spending this much time thinking about it, talking about it, getting this emotional over it etc is not healthy.
Keep in mind, feedback is the buyers opinion of the transaction. That means there's no right or wrong, it's how they think/feel. Is it rude to jump right to a neg? Well some would say sure. But remember in this world "it takes all kinds."

Don't sweat the neg. I have multiple selling id's, I do just as well, perhaps even better with the ones that have 1 or 2 negs than I do with the 100% positive accounts.
I don't usually respond to negs at all but when I do it's always limited to a simple apology and an acknowledgement that I made an error (even if I didn't), I would never post anything that was in any way shape or form negative towards the buyer.
The response to a neg is for the reading pleasure of FUTURE buyers not the buyer who gave you the neg.
