Return fraud, sellers beware - Return to different address within same zip code.

By the tracking number, the postmaster in the local usps office can verify that the return package was delivered to a different address from the default return address. The USPS return shipping label was dispatched by ebay, I don't know how they change the default return address,  I found out until the return case was closed by ebay according to the tracking shows delivered. I am sure there is a glitch and Ebay can fix it easily, but I don't why Ebay is not fixing it.

I have reported it to Ebay, and  I am waiting for Ebay's decision.

So go get your returned item from that glitch address?

If the address on the label was wrong there is a chance that the buyer purposely changed the address and if that is the case, the item won't be at the delivery address..it will be a small envelope.

Re: Return fraud, sellers beware - Return to different address within same zip code

This happened to me 5 times this year. 4 times to a forwarding address in Delaware and one to an address in NY. I was covered every time after calling USPS/UPS and showing it was not returned to my address. I've heard it's happening to a lot of sellers and eBay/PayPal are covering these out of their pockets so they need to fix it soon!

It's not your item. It's a low cost item from another retailer

postmaster can see in the system that it  is a 8 oz package, and we are waiting for a 8 lb package.

@worldwide_ship  - You say you were "covered"?  How did you accomplish proving this to e-Bay when this seems to be "bot" driven to just refund the Buyer once it shows as delivered?

I ask as we have this situation right now - we have automatic 30 day free returns.  E-bay notified us on Sunday of a return, tracking shows delivered to us yesterday and we have no parcel.  I have reached out to our PO and they are researching with our letter carrier and will call us tomorrow, but since I do not have a copy of anything, how did you know it was a different address?

Thanks - I will mention that tomorrow when our local PO calls us.  We have no parcel and nothing delivered to us per our Ring doorbell camera.  No clue where it is, but it is not here.

...misdelivery perhaps...???

...a substitute instead of your regular mailman...a new hiring level calls CCA whom wasn't formally well-trained and lacked of interesting in doing his/her position...???

...USPS delivery scanner records can provide GPS foot stage of delivery time...

...ask the USPS representative what address was associated with the tracking number, the GPS records of delivery time, who was the mail carrier on that day, don't forget to mention that you had Ring doorbell security system which clearly showed no porch pirates (if applicable)...

Re: Return fraud, sellers beware - Return to different address within same zip code

For USPS you need to go to your local post office and ask for them to search the tracking number in the "USPS Intranet System." They should be able print you out a paper showing it was delivered to a different address as well as all sorts of other information. For UPS you need to file a claim, or contact the customer service (which could be a hassle).  You can also request the information at https://pfoiapal.usps.com/ but I've personally never done that.

Re: Return fraud, sellers beware - Return to different address within same zip code

This seems to happen constantly and, given the fact that eBay is notoriously protective of the buyer, it blows my mind that no measures have been put in place to address it.

Just out of curiosity, I wonder what would happen in this exact situation if you filed an INAD and returned an empty envelope. . .

EDIT: I got buyer/seller confused - I thought the post was from a buyer. It's happening on both ends gah
