Positive Feedback With A Negative Comment

I had a buyer leave me a positive rating with a rude negative comment.

For the life of me I cannot find where to report this. I know it is not permitted, but this buyer does it to at least 50% of his purchases.

I contacted eBay, and that was a waste of time. The gal didn’t even know what I was talking about.

Am I missing something as there used to be a link. On the appeal feedback link there are only two options, negative or neutral.

It is the principle of the thing. Thanks in advance.

IF it was this one, that's not the reply I would have left. That second sentence was more of an antagonizing gesture towards the Buyer, kind of like "Hey Idiot", blah blah blah, than an informative statement. No, majority of Buyers do not keep up with Postal Rate increases. Why would they? Selling and Shipping is not part of their game on Ebay. They're here to Buy, not Sell and Ship.

A simple:
"Sellers do not control the Price or Cost of Shipping on Ebay, that is between the Post Office and Ebay only. I wish we, Sellers, could control Shipping prices, but we can not.  Thank You for your purchase."

Then go on about your day with that POSITIVE. That looks a little more astute, empathetic towards Buyers concerns. Buyer side of me would look at that 2nd sentence as is this a Seller I want to buy from or not IF I looked at Feedback in this manner. I don't, but others do.

Sorry I do not agree with you in the slightest.

1. The buyer is also a seller! Obviously they know shipping prices.

2. The buyer didn’t like the shipping price , he didn’t have to buy it.
3. The buyer leaves constant similar rude comments to a large percentage  of sellers they purchase from.

P.S. I am tired of coddled,” gen whatever”  people.  I charged $10.50 to ship this and the actual shipping was $8 and change. Of course taking this directly to the post office so it would get to him in 2 days doesn’t count.

PPS. I don’t have to entice people to buy from me. My 25 years here and positive feedback speaks for itself. Oh Have a nice day. 🙄

I think it's rather innocuous... both the feedback and the reply. I'd wear that green donut! 🙂

But what you don't get is that responses like that SEEN by "Buyers" not in the game (Sellers), see that comment as an assssy comment. Comments that can and do give ebay the reputation it has.

Believe me, after over 25 years on ebay myself, and have dealt with as much as you have with these Buyers, I am probably a bigger asssssy than most are. It's seen here with as many warnings and suspensions I've gotten with all these weak members here reporting every other thing I post.

BUT, I keep it here, back here with us who know what's going on out there on the market. I rarely rarely every express what truly needs to be said to the people who are willing to spend their money on ebay to BUY the items I am selling. No Reason for it. You can get tired of "Coddled Generation" all you want, but they're still paying your bills for you. Providing ebay with the money ebay is depositing into your account. And why one wants to stymie the reason they're selling on ebay to make that income, as in being pretentious towards Buyers, OUT IN THE OPEN, PUBLICLY, just befuddles me. Something I will never understand.

Re: Positive Feedback With A Negative Comment

You can get the feedback removed if you really want to.  The buyer is violating ebay policy.  Report the buyer or ask ebay to call you (which you can easily do by using the ? on your drafts page).

Not sure why you're being told it isn't a violation, but here are the steps to getting it removed...

Who's to say this is a "Negative" comment placed within a Positive Feedback Rating?

"Way Overpriced Shipping" is just an Opinion when it comes to what they paid in shipping. And by Sellers own admission, they charged the Buyer $10.50 in Shipping Charges when actual Shipping Cost was only $8 something. $2 difference could very well be in the overpriced category. Then they just made a statement, "They're not going to buy from this Seller again".

That was their experience with this Seller, how the transaction went. Seller here should be Happy this is a POSITIVE, and not a Negative.

Nothing wrong with this Feedback, and it doesn't fall anywhere near what this Policy Covers. Any ebay Rep should scoff at trying to get this removed under this Policy. It shouldn't be removed.

A Seller fighting to get a POSITIVE removed off their Feedback. Yeah, never thought I'd ever see that one coming. 😂

That was what I saw…I was curious as I do value “most” opinions on this board. Thanks and have a nice holiday.

Re: Positive Feedback With A Negative Comment

You too and you're welcome!  I half agree with the others, insofar as you have so much feedback that no one will see that one silly comment, but you do have the right to have the feedback removed on the basis of policy if it bothers you.

In fairness, I have to say it would irk me too so I fully understand why you posted.

Re: Positive Feedback With A Negative Comment

Ebay doesn’t really allow for negative feedback anymore so the whole feedback rating is pointless anyway

Ebay certainly DOES allow for negs for sellers. It's only for buyers that all feedback must be positive, both in rating and comments.

Re: Positive Feedback With A Negative Comment

I always had a problem with eBay feedback compared to Amazon. Amazon lets us rate the product and the seller separately. With eBay, there is a problem when the seller did everything right but the product is bad. I have on occasion given a positive rating and mentioned things I didn't like about the product or transaction.

As sellers would you like buyers to start giving out more neutrals and negatives to match the text of the comments? Its possible the buyer is just giving you the benefit of the doubt and giving a positive instead of a neutral or negative. Is that really something to complain about?

@ccomic

My point is the account holder who is also a seller does this on just about everything he purchases. That is abusive ..one after of another.

I can see being annoyed on occasion, but this buyer/seller is a chronic complainer.

There are people like that. Just block and ignore! It's not the big deal you're making it out to be.

And as was pointed out earlier, some of your responses could have been better! (Interesting how you ignored my comment here! Your reply to the feedback hurts you (IMO) more than a positive feedback with the buyer's opinion.

I ask a question that was all. I didn’t make it a “big deal”

I didn’t respond to your comment  because I didn’t see any reason to
