No response in technical so trying here. Help?

20 years folks. Im surprised I have a hair left in my head or a spoon that hasnt been used to gouge out my own eyeballs.

 

Very simple. Just wanted to downgrade my store subscription from premium to basic as im no longer listing even 200 listings instead of the 1000 the premium store gets free. Well all options to downgrade, upgrade, cancel or otherwise were grayed out due to an error on the page saying "Invalid payment method". Well my credit card is in perfect standing and has been since Ive owned it. I called my bank to confirm. The first customer service agent suggested for me to reenter my same card and I got the good ole "Double check your card number" error." The second customer service agent pulled my time tested ebay favorite answer by manually removing my card and then telling me to reenter it now..........to which I got the exact same error. When she immediately seemed confused she decided to try the "well i will personally call you back in 24 hours to make sure we get it fixed, the system just needs time." Its a good thing I knew this well trained lie upfront for holding my breath would have been catastrophic. Of course she never called. Imagine my surprise.....yawn.....next. So 30 hours later I tried a 3rd time. This young lady helped tremendously by saying she called her technical team and they would.........................suspenseful pause.........................call me back in 24 hours. Now 3 days later the 4th rep just told me my card was declined as far back as 3 days ago.................even though Im using to make purchases daily at the store etc and even though my bank says my accounts are all in perfect standing and working order. Still on hold while he "tries something else". Betting countless dollars here that they will offer to call me back tomorrow.

 

Im on my last leg here folks. I went from just wanting to lower my store subscription to now I have no payment source instead of the one that was working just fine. Im sure ebay will not care that it was their fault when they attempt to collect my fees and sub with no payment source. I do not keep money in paypal already because I have lost trust in ebay.

 

Anyone have a work around for this or a fix to this several year old "glitch"?

I think Trinton might have a point. If you’re wanting to keep your PayPal account separate and only use the deleted card for your invoices, I think setting up a separate PayPal account with that credit card as the only funding source might be a temporary fix. Then add that PayPal account as your back up funding for eBay fees.

 

You could still have the other PayPal account in your listings and that would be where buyers would pay you. It’s not a perfect solution but it might hold you over until eBay can fix this.

Is your store subscription on an annual basis?

If so you only have a small window to cancel / renew / downgrade.

Most of these big corporations don't help much in these matters.

Anyhow, I wonder if even month-to-month subscriptions suffer from that small window issue?

I appreciate the suggestion with other paypal account. Its something to consider. I didnt get that from Trinton at all. I got from him the same the over seas people have been telling me. "Use paypal as your automatic payment source" with the credit card being linked. As though they would charge the credit card. That isnt how it works though. They take from the balance first if available.

Yes a second paypal account would alleviate that...........but yes its a hassle and why does it make any sense that I could pay them with this card that way but can not put it back on file with ebay? Ive done everything I could possibly do to ensure that I am good to go on my end.

He actually just responded on my "knowledge base" attempt at help that ebay tried to contact me via phone but my phone number is wrong in their system. Yet another system glitch as my number is perfect on my personal page and they have contacted me via phone. <Shrug> Just another hoop im asked to jump through for them when its made to look like an inconvenience that I even ask for help.........after their help made it worse.

I don't know what to think of this. Is it eBay gearing up for when they accept payments without PayPal. Maybe they don't want payments with no connections to a bank account or other account. They will need to start reporting income on 1099's or maybe with the new sales tax. They don't want to get stuck holding the bag? 

 

I think this is not just a glitch but a planned glitch.

There is not a chance in heck I would ever give ebay access to withdraw funds at their leisure due to the likelyhood of "glitches" and the proven guarantee of "no customer service". Imagine getting over charged (which has happened more than a few times over my 20 years). And then having to deal with the phillpines customer service I have dealt with to get it fixed. Given recent results I would imagine I would go in looking for $20 reimbursed and come out owing $110 with a couple of communicable diseases.

Hi @cashvaluerecovery2011, what I was suggesting previously is creating a PayPal account specifically for the purposes of your automatic payment method, setting up your credit card as the funding source, and not using this account for any other purposes. If you did this, then there would be not balance to pull from, only the credit card. 

 

To be clear, this is just a suggestion to help you get this resolved sooner. As I mentioned in my first response, I've got this over for review and hopefully we can get the ideal solution in place for you.

Isn't there still a limit on how many PayPal accounts you can have?

Yes. You can have one Consumer account and one  Business account. You can add more email addresses, debit or credit cards, and bank accounts to your account, but each account must have its own email address and financial information. You can also upgrade your Consumer account to a Business account.

I will look into it. I currently have a business paypal account with this card already linked on it. I called paypal to check if I can have a separate account with the same credit card linked to it as well and.........I got a call center in phillipines..........who gave me 3 different answers lol.

Thanks for trying Trinton I appreciate it. Ive gone all over the place on my ebay account looking for a bad phone number. There is not one. I do keep getting calls on my phone from ebay but when I answer I get either no sound or an ebay message saying "the call back service is currently unavailable."

I give you my word im not making this up. This is really what im up against here my friend.

Hi @cashvaluerecovery2011, I don't doubt at all that you've been running into the trouble you describe and can only imagine how frustrating it has been. I know you've received an update on this from the appropriate teams and that they are working with you get this resolved, so hopefully soon you can get the financial information input the way you need. If for some reason this whole process causes issues with attempting to downgrade your store after you have been able to add an Automatic Payment Method, I will be happy to help get this resolved at that time. I am not able to downgrade your store subscription on your behalf without an APM on file, but keep me posted if you are able to update this and have trouble downgrading.

Thanks again. The store sub downgrade is much less concerning now that I can no longer even list items. Once that part gets taken care if at all the store downgrade is easy. Thanks.

Update for ya! You will love it. The american guy I got through Trinton, via email only, worked on my deal about a week. Ended up saying my credit card company was blocking ebay because of the cvv number even though I was getting a double check card number error. I spoke with credit card company tech supervisor. He said there is absolutely no blocks or errors of use showing on my account and told me point blank while laughing............nobody is having a problem with this card for the last 19 years except ebay. So its ebay.

Long story short, I had to order a new card and take the risk of it screwing up my other vendors and platforms when updating to the new card. All 14 of them accepted the new card with zero problems. Ebay of course DID NOT.........double check card number error again. 4 year newer expiry brand new cvv. Same error, same situation, another month of premium store fees without the ability to list.

This is a very common bank, and card company. The card was on ebay for longer than I can remember and the account has been perfect for 19 years. I KNOW with 100% certainty it is not me, or my card as nobody else on the planet has a problem with it but ebay. It certainly has that feeling of being forced into using paypal or my bankaccount as the payment source. Could you imagine trying to get help with an overwithdrawn transaction with this customer service? Say bye bye to your money.

 So after almost a month of ebays customer no service..........after ordering a new card with new expiration and cvv and changing all my other vendors to that card with no problem and it NOT working here yet again. My new business card JUST for ebay came in. Different company, different bank, entirely different card all together. Insta approval, turned down the 6 figures they approved it for and went with "well plenty". I go to add the new card to finally be able to list again and.............................something happened...................that wasnt an error.

 

I kid you not the credit card showed live and updated!!!!! Only wait there is more..................Guess which card showed up as my automatic payment method? Not the one I just entered. Not the last brand new one with same number but new expiration and cvv...............but the original darn card number that Ebay phillipines removed without my permission that wouldnt work, wouldnt reupdate. And caused alllllllll this trouble to begin with.

 

Ebay says my old card was getting a cvv block from my credit card company which I knew was complete garbage. My credit card company would see any blocks. I do believe ebay might be getting that error but its in their system.........not mine..........not visa..........not my bank. Well now its proven. I had NO automatic payment method for nearly a month. I could not list because of no auto payment method. I entered the newest card today and the automatic payment method that showed up was for the original card that ebay would not let me re enter. I was then able to enter my new card a second time...........having 2 cards and removing the old one.

 

Problem solved. On my own. Cost me a months sales. Credits promised back to me by customer service 2 weeks ago are still not credited of course. Old card was still somehow saved in system but unseeable.........likely due to being removed manually by someone who had no idea, permission, policy that says they could remove it. Was likely done wrong and somehow was still in system blocking anything I did.

 

Goodluck sellers. Remember all we have is ourselves and each other. I appreciate yalls patience and advice and support.
