No response in technical so trying here. Help?

20 years folks. Im surprised I have a hair left in my head or a spoon that hasnt been used to gouge out my own eyeballs.

Very simple. Just wanted to downgrade my store subscription from premium to basic as im no longer listing even 200 listings instead of the 1000 the premium store gets free. Well all options to downgrade, upgrade, cancel or otherwise were grayed out due to an error on the page saying "Invalid payment method". Well my credit card is in perfect standing and has been since Ive owned it. I called my bank to confirm. The first customer service agent suggested for me to reenter my same card and I got the good ole "Double check your card number" error." The second customer service agent pulled my time tested ebay favorite answer by manually removing my card and then telling me to reenter it now..........to which I got the exact same error. When she immediately seemed confused she decided to try the "well i will personally call you back in 24 hours to make sure we get it fixed, the system just needs time." Its a good thing I knew this well trained lie upfront for holding my breath would have been catastrophic. Of course she never called. Imagine my surprise.....yawn.....next. So 30 hours later I tried a 3rd time. This young lady helped tremendously by saying she called her technical team and they would.........................suspenseful pause.........................call me back in 24 hours. Now 3 days later the 4th rep just told me my card was declined as far back as 3 days ago.................even though Im using to make purchases daily at the store etc and even though my bank says my accounts are all in perfect standing and working order. Still on hold while he "tries something else". Betting countless dollars here that they will offer to call me back tomorrow.

Im on my last leg here folks. I went from just wanting to lower my store subscription to now I have no payment source instead of the one that was working just fine. Im sure ebay will not care that it was their fault when they attempt to collect my fees and sub with no payment source. I do not keep money in paypal already because I have lost trust in ebay.

Anyone have a work around for this or a fix to this several year old "glitch"?

I'm back. Is your address the same in PayPal and eBay, ie did you move? I heard someone else had this problem,

Just another stab in the dark of course.

Paypal card and address is same as ebay card and address. The ONLY difference anywhere is when the card was on file and working monday as an automatic payment source (but said invalid payment source) the address was the same as my bill on the "change automatic billing method" page. The only address difference I have found through this entire debacle was that under my "business address" it showed my old brick and mortar address. But that had nothing to do with my credit card address, my ship from address, or my ship to address..........all which matched each other and paypal. Of course I changed the business address to no avail in helping with this credit card.

Re: No response in technical so trying here. Help? UPDATE 5:46 pm est bottom of page 3

So I tried to try any trick I could think of since its clear nobody from ebay is going to help either via phone, here, or twitter/facebook. All of which I tried. So I added my personal card with the intent to see if either that card was blocked as well or if it has something to do with my computer or cookies / browser whatever. It took the card fine of course but I dont want business expenses showing up on my personal card and giving an IRS auditor any kind of ammunition to do any **bleep** probing. So I immediately attempted to remove this card and got a new error. BIG giant red box error "You may not remove this payment source at this time as you have active transactions."

Well **bleep** I thought. No problem Im smarter than this. So I did a one time payment with guess what...................the business card that ebays system doesnt want me to use and ebay system took the payment just fine, because as I have said, the card is perfect. So now my $32 balance which is from yesterdays sales since I had already paid last months fees off this week, is $0. I should have no "active transactions" blocking me from removing my personal card. Screeching halt to anything that makes sense here because I got the exact same error. I thought hrm, I will add paypal as my payment source which would force my credit card to the back up source which would allow me to remove the credit card..........and then I could remove paypal as the source or block ebay through paypal. Screeching halt again. I got the same error trying to remove either payment source.

BACK to the phillipines for me where Mao or Mal or Mau helped me. This was my favorite out of 10 reps this week. Calm, well spoken, and refused to give up. He tried stuff nobody else had. Asked me questions that made it appear he thought up himself instead of the cardboard script that I now know word for word. When NOTHING worked and he said clearly you just paid with the card you want on so we know its good but he cant add it........policy and it would be blocked to him to.................he did say but im allowed to remove your payment sources with a $0 balance to which he did.

So the update is after 20 years im about 7 hours from ending my ebay journey. And Mau was the only one I could say actually made any effort what so ever in assisting me. It only took 10 reps,  17 hours on the phone over 6 days, 1 ebay forum employee, 2 supervisors , tons of broken promises, a complete whiff on twitter and facebook for me to get a warm feeling that this really is it and that ebay either really does not care or is incapable of even realizing they have a problem retaining good business. Ive done over 7 figures in sales over all my accounts twice and have spent well over a couple hundred grand as a buyer here. Nobody capable is stepping up or even saying good bye.

If you wonder why ebay is wondering what their future holds its because of this right here. SO simple for one person that matters to reach out and say dont go we will fix it. Those people are unavailable to me. Amazon will be happy I have even more time on my hands for them.

I am not sure if you said everything is good or not. Seems like you need a drink after all that. I feel your frustration.

Just a little defense of the CS workers. They are given a little box to work in. They are only allowed in that little box of information. They have no one to bump you up to and they have to solve the problem within that box. Your last CS had more experience and stuck with you but he too has to stay in the little box.

Not one problem with the CS folks until they lie or hang up on me or remove my credit card causing a monumentally bigger problem than what I started with.

I appreciate they are given little to work with. No excuse for being dishonest and saying someone will call ya and they do not. It would be much more professional and appreciated to hear "I have no idea man sorry."

Those guys gave me a great idea..........just call paypal. Maybe paypal knows about this issue since they are peas in pods with ebay.

Paypal is not "peas in a pod" with eBay.

Not only are they separate companies, but eBay is actively working to get sellers to switch from PayPal to another payment processor called Ayden.

I'm not sure why calling PayPal about an eBay issue would be a "great idea".

i don't think this has been suggested. If it has, my apologies.  most banks(i presume you do your banking online) will offer a one time credit card number for use for online purchases.. you set the amount on the card.. and the number is active for 24 hours i believe.. you could get one of those.. then use that temporary one time number as the replacement payment method.. then cancel the store. then the number and validity would expire in 24 hours. hope this helps.

Paypal is not "peas in a pod" with eBay.

Not only are they separate companies, but ....

So long as eBay can snag your paypal funds, and put you in 21 day payment hold camp....they are worse than being just peas in a pod.  I truly feel for the OP.  His experience is worse than just frustrating.

@cashvaluerecovery2011

@Anonymous

It's just so sad to see a seller of twenty years leave because of something like this.  While I wish you the best @cashvaluerecovery2011  I'm wishing that something will change so you can stay.

Trinton, please, is there anything that can be done for the OP?

Thank you!

One of the issues you are concerned about (the one about not being able to list while still being charged for a store subscription) might need some follow up with CS. If your credit card on file is now invalid, then how can ebay get paid for your current subscription when the payment is due? Is their internal system so whacked that they can still access the card to get paid while at the same time denying its use to you? Or, if they can't access the card, will they start hounding you for payment and threatening suspension? If you're not going to open a paypal account to clear up the mess, then you should probably discuss with CS about what is going to happen when subscription payment time is due and your 'invalid' card is all they have.

So, we went from Jaws to the twilight theme music?

God help us if this becomes the norm. Too many "updates", too many mistakes, too many calls, too many this and too many of that.

Good luck to you.

Because it was something I havent tried over 7 days? Paypal does 10s or 1000s of ebay transactions per day? Maybe someone there has heard of this issue as well? All "Great ideas" as to why trying paypal especially after a week of utter failure trying it through ebay.

Re: No response in technical so trying here. Help? UPDATE 5:46 pm est bottom of page 3

Thanks lasantino. My goal here at this point isnt to downgrade my store. Its to be able to continue my business and start listing again which was ceased when ebay CS removed my credit card.

I can downgrade my store simply by ending my relationship with ebay. I have a quarter million dollars worth of inventory that a lot of I planned to sell on ebay. Cant list it, no reason to be here.

I thought the term peas in pods was gentle. Partners in crime would be more fitting.
