20 years folks. Im surprised I have a hair left in my head or a spoon that hasnt been used to gouge out my own eyeballs.
Very simple. Just wanted to downgrade my store subscription from premium to basic as im no longer listing even 200 listings instead of the 1000 the premium store gets free. Well all options to downgrade, upgrade, cancel or otherwise were grayed out due to an error on the page saying "Invalid payment method". Well my credit card is in perfect standing and has been since Ive owned it. I called my bank to confirm. The first customer service agent suggested for me to reenter my same card and I got the good ole "Double check your card number" error." The second customer service agent pulled my time tested ebay favorite answer by manually removing my card and then telling me to reenter it now..........to which I got the exact same error. When she immediately seemed confused she decided to try the "well i will personally call you back in 24 hours to make sure we get it fixed, the system just needs time." Its a good thing I knew this well trained lie upfront for holding my breath would have been catastrophic. Of course she never called. Imagine my surprise.....yawn.....next. So 30 hours later I tried a 3rd time. This young lady helped tremendously by saying she called her technical team and they would.........................suspenseful pause.........................call me back in 24 hours. Now 3 days later the 4th rep just told me my card was declined as far back as 3 days ago.................even though Im using to make purchases daily at the store etc and even though my bank says my accounts are all in perfect standing and working order. Still on hold while he "tries something else". Betting countless dollars here that they will offer to call me back tomorrow.
Im on my last leg here folks. I went from just wanting to lower my store subscription to now I have no payment source instead of the one that was working just fine. Im sure ebay will not care that it was their fault when they attempt to collect my fees and sub with no payment source. I do not keep money in paypal already because I have lost trust in ebay.
Anyone have a work around for this or a fix to this several year old "glitch"?

So 4th ebay seller rep says after 1.5 hours on the phone that the other ebay seller rep should have never canceled my card and that is likely why ebay is now showing it declined. He also said it was "terrible" how my last 2 ebay reps promised to call me back the next day and failed to do so.................to which he then promised..............to call me back tomorrow.
My religion would've went out the window right then.
But...
Is your store subscription on an annual basis?
If so you only have a small window to cancel / renew / downgrade.
Most of these big corporations don't help much in these matters.
Like you want to leave NO!
NO YOU CAN NOT LEAVE!
Anyhow, I wonder if even month-to-month subscriptions suffer from that small window issue?

UPDATE!!!
To make matters even more obvious with ebay.
THEY FINALLY TRIED TO CALL ME BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I just got an email saying "Hello from ebay, we just tried to make a scheduled call back to assist with your case. Unfortunately the number dialed is no longer in use or operational. Please go into your ebay and make sure the number there is the one you wish to populate for us in the future. If you are still experiencing problems please press the "help" button at the top of most any page and contact customer service.
Folks its the same **bleep** number ive had for 20 years that is in my personal info. Its the same **bleep** number they already called me back on this week. My phone is right beside me working properly.
You literally can not make this stuff up with how bad this organization is.

"Even the CS rep who took my card off admitted she wasnt allowed to do that afterward and apologized." Quote
This is way out in left field, but I have been following your thread for a couple of days now and wonder if you have approached eBay with this spin... your account has been compromised (hacked) because this rep handled your account in a manner that is not allowed or authorized by you as the credit card holder? They are very quick responding to "hacked" accounts.

I will be canceling my account entirely if this does not get resolved today. Just as I promised earlier in this post. So no reason to risk linking paypal for 3 seconds to do what will be done shortly with no resolution.
I get ya though.
That's cool, but I will leave you with this:
Whether you think you can or whether you think you can't, you're absolutely right.
Having read this thread, unfortunately I fully believe this is your fault due to some petty little oversight somewhere. And it is unfortunate ebay can't figure it out but you throw it their way, they throw it back your way and it's game on.
Things like these:
@cashvaluerecovery2011 wrote:Well **bleep** I thought. No problem Im smarter than this. So I did a one time payment with guess what...................the business card that ebays system doesnt want me to use and ebay system took the payment just fine, because as I have said, the card is perfect. So now my $32 balance which is from yesterdays sales since I had already paid last months fees off this week, is $0. I should have no "active transactions" blocking me from removing my personal card. Screeching halt to anything that makes sense here because I got the exact same error. I thought hrm, I will add paypal as my payment source which would force my credit card to the back up source which would allow me to remove the credit card..........and then I could remove paypal as the source or block ebay through paypal. Screeching halt again. I got the same error trying to remove either payment source.
That's no good, you can't fix a problem that way.
I have never in my life been able to solve a problem by throwing things around.
If you want to solve a problem you have to take a methodical step-by-step approach.
You can't get ahead of yourself, you can't create huge confusion and then blame the system if you wish to solve the problem. Chances are the solution is quite simple, I see it in ways similar as to when some networked printer doesn't want to work all of a sudden.
It's quite the pita and there's no simple solution but ultimately it is a simple little thing causing all the commotion.
But letting frustration set us on the war path, it's no good.
I have been there, it is hard to impossible to get anything resolved from there.
So close your account or take a good long break and then maybe when things have quieted down, you can try one more time to solve the problem but I'd make sure you give it a good time between now and then, let the mind clear.

We differ on the honesty aspect, as I am an honest person, too. What the rep did compromised your account, even if it was done in the spirit of trying to help and a lack of knowledge. So, IMHO calling it out is not dishonest.

I pay my monthly bills on the exact same day every month in full. Have never paid a penny of interest to my credit card. I have an 836 beacon score. I also have receipts to donuts I have purchased 20 years ago filed away. I am 100% certain that it is not a card issue, payment issue, credit issue, or something I have caused. This is 100% an ebay issue and all the promised calls are now well past the promised delivery. Including Trintons getting back to me on the boards.
As for the dont want to link paypal to ebay to take automatic payments. Here is your explanation. Over the course of 20 years ebay has incorrectly billed my credit card at least a dozen times. Recently Etsy stole millions of dollars from their sellers and called it a glitch when they over charged for fees and took money right out of peoples bank accounts. Ebay is obviously having problems and if Ebay pulls an Etsy those of you with paypal and bank accounts that ebay has access to may very well be calling the same customer service people who cant help me in order to get your money back. I on the other hand will be having no problems. The other reason is because ebay offers no seller protection what so ever but my credit card company does.
Very very simple. Hope that helps.
Hi @cashvaluerecovery2011, I apologize if there was a misunderstanding; while I'm happy to help and have seen the update you provided, I did not mean to indicate that I would be responding within any certain amount of time. The Community Boards are a peer-to-peer support forum and are not intended for Customer Service purposes. While I can absolutely get the issue you are running into investigated and work on a fix, I may not be able to review or reply to your updates in the way the same timeframe Customer Service may.
That all in mind, I've reported your situation to our tech teams. I can see that you've stated you are unwilling to change your funding source to your bank or PayPal and while this is ultimately your decision to make, I do encourage you to consider setting up a PayPal account as your automatic payment method with whatever card you are attempting to use as the Funding Source for that account as a way of getting the result you are looking for.
I understand that you are using the same card on other sites without a problem, but that being fact would not resolve the problem on our site. If there is no other solution, you may have to reconsider your stance on adding your bank or PayPal. Ideally a different option will become available, but I wanted to prepare you for other possibilities.
