New Fee?

This is the first time I've seen (or noticed), this "Retail Delivery Fee". Anybody seen this before?

Yep.  Another  woke green tax.   They don't refund it if the sale falls through.  Including INR refunds.

Another misuse of the word "woke".

The actual definition of "woke" is NOT as insulting as you want to make it seem it is.

The definition of "woke" changes depending on who you ask.  Which isn't really how the definition of words work.

The term has recently been used by some conservatives as an umbrella term for progressive view points, often using it with negative connotations.  However, the term was originally coined by progressive Black Americans and used in racial justice movements in the early to mid-1900s.

The term has evolved to encompass a broader understanding of social inequalities, including sexism and LGBTQ rights.  It means to be INFORMED about this stuff.

I find it sad that for some to be INFORMED is a negative thing.  It doesn't mean you have to agree with a progressive point of view, but being INFORMED so you actually know what you are disagreeing with should just be a base line.

What's wrong with that is that they already have the money needed for bridges and textbooks but choose to

be irresponsible in the way they spend taxpayer money.

They just keep wanting more and more to fund all sorts of things that aren't necessary or even wanted by the people that pay those taxes.

No, that money was frozen.  Trump administration has issued an executive order pausing the disbursement of funds from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, which includes money for highway and bridge repairs, as well as transit improvements. This action has been criticized by some, who argue it is an illegal impoundment of congressionally approved funds.

Now we apparently have a plane that will take about 3 years to retrofit and $750 million tax payer dollars.  At the end of POTUS's term, it will go to his Presidential Library and be his to use personally.

While we have two Air Force One planes on order with Boeing.  And yes the tax payers are paying for those too.  Towards the end on POTUS's term one or both planes will likely be deliverable by Boeing if there aren't any more delays.  Seems like a whole lot of money out of our pockets.

What's wrong with that? I'd rather pay a little more to make sure the bridges I drive on are safe, and kids get the best text books available.

Can't wait to see the Air Force One remodel fee.

Problem is the stated goals are never achieved and the money is always diverted to some politicians. brothers uncles pocket.

New tax revenue always causes a feeding frenzy among politicians as they are all trying to secure their share of the new found bounty

@bashort

"you obviously have not one clue how taxes are spent"

Well, one of the obvious ways that we can see our taxes being spent, is flying the president to his private residence nearly every weekend so that he can play golf.

No other president did that nearly every weekend.

Re: New Fee?

I can't believe anyone would advocate for additional taxes, having seen the way our hard-earned taxes are  grifted, at least in my state where billions meant for the homeless are unaccounted for.

Re: New Fee?

The problem is we already pay property taxes to fund schools and gasoline tax to pay for roads and bridges.

YOu do realize those are local / state costs.  Most if not all schools also get Federal Funding.  Well they use to.  There was federal funding for special education and special needs of disabled students.  Grants to improve a schools programming.  Pell grants.  Student loans for college.  And so much more.

I'm hopeful that once the dust settles there will be some of this federal funding to return to the Education system, but in the meantime, it all falls on the States.  That's a pretty big bill that is going to cause huge issues for many.

Re: New Fee?

Considering it was paid by the buyer - nothing for sellers to worry about. It's another part of sales & use tax.

@simba6 ,

As more and more people buy EV's the amount of gas tax state collects goes down.

Re: New Fee?

Way before Trump ever came on the scene politicians (both federal and local) have been finding ways to get more and more money from US taxpayers for things that are questionable to say the least.

Both federal and local politicians have been squandering taxpayer money for decades (probably a lot longer) instead of maintaining infrastructiure, seeing that our kids get a good education etc.etc. etc.

They already have had the money and chose to waste it on social enginering, the infrastructure of other countries and so on. Let's give them even more? No not until they start spending what they already get in a responsible way.....................

             My take on it anyway...................

Re: New Fee?

eBay collected Denver, Colorado sales tax too high

Today on 3 auctions won by a buyer in Denver, Colorado and paid for separately, eBay charged a sales tax that was twice as high as it should have been.  The sales tax rate for Denver is 8.81%.  One example, the order totaling $2.62 was charged a sales tax of $.47, but  $2.62 x 0.0881 = $.23.

@somanypostcards in July 2022, Colorado enacted a "retail delivery fee" of $0.27 for each sale on top of sales tax  - my guess is that may be at least part of what you are seeing here.

Colorado retail delivery fee

eBay, as a marketplace facilitator, is required to collect the Colorado retail delivery fee when taxable goods are shipped into the state of Colorado. This retail delivery fee is $0.27 applied to each sale. More information about the Colorado retail delivery fee can be found on the Colorado Retail Delivery Fee site.

Re: New Fee?

Well, the act of transportation was utilized, why would it be refunded?  I'd almost expect another fee added if the items were returned if they state was at all consistent on why they charge it in the first place
