Neutral feedback for a canceled order?

Had a 15 dollar order, five mins, after purchase was asked to cancel it, so I did, nothing new.
So this morning I see a neutral feedback for this.

Re: Neutral feedback for a canceled order?

Ouch.  That one hurt my brain.

I'm *guessing* they were still prompted to leave feedback, so thinking it was required they filled in simply what they did 'I canceled the order'.

This seems like an accident, or at least a buyer that doesn't know how the feedback system works.  They may be responsive to a feedback revision if you send them one.

There was no need to respond and bring attention to the neutral.

Should have just moved on.

IMO, they should block ability to leave any feedback with a cancelled order by the buyer. Just another bit of aggravation to have to deal with.

Re: Neutral feedback for a canceled order?

So even before I posted this, I requested that it to be removed, today I got the notice that the request had expired and the neutral will stay.
So much for solutions from Ebay, I've done this enough to expect little or nothing from Ebay, and my expectations are always met In the last several years.

Re: Neutral feedback for a canceled order?

I got a neut when a buyer canceled a remote he's purchased from me - I canceled it, but then he left me the neut saying that he had found his remote. I actually thought it was pretty funny and just let it stick - neuts like that should be removed, I agree, but they're not going to hurt anyone.

It is why, however, I don't do same-day shipping.

@chapeau-noir ,

Exactly, why get bet out of shape when neutral feedback doesn’t affect anything.

Shut up and don't worry about it.  RAh, RAH, Rah,   That's why this place is so toxic.

Did you send the request as suggested in post 5 or did you send the buyer a revision request?  I know the buyer ones are only good for around 10 days.

Re: Neutral feedback for a canceled order?

@hachumi ,

I probably should have added to my previous comment that what happened to you happened to me last week. I sent something and the USPS lost it based on tracking. The buyer left me neutral feedback indicating was lost by post office.

I didn't reach out to the buyer or even requested eBay remove it. I learned that working in commissioned sales for many years that you will NEVER make every customer happy. Sometimes you just have to move on and that's all I was trying to say with my comment. How is that toxic?

Re: Neutral feedback for a canceled order?

It does affect your seller stats.

I canceled an order and buyer left neutral feedback as a late shipment and shipping label was never generated

Due  to out of stock or damaged

Refused to change

Now my top rated seller status has been removed

Should this be fought with eBay?

The feedback didn't affect your selling status.  Cancelling for out of stock is the problem.  Have you looked at your seller dashboard?  Defects are what hurt your status.

Re: Neutral feedback for a canceled order?

One defect will almost never affect Top Rated Status (I'd say never, but I'm not 100% certain of that).  A pattern of cancellations, more than a certain percentage, is what does it. Check your Seller Dashboard to see how many other cancellations you had, and do your best to avoid cancelling unless you have to: https://sellerstandards.ebay.com/dashboard
