please forward this,
thanks
Mens Casual Shirts Button down...........as a category with the following "styles" listed:
Casual Shirts button down.......is simply NOT the right name for this category..........Polo needs to be removed since it is now a category on it's own......... there are NO buttons on a turtleneck or tank top. Either change the category name or remove the "styles" which don't apply.......
If someone will affirm it will be changed, I'll drop this.........otherwise you WILL be seeing this request again...........

What does it matter ? If you do not have a button down turtleneck just don't click button down turtleneck. It lets you even enter your own style.

To what purpose?
Those are SUGGESTIONS in the item specifics. You are not required to choose any of those suggestions.
"Enter your own."
'nuff said.

why does it matter? Because it's more sloppy work........ a new buyer is trying to figure out what category to use for a shirt........"Casual Shirt button down" would SEEM to mean only button down shirts in this category.......he's not going to go in to check the drop down stuff BECAUSE it says button down.........
Trying to figure out categories is hard enough without totally incorrect names for them...........

Sloppy like this?
- "a new buyer is trying to figure out what category to use for a shirt......."
he's not going to go in to check the drop down stuff BECAUSE it says button down.........
Since it appears that the Style section of the Item Specifics has a red asterisk, which means it is required? Thus, he IS going to go in and check the dropdown stuff. Again, those are SUGGESTIONS for item specifics. And the last option is Enter your own. If a new seller can't figure out how to scroll down to Enter your own, and not choose an incorrect style, then perhaps he is not ready to sell.
Trying to figure out categories is hard enough without totally incorrect names for them...........
The section you are raging about is not a CATEGORY. It is the Item Specifics.
If a seller has made it that far into listing, he really should be able to filter out the what does and does not apply to him. That is, after all, the purpose to dropdown menus in the Item Specifics.

I am ranting because the CATEGORY NAME is Casual Shirts Button Down
I pointed out the title is wrong because of the 'style item specifics', which are choices, include items that don't have buttons......
I don't know how to make it any clearer...........

Looks like those specifics were needed after all. I just checked and there are hundreds of BUTTON DOWN turtlenecks. Best to just go ahead and let it go.

Ebay's use of the term 'button down" has always bothered me. I was taught the correct term to be " button up" shirt, or " button front" blouse. " Button down" refers to a collar. They have said in the past that your item is more likely to be seen in search if you choose item specifics, from the drop down menu, and do not use the enter your own option. Is that no longer true? I listed a woman's dress the other day. The few choices for type included some asian styles I am not familiar with, but did not include shift, sheath, or shirt waist. I listed a girls dress recently and found the same asian styles choices, as well as "caftan" ...........for children. I am hoping that is what the plea for "product experts" is about. I am also hoping something is done with the fabric catagory. That has always been a mess. I feel your pain:-)

In Books the item specifics confuse me because the drop down menu lists ALL item specifics every time. I haven't called ebay about it yet. I am experienced and know what the item specifics used to be for a subcategory. I don't have to scroll through the whole list to find something to use. God knows how newbies are dealing with it.

my shirts are button down....i start at the top and button down...so there are button down.....
as far a turleneck.....button or no buttons...its a turtleneck and there is no up or down
I hope you all don't really think this is a game changer for EBAY...to figure out button or not....think they have a lot of bigger issues....

Absolutely Positively Correct.
Button-down shirt collars were introduced by Brooks Brothers in 1896.
Just another example of eBay not having a clue what they are talking about, and setting policy based on incorrect information. It’s not like the information isn’t out there to make an informed decision ... eBay just doesn’t take the time to do it, resulting in a catalog FULL of just plain WRONG info. And then they compound their mistake by refusing to correct it.

Wait a minute - we can insist eBay change something we don't like - and if we keep insisting, they will do it???
I have a long, long list.

It matters because the subcategories are incorrect. "Button down" is a style, or subcategory, not a category. A shirt either has a button down collar or it doesn't.
This product catalogue and new specifics and stock photos and what all goes along with this "new" ebay and search is not going to go well.
I searched "turtleneck" just to see the category and the first listing shown had photos of women in lacy, almost sheer bodysuits. Another listing had women in sheer bodysuits, no lace; the nude color was particularly striking.

One of us literally spent his whole life in a B &M clothing store.
With a tailor.
Some of the incorrect usage of terms drive him crazy.
Some are incredibly simple.
Button down is a collar.
Button front is a shirt or blouse.
Simple, isn't it? Or should be.
We gave up selling clothes for the most part.
Just too much work, with measuring.
Too many buyers who should not attempt to buy clothing online.
And as to saturated....I'm looking for a certain brand name Black large long skirt.
Hundreds? No, just one I found, (that I wasn't interested in purchasing.)
If you ever figure ebay out, let us know.
