I use the eBay Standard Envelopes for small inexpensive items and charge accordingly for shipping. However, This has happened to me twice now and I would like to know what I can do about it. When I prepare the item for shipping, "Media Mail" has been checked and the eBay Envelope option is shaded and can't be used, I lose money as a result. Instead of paying the $1.08 that eBay has billed my customer, I pay well over $3.
Let me know if you have a fix for this problem.

Don't know if this fits your situation. I run into this regularly when the order is for multiple items. Say there are six items, when going to print the label, it will show six ounces. and default to Media Mail, which they don't even qualify for. That is because the limit for ESE is three ounces. When I change the weight to one, two, or three ounces the ESE becomes available.

How much did your item sell for? It isn't available if they sell for over twenty dollars.

Are you sure? They just said, "Instead of paying the $1.08 that eBay has billed my customer, I pay well over $3."

Coins do not qualify for media mail. Only certain categories are allow to have this cheap standard envelop rate. Also there is a price limit of 20.oo if I recall correctly. So look at your ad before you start the listing and make sure that item qualifies for the lower rate.
