LACK OF FEEDBACKS

Sadly, buyers are all to quick to leave negative feed back. Regardless of the sellers intent to remedy

the issue, buyers pounce.  Very typical of our society today; entitled, vitriolic, and overly self indulgent with a false sense of self worth. Yet, 40 R% of my buyers do not leave any feedback. On balance that hurts as the

threshold for Top rated is easily punctured by  the few. If  ebay was supportive of their sellers as opposed to  the almighty dollar, they could do the following:(just an exercise in rhetoric since I know nothing will be done based on historical input).

1.Require buyers to contact the seller before leaving negative feed back and attempt to resolve any issue.

Personally, when buyers contact me, I immediately work with them to resolve all issues. Yes, I understand that there are many s-bag sellers who don't care and ignore buyers. At the very least, ebay could monitor which sellers are genuine AND WHICH ARE MOST LIKE THEM, "SHOW ME THE MONEY".

2. Since buyers choose not to be bothered leaving feedback, after 60 days, ebay could automatically assign a positive feedback. It is reasonable to assume if the buyer did not have any issues after 60 days, then they are happy. It is like a subscription that automatically renews in the absence of a directive to the contrary; patterned response is the legal phrase. As previously stated, this is just an exercise in futility since we all know ebay will kick these suggestions to the curb.

Re: LACK OF FEEDBACKS

Ebay took away a leverage tool for sellers when they stopped allowing sellers to leave neg feedback. There are some buyers that are just unreasonable for an number of reasons. They have buyers regret or want the item discounted or even a full refund without returning the item. These people are for the most part scam artists and sellers should be allowed to treat them as such. Ebay sure won't do anything about them.

"Why does it matter it you are Top Rated?"

There are still some marginal benefits to TRS status.

I understand where you are coming from but many questions are out there.  Why does it matter it you are Top Rated?   I don't think there is any value in that really.  I sell and have a larger feedback number than you and the thought has never really crossed my mind.  I wonder what this really about.

You are a top rated seller.   I like the postage discount.

Re: LACK OF FEEDBACKS

TY.

I appreciate you taking time to respond.

I find it interesting that not a single reply that

I have received has offered any suggestions

on how to get buyers to leave feedback.

Interesting but not surprising.

Re: LACK OF FEEDBACKS

I don't believe that anyone is able to answer that question other than what's already been said.  Sellers who leave positive feedback upon receipt of payment might get more.  Some sellers include a statement with the package invoice requesting that positive feedback be left if the buyer is happy with their purchase.

eBay doesn't make it easy either.  I can easily leave feedback for buyers as my stored statement pops up when I click on the comment line.  However, that isn't happening when I want to leave a comment for my sellers anymore.   It seemed to have changed when eBay decided to allow 500 characters instead of 80.  Then on the other hand it might be a good thing as I had one buyer  who left the same comment for every seller  within a certain time period, "Thanks but no thanks cancel order," or "Waiting for a return response, your getting them back anyway."  I realized looking at their feedback that it wasn't intended for me, but this buyer left these comments for a year before he changed it to something else.

Some buyers take their sweet time posting comments since they have up to 60 days to do it.  After all these years it just doesn't matter anymore.  My discounts are determined by the number of sales and total dollar amount.  Feedback for buyers is meaningless since you can only leave positive comments.

Re: LACK OF FEEDBACKS

I find it interesting that several responders have told you that asking for FB is not a good idea and cautioned you against doing it.  No matter how polite you are with your request, you are bound to run into a buyer who leaves you a negative simply because you asked.

And, again, it seems like someone at your FB level would have long ago quit worrying about how to get more.

Re: LACK OF FEEDBACKS

I'm not getting ANY feedback. I joined ebay 1998. Looks funny only to have 273 FB. I just sent polite messages to to buyers asking for FB. I did not know there were rules against doing that. ... Sorry ebay.

Re: LACK OF FEEDBACKS

Totally agree. I would only suggest that any negative situation you have with a buyer, you report the buyer to

ebay and use as many different reasons listed by ebay. Though it is like spitting on a forest fire, if more

sellers would do that, it establishes a baseline for numerous actions going forward. Also, when a buyer does not pay and you have to cancel, I leave feedback(even though it is positive) . FB= Buyer did not pay nor the simple courtesy of a reply. Pls make ebay a better experience.   It is a simple and vanilla way of sharing with the buyer that they need to do better.
