Good evening hardworking sellers everywhere.
I’ve been a member of EBay since 2005 with a flawless feedback track record of over 400 purchases and sales. I’ve been loyal to EBay for quite some time.
Within the last year there’s been some type of shift in the process of how EBay treats their sellers.
my first problem was with a pair of sneakers I sent to a buyer who claimed the sneakers didn’t look like ALL 9 pictures I posted. I have an iPhone 10x the pictures were crystal clear.
nevertheless refund is fine but what really grinds my gears is that EBay refunds the buyer his money without me receiving my sneakers back. Long story short I never received my sneakers and on the tracking number it clearly states “returned to sender” meaning that the buyer received my sneakers and a full refund. I tried multiple times to get a resolution and they denied all of it. Out of my money and now buyer has my sneakers and there’s nothing I can do.
Now today, a buyer with 0 purchases. First time buyer gets a full refund because EBay’s authenticating services said the inspection was failed. The sneakers were bought on the Nike app SNKRS. Is NIKE selling me fake sneakers? All documents for these sneakers were posted on listing. I’ve been buying and selling sneakers for over 20 years. This is the first time this has ever happened. They’ve went ahead and refunded the money to the buyer and AGAIN it’s in the hands of EBAY for me to get my sneakers back.
ebay sellers how do I know my sneakers weren't swapped? How do I know I will get my sneakers? Pls note these sneakers sold for over 300.00.
Can someone please help me figure this out? Maybe a LEGIT selling platform who values their sellers.
thanks in advance!

Yeah. Go over to the Fashion board and search for threads about how successful eBay's now-defunct designer purse authentication program was(n't). I don't expect, in the long run, the sneaker or watch authentication programs will prove to be any better.

Returned to sender on the tracking number usually means the buyer never picked up/got the package.........or he refused it and got the package back to the post office...........when did it happen?
I know nothing about the sneaker program but if the inspection failed, ebay never sent the sneakers to the buyer, he had nothing to do with the judgement........don't know if the program returns them to the seller or not.......you might check the program information. Frankly, if they are deemed fake......I can't see ebay sending them back to get back into commerce again.
As far as Nike store is concerned..........there was a big stink a few years back about a woman buying authentic purses and then returning fakes.........which the store then sold as real.... clerks know nothing about whether the items are real or not........she had receipts, they looked like "their" purses, they refunded her.......

I remember reading on that authenticated program and if item in question is NOT deemed authentic they will be returned to seller.
That was interesting about that purse store...WOW..I am sure it happens more then people think.

There's the caveat that eBay frowns upon shipping counterfeit merchandise. I wonder if they will. Hmmm...

Hmmmm is right, Now I'm wondering also, wish I knew where I read that thing, is there anyway to get in touch with this program? I believe the OP that he bought these from a Nike store online, but now maybe that's .....hmmmmm (lots of hmmmms here!)

Here's the link where I read you'll get your shoes back.

- Check what I italicized. It's really a bit confusing. Or a typo or two...?
Under the section "How does the return process work with Authenticity Guarantee?"
If you choose to offer returns, when a buyer decides to return, they will be instructed to send it back to the authentication partner. Your return policy determines whether you or the buyer pays for shipping costs back to the authenticator. Within two business days of receiving the item, the authenticator will check to verify that the returned item matches the authenticity and condition in which it was originally sent to the buyer. The eBay Authenticity Guarantee tag must remain attached to the item and untampered to be eligible for a return. If the shoes pass the authenticity and condition inspection, they will be returned to the seller. Otherwise, the shoes will be sent back to the buyer. If fraud is detected, eBay will work with authorities to take appropriate action.
- And this part is a bit wide open, too.
Under the section "Why would my item be returned to me by the authenticator?"
Your item may be returned to you if it does not pass our authentication checks, or if the item condition is not consistent with your photographs and item description. You will not be charged for the cost of shipping the return and a refund will be issued to the buyer immediately.
Hmmm...

Your right... a big HMMMMM it does sound a bit and a tad confusing?
Hmmmm maybe we can flag a Mod here to shed some light?

So here's my take on it.
In context, the italicized sentences above are referring to a RETURN by the BUYER; i.e., the authentication program will check the shoes that are being RETURNED to make sure the buyer didn't switch them or wear them or ruin them in whatever fashion. If they pass the inspection, meaning the authenticator can confirm it's the same pair of shoes in the same condition, those shoes will be returned to the seller. If they aren't the same pair, or aren't in the same condition, the buyer will get them back--and the return will be declined with no refund.

This question refers to an initial sale. The seller sends the shoes to the authenticator, but they may be returned to the seller if they don't pass inspection. The word "may" isn't modifying "be returned to you," it applies to the next phrase. So read it this way instead:
"Why would my item be returned to me by the authenticator?"
Your item may be returned to you if it does not pass our authentication checks, or if the item condition is not consistent with your photographs and item description. You will not be charged for the cost of shipping the return and a refund will be issued to the buyer immediately.
___________________________________________________________
In other words, the authenticator will return shoes to the seller immediately if they don't pass their inspection--without sending them on to the buyer.

I had the same issue today. The box my shoes I sold were sent in had a rip or tear on it. The freakin box. The shoes were fine and authentic. I’m done selling on eBay.

Man, i feel you. Ive been selling for 20 years here with flawless feedback. Then came this
authentication process and was told that my sneakers didn’t pass cuz the box was dented. Its a normal running shoe and they canceled because box got dented during transit. I dont think i can stomach this new change that i will have to stop selling shoes if some middle guy will decide if transactions will go through or not. There’s so much money that can be lost from honest sellers who has to eat up shipping cost from canceled transaction

Mine was returned for a dent on box for a regular running shoe. Im done too

My ad said no box, but I taped up the nice Gucci box as a bonus. Rejected - not told why, but that might be it. Sold for 1400, I have to pay ad cost and shipping. Grrr.
