Sadly, buyers are all to quick to leave negative feed back. Regardless of the sellers intent to remedy
the issue, buyers pounce. Very typical of our society today; entitled, vitriolic, and overly self indulgent with a false sense of self worth. Yet, 40 R% of my buyers do not leave any feedback. On balance that hurts as the
threshold for Top rated is easily punctured by the few. If ebay was supportive of their sellers as opposed to the almighty dollar, they could do the following:(just an exercise in rhetoric since I know nothing will be done based on historical input).
1.Require buyers to contact the seller before leaving negative feed back and attempt to resolve any issue.
Personally, when buyers contact me, I immediately work with them to resolve all issues. Yes, I understand that there are many s-bag sellers who don't care and ignore buyers. At the very least, ebay could monitor which sellers are genuine AND WHICH ARE MOST LIKE THEM, "SHOW ME THE MONEY".
2. Since buyers choose not to be bothered leaving feedback, after 60 days, ebay could automatically assign a positive feedback. It is reasonable to assume if the buyer did not have any issues after 60 days, then they are happy. It is like a subscription that automatically renews in the absence of a directive to the contrary; patterned response is the legal phrase. As previously stated, this is just an exercise in futility since we all know ebay will kick these suggestions to the curb.

TY, I disagree. Racking them up? less than 10 for approx 17 K and none for the other 10K with no feedbacks.
Pretty huge disparity in our percetions.

Totally agree.
Just a means for ebay to grab the extra fee discounts away from top rated sellers.
They are who we thought they are LOL

So, out of 10k none feed backs, what percentage are you assuming are unhappy with "high" standards and would rather say nothing than be negative?

Bored and angry RU?

I would take my chances; I can handle the risk reward aspect.

Simple, contact the seller(which so many do not do and work with them).
Rarely have I ever had a circumstance where a buyer was unhappy and worked with me
that a positive outcome was not achieved. Nowhere do you address that part of the population
who are lazy and indifferent. Actually, I made the decision last year to respond to all negative
an d neutral feedback. Let the buying public choose if they want to deal with me. BTW, my
sales have continually increased and I have attracted a customer base with like beliefs which
I am happy with. TY for your insights.

Really great reply! Objective and empirical which is so much more useful
than the emotional and personal replies. Thank you so much!!! I have
thought about Posh and Mercari and will look again. Smiles, Larry

TY, I guess you have suffered the **bleep** like many of us.
I understand ebay does not care about the sellers and I have just taken their cue
and responded to entitled, parent -house basement dwellers. Continued success friend :))

Buyers know that any seller can get negatives, often undeserved or stupid ones. Such feeedback is often obvious, actually.
What matters is the seller's reponse. If it is calm, factual, and professional, buyers feel reassured and will pay little, if any, further attention to the non-positive feedback.
But when a seller goes ballistic and posts hateful stuff, full of name-calling, blame, and worse... Back arrow!

Try to stay on point. This conversation is about problem solving the lack of feedbacks not
judgements on perceived values in your opinion of feedback left. So, any suggestions on
how to get buyers to leave feedback?

Sorry -- but what is a "customer base with like beliefs"?

Sellers who are just starting out are concerned with getting feedback, to show they're established and reputable. Your feedback number is pushing 18,000 (ther vast majority of them positive) and I don't think another thousand or two will make any difference, frankly.
But I'll make the same suggestion to you that I make to folks with lpw feedback numbers: Remember that feedback is voluntary and never push for it -- because MANY buyers are holding back from giving neutrals and negs by giving no feedback ay all, and if you push them you may regret it.

I'm almost convinced that feedback does more than people think it does, and there's no way to prove or disprove it because ebay is anything but an honest company. I've noticed a drop in impressions immediately after receiving negative feedback while I'm still under 1000 feedback every time it happened. I'm almost convinced that even though ebay says feedback does not impact search result ranking that it actually does in some way shape or form.
Just my opinion though, I obviously can't prove it because I don't work at ebay.

Please forgive any typos in the above and this. I have failing eyesight and an assistive device is malfunctioning so I'm not altogether sure what I'm typing. (Will leave to work on it.)

You are coming across to me as if you feel every single transaction warrants a FB comment, and that's where I disagree. Not that you said those actual words, it just feels like you are implying this based on your initial post and your response to my comment. So I'm responding back based on that presumption and on your suggestion for automatic FB, if none is left by the buyer.
When I encounter an actual problem with my purchase, I always contact the seller to work out the issues. However many times, as I said, I am actually happy with my item received but left unhappy with portions of the transaction.
A few recent examples: I purchased an item with priority shipping at $9.00. Received the item with first class on the label, so seller pocketed the difference. While I don't like that the seller did this, again I don't feel it deserves a neg/neutral as I still received my items.
I purchased some doll clothing, which arrived all bunched up and just tossed inside an envelope. No tissue paper, no plastic baggie, nothing to keep the clothing laying flat. I felt the seller could have used something soft to wrap the clothing with. I chose not to leave any FB as doing so seemed disingenuous.
Another package I opened the other day had my purchased item, along with religious tracks and pamphlets. There was also a handwritten note asking if I had accepted Jesus Christ as my savior. I chose not to leave any FB.
Those few reasons all just happened to me within the past 2 weeks so they are fresh, and why I would not use a platform that writes an automatic positive FB for me....
